TAG Heuer's new Aquaracer Solargraph is perfect for NATO fans

TAG Heuer is doubling down on its e-commerce game with two online-only watches, and one of them looks tailor-made for anyone who loves a good NATO strap. Meet the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph – a titanium-cased, solar-powered adventurer that's as tough as it is stylish. The Aquaracer line has been TAG Heuer's go-anywhere, do-anything collection since 1978, when Jack Heuer's Reference 844 set a new benchmark for sports watches you could wear on land or at sea. The modern Aquaracer name debuted in 2004, featuring six key traits: a unidirectional rotating bezel, screw-down crown, robust water resistance, luminous markers, sapphire crystal, and a double-safety clasp. In short, a watch that could take a beating and still look the part. The Solargraph series took that rugged formula and added a clever twist – a solar-powered movement. No more worrying about battery swaps or winding. Instead, light (natural or artificial) keeps it running. Now, the new 40mm Professional 200 Solargraph raises the exclusivity bar with a full-grade 2 sandblasted titanium case. That means it's feather-light on the wrist. The anthracite dial, with vertical brushing and icy polar-blue accents, channels the feel of frozen landscapes. Inside, TAG's Calibre TH50-00 Solargraph movement drinks in the light, reaching full charge in just 40 hours. Once topped up, it'll run for up to 10 months in darkness, with the battery designed to last over 15 years. But the detail that'll grab NATO-strap fans? The included custom grey textile strap with matching polar-blue stitching. It gives the watch a more tactical, field-ready look than the usual bracelet, while keeping things comfortable for all-day wear. Available only through TAG Heuer's online boutique, the Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph is priced at $3200 in the US and £2750 in the UK. TAG Heuer isn't stopping there, though. The brand is also rolling out an online-exclusive TAG Heuer Carrera Date, complete with a flash of the signature orange that's become a hallmark of its web-only releases. The Carrera is a cornerstone of TAG Heuer's history. Born in the 1960s, it was Jack Heuer's answer to the challenge of making a racing-inspired watch with perfect legibility. This 39mm Carrera Date keeps that DNA intact but adds a modern sport-luxury twist. Its black 'azurage' dial adds subtle texture, while rhodium-plated hands and Super-LumiNova indexes keep things readable at a glance. A date window at 6 o'clock maintains the Carrera's trademark balance, and the see-through caseback offers a peek at the automatic movement. The strap is another talking point – black perforated calfskin leather with a bold orange lining, fastened with a steel folding clasp. The 39mm Carrera Date is available now, priced at $3300 in the US and £2850 in the UK. Liked this? Forget Garmin, Breitling's new Ironman Endurance Pro is the ultimate watch for runners

Local historian's paintings now showing at TAG

TEMISKAMING SHORES ‒ A retrospective exhibition of the artwork of the late Peter Fancy is now on display at TAG in Haileybury. Titled 'View from the Studio,' the exhibition is on display at the Temiskaming Art Gallery (TAG) until September 5. One of the leading local historians of the area, in addition to being a writer, English teacher and painter, Fancy was known throughout the area and his work continues to serve as a historical resource. He attended elementary and high school in Haileybury and then went on to Queen's University to obtain a B.A. and a certificate in industrial relations. He later moved to Barrie, but his interest in writing and painting was focused on the Temiskaming area which he regularly visited. At the opening reception July 27, TAG curator Melissa La Porte noted the presence of Fancy's family and friends. His daughter Susan Spadafora related that she and her mother Betty Lou Fancy had visited the gallery two years ago to discuss whether the gallery could be a home for some of her father's paintings. At that time, a suggestion was made for an exhibition of his works. 'My dad would have been moved, honoured and excited to have been here,' said Spadafora. She said her father's parents had been born in Haileybury and he and his wife had met and married in Haileybury. Her father kept a journal about family life in Haileybury and his memories growing up there, she said. She said the journals contain Fancy's feelings about the north, the shores of Lake Temiskaming, his visions, memories and his creative imagination. CONTRIBUTIONS TO TEMISKAMING Local historian Chris Oslund related his memories of time spent with Fancy and about Fancy's contributions to a better understanding of the area's history. 'He had a great love for his hometown, the Temiskaming region and its people,' said Oslund In the Temiskaming Treasure Trails local history series, there are 'more than just dates and events,' said Oslund. 'Peter captured the lives of the people ... Peter was a rich storyteller. 'Like his writing, Peter's art is intended for us to reflect on the beauty and potential of this region. He also intended to inspire us to cherish what we have, inspire us to celebrate our past and to inspire us to embrace the future and share Temiskaming's story with the world.' Error! Google says it axed over 7,700 YouTube channels linked to Chinese state-backed ‘influence operations'

