Mbappe a doubt for Real's Club World Cup opener
MIAMI: Real Madrid could be without striker Kylian Mbappe for their Club World Cup opener against Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal after the Frenchman missed training due to illness. New head coach Xabi Alonso will make his debut on the Real bench for the Group H match at Hard Rock Stadium and could be without several regulars. Defender Antonio Rudiger and the versatile Eduardo Camavinga are also likely to miss out against the Saudi team. 'Kylian was feeling a little better this morning, but not enough. It's very hot and it was better that he didn't train. But we will wait until the last moment. Tomorrow morning we will decide,' said Alonso. 'Rudiger made a brutal effort this season and I don't know if he will be called up tomorrow, but he is progressing well and will be the first to return. Well, there's only one place to start really, isn't there... Simone Inzaghi is set for his first match in charge of Al-Hilal since joining almost immediately after losing the Champions League final with Inter. Oh, and there's some right back Real Madrid have brought in for the competition, his shirt says Trent - judging from his announcement press conference he must be some breakout star from Spain because I've never heard of him. There will be a lot of eyes on the teamsheets tonight to see what that guy can do, whether it's from the start or on the bench.

Former Liverpool right-back Markus Babbel has revealed he thinks Jeremie Frimpong could prove to be an upgrade on Trent Alexander-Arnold. While Frimpong is not necessarily seen as a like-for-like replacement, with Conor Bradley also an important figure for Arne Slot, his signing was definitely born out of the need to add additional options in that position.
