I wanted to recreate the viral checkered floor but I was deluded to think my DIY skills were up to it – it was a flop
DOING your own DIY can save you a lot of money, but some people make it look easier than others. One woman shared how she was been inspired to give her pain floor a makeover - but unfortunately, it didn't go according to plan. 2 2 TikTok user @ tmassey13 revealed she was inspired to recreate the viral checkered floor trend - however, her DIY skills let her down. In the now-viral video, which has been viewed more than 3.4milion times, Taym filmed the process of transforming her home before the epic disaster. The 31-year-old, thought to be from the US, kickstarted the makeover process by applying tape on the floor and creating the square print. Once happy with the layout, the ambitious DIY fan chose which squares she'd paint in red - and the ones that would be left with the original flooring colour. After carefully applying paint with a roller, Taym - who painted dozens of the squares - said she waited for it to dry fully before removing the tape. Bu despite the results looking promising at first, the young woman was mortified when she saw the final disaster. Not only did some of the red paint come off along with the tape, but there were also huge gaps in-between the squares - and it was a far cry from the checkered print she had wanted to create. Sharing the jaw-dropping flop online, Taym said: ''I thought I was painting a cute checkered floor... ''Instead, I unlocked levels of delusion.'' The horrified woman - who had no idea where or why things had gone all wrong - went on in the caption. I swear by 7 cheap hacks to transform a newbuild house into a home - your shoes will never be left in a messy pile again ''I also let the paint completely dry before pulling up the tape.'' Many people were quick to flood to comments - and it seems that it wasn't just Taym who was clueless as to why it turned out to be a diasaster. ''I see the issue and I'm not sure of a solution,'' wrote one of the viewers. 10 DIY hacks for under £1 each These simple and affordable DIY hacks can help you get creative while saving money Homemade Air Freshener: Mix baking soda with a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Adonis Explore Resilience in New Indie-Pop Album ‘Wedyan'
On their seventh studio release, the Lebanese band expands beyond indie rock, embracing pop, R&B, and baroque influences. Apr 16, 2025 Twelve years into reshaping the Levantine music scene, Adonis return with their most expansive project to date. 'Wedyan' (Valleys), their seventh studio album released on April 10th, sees the Lebanese band move beyond their signature indie-rock comfort zone into lush new terrain—baroque pop, alternative R&B, and nods to nostalgic Arabic pop all collide in this concept album rooted in resilience and uncertainty. Produced between Amman and Beirut by Amr Shomali, with contributions from Taym and Robert Al Assaad, Wedyan is a genre-fluid, emotionally rich record. Tracks like 'Kel Ma Tsame'ni' and 'Khod Sa'at' channel the golden age of early-2000s Lebanese pop, while the swelling chorus in 'Nadini' plays like a ballad, full of devotion and urgency. The album's two interludes, one for a newborn nephew, the other for a late grandmother, add an intimate, narrative depth. If 2022's 'Hadis El Layl' romanticized love, 'Wedyan' reflects on its limitations. It's about cutting ties, embracing truth, and finding strength in solitude. 'No broken person can ever break me,' Anthony Adonis sings on 'Yekserni'—a defiant line that sets the tone for the album's emotional clarity. Just days before the album dropped, the band released 'Ma'rafha', a music video directed by Eli Salameh. Set in a dark security control room, it visualizes the futile attempt to erase someone's memories—a poetic metaphor for the album's central conflict. Adonis will support the album with a global tour, kicking off in Abu Dhabi, Cairo, and Riyadh before heading to Canada and Beirut.
