TCA Awards 2025: ‘The Pitt' Sweeps With Four Wins; Kathy Bates Honored For Career Achievement
The Television Critics Association (TCA) announced the winners of the 41st Annual TCA Awards, held virtually to recognize outstanding television programming and performances from the 2024–2025 season. Among this year's most celebrated titles were The Pitt, which dominated with four wins (including Program of the Year), Adolescence, The Studio, Doctor Who, The Traitors, and Sesame Street. The TCA, comprised of approximately 200 professional TV critics and journalists from the United States and Canada, honors excellence across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms. The Career Achievement Award was presented to Oscar winner Kathy Bates, who at present stars in the successful reboot of legal drama Matlock on CBS. 'Your recognition means the world to me, and I'm grateful to all of the TCA members for this incredible honor. Your support and dedication to the television industry are invaluable, and I am truly humbled by your acknowledgment.," said Bates in a statement. Bridget Everett received the Individual Achievement in Comedy award for her role as Sam Miller in the HBO dramedy Somebody Somewhere. 'I am beyond grateful to be honored for this show, which has meant so much to me," said Everett. "And I'm especially grateful to have the opportunity to thank you, the critics, who saw what we were trying to do from the very beginning.' Noah Wyle earned Individual Achievement in Drama for his performance in HBO Max medical procedural drama The Pitt. 'It is an honor to be nominated, especially in that company, and it is incredibly gratifying to win. I've known a lot of you for a long time. You've written some lovely things about me through the years and about my shows—especially this one,' he said. Among the other winners were Peacock's The Traitors, which won its second consecutive award for Outstanding Achievement in Reality. Apple TV+ industry satire The Studio was cited for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy. And Adolescence on Netflix won in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries, or Specials. Sesame Street, meanwhile, received the Heritage Award, recognizing its lasting impact on television and generations of viewers through educational programming. 2025 Television Critics Association Awards winners: ‘The Pitt' claims more than any other show, Bridget Everett shocks after Emmy snub
Just weeks before the Emmys, The Pitt has gotten a big boost from the 2025 Television Critics Association Awards. HBO Max's medical drama, which takes place over an entire 15-hour hospital shift, won a leading four statuettes: Program of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Drama, Outstanding New Program, and Individual Achievement in Drama for Noah Wyle, who called his win "incredibly gratifying." The Pitt has 13 Emmy nominations next month, well behind the Emmy front-runner, Severance, with 27 bids. She is, however, nominated for writing the HBO comedy series. "I am beyond grateful to be honored for this show, which has meant so much to me," she said. "And I'm especially grateful to have the opportunity to thank you, the critics, who saw what we were trying to do from the very beginning." Other TCA winners included The Studio (Outstanding Achievement in Comedy), Adolescence (Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries or Specials), Pee-wee as Himself (Outstanding Achievement in News and Information), SNL50: The Anniversary Special (Outstanding Achievement in Variety, Talk or Sketch), and The Traitors (Outstanding Achievement in Reality). All of those programs are out front to win their corresponding Emmy categories, per the Gold Derby odds. Matlock star Kathy Bates lost her individual acting race to Wyle, but she was honored with the Career Achievement Award for her enduring work in the industry. 'The Pitt,' Kathy Bates, more win Television Critics awards

Members announced winners and winners recorded acceptance speeches in videos shared across TCA social media channels. The Pitt was awarded Program of the Year, Outstanding New Program, Outstanding Achievement in Drama and Noah Wyle was awarded Individual Achievement in Drama. Wyle acknowledged his longstanding relationship with television critics going back to ER, from the set of how new ER on the HBO Max medical drama. "I've known a lot of you for a long time," Wyle said. "You've written some lovely things about me through the years and about my shows, especially this one. Thank you for your continued support. Though the award recognized Bates' television work from All My Children to recent work on Harry's Law and American Horror Story, Bates focused on her current work on Matlock, in a video from the set of its second season. "I accept this accolade on behalf of all of us," Bates said. "It has been my absolute joy to play Maddie Matlock. This complex and challenging role that Jennie Snyder Urman wrote continues to be a remarkable journey." The historic family program Sesame Street won this year's Heritage Award. The show also won Outstanding Achievement in Children's Programming for its recent season. The Studio was awarded Outstanding Achievement in Comedy. Bridget Everett won Individual Achievement in Comedy for Somebody Somewhere, which concluded with its third season. "The show is very personal and the process of making it was a vulnerable one," Everett said in her video to the TCA. "You all have made me feel seen and accepted." TCA sees key role of KTR, Kavitha in HCA misdeeds
