Jack Draper into Madrid Open final after his finest clay-court victory

Less than two months after Jack Draper took a significant step forward in his career with a first ATP Masters title at the Indian Wells Open, he has the opportunity on Sunday to play for another at the Madrid Open. The 23-year-old Briton has progressed at a rapid rate on the tour over the past nine months and this is another significant new achievement. After securing entry to the world's top five by winning his quarter-final on Thursday, he backed it up on Friday by beating Italy's Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) to reach a first ATP clay-court final. No further ranking advances can be made from Draper's projected position of No5 but it will do wonders for his confidence ahead of the French Open

American Idol fans FURIOUS that one of their favorites was eliminated as the Top 5 is revealed

Season 23 of American Idol is winding down, with the Top 7 being whittled down to the Top 5 on Sunday's new episode, but many fans aren't too happy with the results. Heading into this week's new episode, the top 7 was comprised of Gabby Samone, Jamal Roberts, Breanna Nix, John Foster, Slater Nalley, Mattie Pruitt and Thunderstorm Artis. Each singer performed twice on Sunday, the first song being a Disney-themed song and the second a tribute to their moms for Mother's Day. It was revealed at the end of the episode that more than 20 million votes were received, with host Ryan Seacrest adding a whopping 5 million more than last week, though many were not thrilled with the results. Gabby Samone - the last Black woman left in the competition - and Mattie Pruitt - the youngest in the competition at just 16 - were sent home after America's vote. Fans of the 23-year-old Simone expressed their frustration on social media, many of whom were furious she was voted off. Gabby Samone - the last Black woman left in the competition - and Mattie Pruitt - the youngest in the competition at just 16 - were sent home after America's vote. The top 7 were all given some guidance by the new guest mentor, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, as they chose what Disney songs to perform. Samone selected a song that Miranda himself wrote, How Far I'll Go from the 2016 Disney hit Moana, which was performed by the title character, voiced by Auli'l Cravalho. Even Miranda admitted in a confessional, 'This is a very hard Disney song to sing. It's pretty range-y. It's pretty wordy,' as they showed Simone struggling a bit in rehearsal. Gabby herself admitted in confession, 'The words were wording,' as they showed footage of Miranda helping her through the song as she ultimately perfected the tricky line she was struggling with. The performance impressed the judges, with Lionel Richie saying they were 'spoiled' by her while Carrie Underwood said her voice was 'made for songs like that.' Her Mothers Day tribute song was Home from The Wiz, as they showed heartfelt footage of the singer telling her mom Charoletta how much she meant to her. Underwood added after that performance that her, 'talent is just ridiculous,' though it seemed that wouldn't be enough for Idol voters. After the results were announced by Seacrest, many took to X to voice their displeasure, including Emily Simon (@emilysimonnn), who said, 'What the hell were those results?? #AmericanIdol.' Josephine (@notmyname02) added, 'Nobody can beat the country singers. It's not fair!!!!! #AmericanIdol.' Another X user dubbed @sunkissednsalty said, 'Yall picked Slater over Gabby? Seriously???? #AmericanIdol.' Rahadra (@rahandracooking) didn't pull any punches, tweeting, '@AmericanIdol count your days !!! How yall let @GabbyBarrett_ go home #AmericanIdol.' Still, others weren't as outraged at Samone's elimination, such as @p00pinson, who said, 'People are mad that Gabby got voted off but both songs she sang tonight were weak compared to past performances. Its unfortunate because she's very talented, but its like that sometimes. #Americanidol.' Another dubbed @SandtownMama said, 'Here's how American Idol goes every year on tweets: *All these contestants are SO good *I love A,Band D over C Eor F *OMG A was voted off? Racist! #AmericanIdol.' SJ Miami (@artisttheme) said, 'GABBY SAMONE eliminated. This is my last time watching this show #AmericanIdol.' Another user dubbed @skittyspiece said, 'i know im the only one on twitter who watches #AmericanIdol, but Gabby going home tonight is a crime against women. if i didnt think it was fixed before, i definitely do now. shame on everyone for not letting the best singer in decades get into the top. she should have won it all.' Gabby voted out? Yeah, this show isn't fixed. And I have a bridge for sale. #AmericanIdol Lillian (@Illianonyc) said, 'Wow! This is a disgrace. What a bunch of racist asswipes. The best vocalist by far was Gabby. It's not even close! For her not to get to the top 5 is beyond reproach and proof it's more of a racist white trash popularity contest than a vocal contest. Pathetic! #idol #AmericanIdol.' Stephanie McGowan (@Stephan61047444) tweeted at Gabby directly, stating, 'girl, I know tonight didn't go where you wanted, but you're gonna go far! Keep chasing your dreams. #Baltimore #AmericanIdol.' Tavia (@ItsTaviBaby24) said, 'The top 3 has CLEARLY always been Jamal, Gabby, and Breanna. MATTA Fair Sabah launched with expanded participation