Google terminated 7,700 'inauthentic' YouTube channels linked to the Chinese state in the second quarter of the year, according to a Google bulletin on Monday. Most were removed as part of their investigation into coordinated influence operations linked to Beijing. The 'inauthentic network uploaded content in Chinese and English about China and US foreign affairs,' according to Google's Threat Analysis Group (TAG). Google also removed four channels in April linked to Chinese campaigns critical of the Philippines: 'The campaign was sharing content in English and Chinese that was supportive of China and critical of the Philippines,' said TAG. Over 3,000 other channels linked to operations in Russia, Türkiye, Romania, Azerbaijan, Israel, and Ghana were also removed. In the first quarter of the year, Google removed over 15,800 Chinese YouTube channels and blocked 28 domains linked to China from appearing on Google News and Discover – the personalised content feed within Google's app and on mobile. Google previously terminated John Lee's YouTube channel in 2022, which he was using as part of his campaign for Hong Kong's one-horse leadership race. The tech giant cited applicable US sanctions and related policies under its own terms.

Four interactive demo pods, each controlled by TAG's intuitive Operator Console, will enable visitors to explore real-world scenarios, including latency and HDR validation, audio issues, and error detection. TAG Video Systems is set to return to IBC 2025 with a display of expanded capabilities designed to help media companies streamline operations, improve decision-making and ensure top-tier video quality at scale, all powered by its 100% software-based Realtime Media Platform. The visitors can explore its latest developments in quality control (QC), user interface enhancements, and real-time integrations with key technology partners. TAG's IBC presence will spotlight new QC tools such as Waveform scopes and HDR test patterns, along with upgrades to its Operator Console, which now offers more intuitive control over screen layouts and tiles. The system also features deep integrations with industry leaders including Witbe, Nevion, Techex and DataMiner, aimed at reducing operational complexity and increasing system responsiveness. Visitors will be able to engage with four interactive demo pods, each managed via the Operator Console, simulating real-world scenarios such as latency issues, HDR validation and audio error detection. These live demonstrations will allow teams to interact directly with signals, adjust layouts, and monitor outputs across large-format displays—offering a hands-on experience of the platform's real-time power. Central to TAG's showcase are two major updates to its Realtime Media Platform: First, the introduction of Waveform Scopes within the QC Station, providing operators with essential visual tools, Waveforms, Histograms and Vectorscopes, for analysing luminance, chrominance and signal levels. These features support precise compliance and production quality checks across multiple sources in a live mosaic format. Second, new capabilities in the Operator Console allow for Channel Solo and full video playback, enabling users to isolate specific audio channels and instantly review entire video streams—critical functions for quick troubleshooting and quality validation during live and on-demand workflows. TAG will also spotlight real-world use cases enabled by its strategic partners. With Witbe, the platform ensures end-to-end viewer experience validation; with Techex, it supports agile, cloud-enabled broadcast delivery; Nevion enables streamlined orchestration through integration with VideoIPath; and DataMiner centralizes service monitoring by incorporating TAG's metrics into broader operational systems. These demonstrations underscore TAG's commitment to open architecture and interoperability, ensuring that its tools not only meet today's needs but also evolve alongside emerging industry requirements. With a fully software-driven platform that adapts in real time, supports all formats and infrastructures, and delivers actionable insights across all screens, TAG continues to empower media companies to stay agile and competitive in a rapidly shifting landscape. 'Our focus at IBC is to show what happens when monitoring and data come together in real time,' said Kevin Joyce, TAG's Zero Friction Officer. 'We're not just displaying video—we're delivering clarity, control, and the agility customers need to stay competitive.' Backed by its Zero Friction approach, intuitive toolsets, and deep partner integrations, TAG offers a smarter, unified path forward – regardless of workflow or scale. Stand 1.C31