Hyderabad: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) General Secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy has alleged that former minister K T Rama Rao and MLC Kavitha played a key role in irregularities within the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) through fraudulent accounting and the manipulation of club memberships. Addressing a press conference, the TCA general secretary alleged that a quid pro quo was at play in the HCA's misdeeds, with these and many more irregularities coming to light with the ongoing CID investigation. Guruva Reddy referenced the 2015-16 HCA AGM Report, which mentioned that K T Rama Rao (then Minister) was nominated as a member of BCCI's IT and Data Management Sub-Committee. Following this, several quid pro quo favours were allegedly exchanged. The TCA general secretary alleged that KTR's brother-in-law, Rajendra Pakala's company, was awarded contracts for IPL ticketing. 'In return, KTR facilitated relief for HCA regarding the payment of Rs 14 crore in property tax to IALA, allowing it to be paid in tiny instalments of just Rs 25 lakh annually,' Reddy claimed. The TCA also questioned HCA's financial practices, alleging that for the last ten years, the association has been 'copy-pasting' the same audit report. Guruva Reddy pointed out that Rs 6.10 crore was given annually for the development of clubs, even to those without teams, and that Rs 12 crore per annum was allocated to HCA administrative affairs. He questioned the justification for such high expenses. Additionally, Guruva Reddy highlighted that HCA's own President's Report (by Arshad Ayub) recorded that with KTR's intervention, negotiations were made to settle outstanding Income Tax and Service Tax dues in flexible instalments. He also noted that even after the ticketing contract ended in 2019, audit books from 2017-2025 still showed annual payments of Rs 12 lakhs to the same company, raising suspicion of ongoing kickbacks. Guruva Reddy also pointed out that the current HCA President was elected fraudulently by manipulating the list of government institutional voters. He informed that the TCA has already written to the CID to expand the investigation to cover the past 10 years of financial irregularities. He claimed that 76 clubs do not fulfil compliance norms of the BCCI bylaws and a total of 155 clubs were liable for suspension. Reddy appealed to the Government and the CID to register criminal cases against all those responsible for the crisis and strongly demanded that the TCA be recognised as a full member of the BCCI to protect and nurture cricket in Telangana.

TCA urges authorities to file FIRs against those involved in HCA scam
Khammam/Hyderabad: Strong lycriticising the functioning of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and alleging looting of more than Rs 200 crore in the name of District cricket alone, the Telangana Cricket Association on Sunday appealed the District Police authorities of Khammam and adjoining districts to file FIRs against those involved in the HCA scam and ensure arrests, so that young cricketers and their parents from rural regions are protected from corruption and malpractice. Addressing a press conference here at Khammam, the TCA General Secretary, Dharam Guruva Reddy strongly criticized the functioning of the HCA, alleging that the entire club system and utilization of funds were fraudulent, in violation of CAG guidelines, and even disapproved by their own auditors. Despite this, the HCA General Body illegally passed the financial accounts for 2022-23 and 2023-24. He also pointed out that HCA failed to take action against the previous office bearers and vendors involved in serious financial irregularities, already booked by the Telangana Police through four FIRs filed in October 2023. Reddy noted that the HCA completely ignored the reforms suggested by Justice L Nageswara Rao Committee (SMC) and continues to allow members involved in criminal activities to remain in power. He displayed the blatantly identical and copy-pasted audit reports of HCA for the financial years 2022–23 and 2023–24, exposing major accounting errors, negligence, and deliberate misappropriation of public funds amounting to hundreds of crores of rupees. He also pointed out that several clubs which never fielded teams and institutions which do not qualify under BCCI membership norms were shown as legitimate voters. Several district-level clubs have submitted false claims about infrastructure development for over 10 years. Reddy explained that funds amounting to over Rs 200 crore were looted by the HCA, including around Rs 12 crore misused in the name of district cricket alone. He highlighted that even after 90 years of HCA's existence, there was no visible cricket infrastructure or development anywhere in Telangana. He further requested the public representatives from Khammam to take stringent action against the corrupt HCA officials. TCA Khammam President Pradeep Kurapati, Secretary Veeresh Goud, Warangal Zonal Secretary T Jaypal, TCA representatives including Chitharanjan, Aleem, VD Rajeev, Senior Cricketers Konda Yadav, Veerla Ravi, Venkat, Naresh, Nazeer, Naveen, Konda Srinu, Joji Chako, Women Cricketers Radhika, Anjali, Vani, Padma and others were also present.
