Horrifying moment top-flight footballer is hit by a FIREWORK during a game - as his gruesome testicular injury is revealed

A footballer has been left with a horrifying injury after being struck with a firework during a game. Bolivian Primera Division side The Strongest hosted Blooming on Sunday at the club's Estadio Hernando Siles home. After a competitive clash that saw the visitors equalise twice after falling behind, Juan Guardo netted late in the second half to put the Strongest back in front. With The Strongest holding on to their lead as the game came to a close, chaotic scenes unfolded during injury time. In the dying moments of the game supporters began letting off fireworks from the stands in the direction of the pitch. Players from both sides rushed to make their way off the field amidst the chaos before Guardo was struck and immediately crashed to the floor. Medical staff were eventually able to escort the Paraguayan forward off the pitch as bangs from the pyrotechnics continued to ring out across the stadium. A report from Bolivian outlet El Deber claimed that Guardo had suffered a contusion on his inner thigh and a testicular hematoma as a result of the firework blast. Despite the severity of the injury, Guardo is said to be in the running to return for the club's clash with Nacional Potosi on Saturday. Reports suggest The Strongest ultra group UltraSur were responsible for letting off the fireworks that ultimately injured their team's match-winning striker. The group later offered their apologies to Guardo and insisted that they had set the fireworks off in celebration of the team's victory. 'We would like to address all our fans to express our sincere apologies for the events that occurred,' the group said in a statement. 'It was never our intention to cause harm to any player or member of the coaching staff. 'We always seek to encourage and contribute, not to put anyone at risk.'
