Superman on OTT: James Gunn's DC reboot set to hit digital platforms on THIS date after box office success
The latest Superman film, directed by James Gunn and starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult, is set to land on digital streaming platforms on August 26, 2025 — just 45 days after its cinematic release on July 11. The superhero blockbuster, which has already earned $565 million at the global box office, will soon be available to rent or buy on major platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and others. However, this will be a paid digital release, with rental and purchase prices expected to range between £15 to £20. A subscription-based release on HBO Max (known as Max in some regions) is still a few months away. After a strong start, Superman has begun to slow at the box office, falling to fourth place behind newer titles like 'Fantastic Four' and 'The Bad Guys 2'. The upcoming digital release is likely timed to catch viewers who missed it in cinemas. James Gunn took the helm as writer and director for this fresh take on 'Superman', marking the first entry in the newly launched DC Universe (DCU). Serving as a full reboot of the iconic superhero saga, the film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, with a supporting cast that includes Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced. The story sees Superman dealing with fallout after stepping into a global conflict secretly fuelled by tech mogul Lex Luthor (played by Hoult). As public trust begins to falter, Superman must rely on his biggest journalist ally (and lover) Lois Lane (played by Brosnahan) and fellow heroes to set things right. The film was produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran under the DC Studios banner. Fans eager to revisit or discover the new Superman story won't have to wait long, as the digital debut is just weeks away.

Jurassic World Rebirth studio Universal Pictures is cracking down on AI in a big way with a warning threatening legal action at the end of all its new movies
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Universal Pictures is continuing its crackdown on generative AI with new messaging, threatening legal action against anyone who uses its movies to train AI systems, at the end of all its new movies. The legal warning says Universal's movies "may not be used to train AI" and appears during the end credits of its releases. "This motion picture is protected under the laws of the United States and other countries," the warning reads. "Unauthorized duplication, distribution or exhibition may result in civil liability and criminal prosecution." Per The Hollywood Reporter, Universal thinks that "the worldwide insertion of the language adds another layer of protection against the theft of its movies for data mining and AI training purposes." The messaging has appeared at the end of Universal's biggest releases of the summer: How to Train Your Dragon, Jurassic World Rebirth, and The Bad Guys 2. Universal recently teamed up with Disney to sue AI company Midjourney, and the two studios called AI a "bottomless pit of plagiarism". An NBCUniversal spokesperson said that the company was suing the company to "protect the hard work of all the artists whose work entertains and inspires us and the significant investment we make in our content." Just last month, Amazon backed a new AI service, Showrunner, that uses material from existing TV shows to allow users to create their own episodes. The CEO of Fable, the company behind the software, said that "Hollywood streaming services are about to become two-way entertainment." Yes, people are still crushing on Mr. Wolf from 'The Bad Guys 2'
Nearly a week after the release of DreamWorks Animation's 'The Bad Guys' sequel, the popularity of the franchise's protagonist Mr. Wolf appears to be going strong. Moviegoers and social media users first began crushing on Mr. Wolf, voiced by Sam Rockwell, when the first film was theatrically released in 2022, commenting on his voice, his eyes, and of course, his fur. The first film followed Mr. Wolf and his crew – Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Ms. Tarantula, and Mr. Shark – as they pretend to turn over a new leaf. The film's sequel hit theaters on Friday, Aug. 1, and gives viewers a look at what life is like as Mr. Wolf actually does try to become a better person – er, wolf. Last year, before the sequel was released, fans took to social media to admire the canine's charisma. One X, formerly Twitter, user tagged award-winning visual and look development artist Jonatan Catalan Navarrete on the wolf's animation, calling Mr. Wolf 'so handsome with his long white socks and whimsical patterned tie.' 'I LOVE HIM SO MUCH,' shared X user @afiendishfox, closing the tweet with crying and burning heart emojis. Promoters for 'The Bad Guys 2' seem to have caught on to the fandom as they've partnered with GPS navigation app Waze, owned by Google. Now, drivers can take directions from Mr. Wolf. 'In one kilometer, exit right,' he said in a clip shared on X, formerly Twitter. 'Do you feel like we're best friends now? Because I do.' Later in the clip, he asked 'You don't mind if I sniff you, will you, pal?' Google announced the Mr. Wolf-Waze partnership on July 23, saying that now, drivers can rest easily knowing Mr. Wolf has their backs. 'You can team up with the notorious, newly reformed Mr. Wolf for a driving experience that's anything but bad,' Google wrote, adding that Mr. Wolf offers advice and also tells stories about his bad boy days. Social media users say Mr. Wolf is appealing to the furry community Some have speculated that the creators are tailoring Mr. Wolf's look and promo to a specific community – furries. Furries are fans, artists, writers, gamers, and role players who like and/or identify with animal characters with human characteristics, according to the International Anthropomorphic Research Project (IARP), which studies furries and their fandom. Some furries wear elaborate costumes or fursuits, or animal ears or tails, IARP said. More than 75% of furries are younger than 25 years old, the organization said. 'Mr. Wolf being on Waze where he flirts at you while driving really adds more evidence of how the marketing for The Bad Guys 2 is aiming towards furries, like they're really not being subtle,' X user @codysoyeah posted on Aug. 2. 'I get the Mr. Wolf simping' Even some users who seemed to be iffy on Mr. Wolf can see why he's so popular these days. 'Saw the bad guys 2 and now I get the Mr. Wolf simping,' shared X user @remixwuffy with a drooling emoji. Through Waze, Mr. Wolf lets drivers know they can rest at ease because they're in good hands, or paws. 'You're in good paws,' he laughed in the clip. 'I like the sound of that."