Liew (fourth left) and Nigel (fourth right) with guests at the launch of MATTA Fair Sabah at SICC on Saturday. KOTA KINABALU (May 10): The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), in collaboration with its state chapter, officially launched the 2025 MATTA Fair Sabah at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Saturday. The event was officiated by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew. The three-day event, held from May 9 to 11, showcased strong cooperation between travel agencies, state tourism organisations, airlines and tour operators. 'This year, we are proud to see that the MATTA Fair Sabah has grown larger, with an increased number of booths and more participating companies. These are clear indicators of growing confidence and enthusiasm among tourism stakeholders. 'This expanded participation not only enhances the fair's appeal but also offers valuable opportunities for local travel agencies and tourism players to promote their products and services,' Liew said in her speech. She also noted that Sabah continues to innovate in its tourism promotion efforts. For example, at the recent MATTA Fair in Kuala Lumpur, the 'Top 5 Mountains in Sabah' campaign was launched to further position the state as an adventure tourism hub in Southeast Asia. 'Peaks such as Mount Kinabalu, Mount Trus Madi and Mount Tambuyukon are among the highlights of this campaign, and we look forward to welcoming more climbers and trekkers in the months ahead. 'Hosting the MATTA Fair in Sabah significantly strengthens the state's position as a top destination for both Malaysians and international tourists. Despite the challenges brought about by the global pandemic in recent years, Sabah's tourism industry has shown tremendous resilience and has made a strong recovery,' she added. At the Kuala Lumpur MATTA Fair, Liew revealed that Sabah recorded RM4.5 million in sales, a notable increase from RM3 million in September 2024. She believes this growth clearly reflects the strong demand and increasing appeal of Sabah's Culture, Adventure and Nature (CAN) tourism products. Among the most popular packages were island hopping tours and visits to the Mari Mari Cultural Village. However, she stressed that the ministry's focus is not solely on boosting sales figures. 'Our efforts are about nurturing partnerships, building stronger networks, and most importantly, creating meaningful and memorable experiences for all who visit Sabah. 'Through continuous collaboration and innovation, we are confident that Sabah's tourism industry will continue to thrive, contributing to both our economy and our reputation as one of Asia's top destinations,' she concluded. A total of 143 booths representing 51 organisations participated in MATTA Fair Sabah. These included 31 licensed tour and travel agencies, three state tourism offices, two airlines, and five hotels and resorts. According to MATTA President Nigel Wong, MATTA Fair Sabah is projected to generate RM26 million in sales, an increase from the RM21 million recorded during the previous fair. 'Sabah's reputation as a world-class tourism destination is well established, and MATTA is proud to be a committed partner in growing inbound travel to the state. Our focus remains on expanding the tourism footprint across Sabah. 'Through this fair, MATTA supports not only outbound travel but also plays a strategic role in connecting inbound-ready tour operators with the domestic market and beyond, ensuring that tourism spending remains within the country and benefits local businesses and communities,' he said. Meanwhile, Managing Director of Fun Holiday Tours and Travel Sdn Bhd, Connie Chong, said that this year's fair saw a somewhat lower turnout compared to last year, despite extensive promotions by the organisers. 'On the first day, Friday, there weren't many visitors, and most of those who did come were just browsing. The second day was slightly better, but overall, the crowd was still smaller than last year. 'In terms of pricing, most participants offered generous discounts and promotional rates for popular destinations among Sabahans, such as Japan, China, and Central Asian countries like Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. 'For families, the school holidays remain the peak period for bookings. Most of the bookings made during this fair were for travel during the year-end school holidays,' she said. Chong also noted that travel costs have not changed significantly compared to previous years due to the wide range of options now available on the market. Additionally, Sabah's travellers are becoming increasingly knowledgeable about geography, health and safety, making travel planning smoother.

Ye Admits To Being Inspired By Drake And Copying His Music

Drake has been vocal about how much Ye has inspired his artistry for his entire career, even calling him his favorite artist. The artist formerly known as Kanye West recently returned the favor. He hosted another live stream this week with Drizzy's Toronto affiliate Top5, and gave the 6 God props. 'The thing about Drake's music is he got sh*t that's copies of what I do,' West said. Meanwhile, he had no issue admitting that he had tried to duplicate the For All The Dogs artist's sound. 'I'll have copied a Drake flow a lot of times. I got sh*t that once Drake took over the algorithm was copies of Drake.' The Donda 2 artist didn't specify the songs that he was moved by, or which songs of his were copies, but he did reveal some more unknown information. According to Ye, the 'Nokia' artist was going to be featured on Donda and Donda 2. He also claimed that he was supposed to work on the 2022 house album Honestly, Nevermind. The public is well aware of all that Drake and Ye have done for each other. They have collaborated on records like 'Forever' and 'Glow,' plus some contributions beyond just featuring on each other's songs. The five-time Grammy winner wrote 'Yikes' from the controversial artist's self-titled 2018 album, and Ye produced 'Feel No Ways' from Drake's 2016 album Views. Outside of music inspiration, the Chicago producer has been inspired by Drizzy's legal battle with Universal Music Group. 'Yo, I'm so happy right now, you don't understand,' he recently said in a video on X. 'With this UMG, Drake, Kendrick situation, Super Bowl, Grammys — this sh*t was driving me and you know where it should be driving me, but this is the biggest victory in music history right here.' He resolved that he would never insult the father of one again, calling himself 'Team Drake.' Despite his recent critiques of Kendrick Lamar, he said he was also 'Team Kendrick' and 'Team all of us.' He even suggested that K. Dot pursue litigation with UMG. 'Everything is worth everything for a moment like this, where we stop going at each other and we go at the slavemasters.'
