MLB players drop $11K on luxury 'lucky charm' necklaces as new trend takes off

Professional baseball players have been making fashion statements even while they're out the field — sparking a hot new trend. A slew of MLB players have been sporting necklaces from French jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels (VCA). The necklaces run for around $11,000 as they flaunt the brand's signature symbol of the Alhambra. The Van Cleef Alhambra collection draws inspiration from the four-leaf clover, according to Sotheby's website. The Alhambra is "a universal symbol of luck, and the Moorish quatrefoil, a motif rooted in architectural traditions." The collection was inspired by the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, known for its grand arches and elaborate geometric motifs. Major League Jewelers, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is taking credit for launching the new craze. Shop owner Joseph Tacher told Fox News Digital that Miguel Rojas of the Los Angeles Dodgers was the first player to request a piece. Rojas has been seen donning an onyx Alhambra necklace while also rotating the matching VCA earrings or a mother-of-pearl Sweet Butterflies pair. Infielder Junior Caminero of the Tampa Bay Rays has been seen with an onyx necklace — while also seen sporting two Alhambra bracelets when not on the field. Van Cleef & Arpels has strong ties to Monaco royalty, with Prince Rainier III gifting American actress Grace Kelly a wedding set resplendent with pearls and diamonds. The French jewelry house was then named the "patented supplier of the Principality of Monaco," according to the VCA website. Outfielder Joc Pederson of the Texas Rangers has also been seen on the field wearing green and white necklaces. "MLB players love our pieces because they are both beautiful and versatile — you can dress them up or dress them down," he said. "You can dress them up or dress them down." Tacher said that Major League Jewelers has been receiving numerous requests for the jewelry from many MLB clients. "I always tell the players if you look good, you play good. And if you play good, you get paid good," he said. Major League Jewelers has been in the jewelry business for over 35 years. Tacher said the organization has been receiving an influx of requests from players for the jewelry. He said his shop worked with MLB players before, noting that Hall of Famer David Ortiz, known as "Big Papi," has purchased custom jewelry. The shop has made headlines for supplying many Houston Astros players with their gold chains. It held a showcase at the Seattle Mariners clubhouse. Fox News Digital reached out to Van Cleef & Arpels for comment.

Two wealthy British women lose 11 Birkin bags, jewellery and cash worth nearly a MILLION pounds after their Saint Tropez hotel room is raided

Two wealthy British women had their holiday turn into a nightmare when a burglar ransacked their room in a luxury Saint-Tropez hotel and stole 11 Birkin bags, designer jewellry and cash worth almost £1 million, according to French media. The same hotel has been plagued with several break-ins this summer, where moneyed guests have lost thousands of pounds in cash and prized possessions. The pair were said to arrive at the hotel in the coastal town on the French Riviera at around 5 pm on August 5 before going on a stroll at 8 pm until around midnight, a report quoting a friend of the tourists said. 'When they returned, the room was ransacked, the door to the private terrace broken, the wall safe ripped out,' their friend, Sabrina, said. 'They don't even have their passports anymore. It's a vacation that's turning into a nightmare.' It is understood that a complaint about the incident was filed to authorities on Wednesday. Following the raid, the women approached the hotel security, who reportedly did not detect an intruder. 'As luck would have it, no one heard anything. My friends contacted the owner, who pretended to be a victim,' Sabrina said. During the raid the thieves reportedly took 11 Hermès Birkin bags, Patek Philippe watches, Dior luggage, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry, and Cartier pieces including an engagement ring, Var Matin reports. Around €15,000 (£13,000) was also stolen alongside bank cards. The total amount lost is thought to be close to 1 million euros (£867,000). The women are reportedly shocked that the luxury hotel did not have better security and are now on their way back home after a disappointing holiday. 'Hotels that claim to be 5-star should have a more developed security system,' their spokesperson said. 'It's a shame. It tarnishes the image of France and the village of Saint-Tropez.' This is not the first time the hotel in southeastern France has been burgalled this summer, leading to tourists losing thousands of pounds worth of luxury belongings, report Var Matin. In a separate incident in early July, a Brazillian tourist's first trip to Saint-Tropez ended in disaster when two luxury watches worth €74,000 (£64,000) and €46,000 (£39,000) as well as €3,000 (£2600) in cash were reportedly stolen from his room. The tourist was enjoying a workout and then a breakfast at the hotel when the intruders ransacked his room, it is claimed. He complained that the hotel was taking a lengthy amount of time in giving him compensation after he made an insurance claim. A hotel employee was questioned in relation to the case but was later released. Around the same time, another visitor reportedly had two watches and €800 (£690) stolen from his residence. Two hotel employees have reportedly been summoned to appear before court on September 10 in relation to the case.

Van Cleef & Arpels Ushers In A New Era Of Fabulous Flowers

Flora and fauna have inspired Van Cleef & Arpels since its founding in 1906, but this year the maison has added a new silhouette to its floral legacy Van Cleef & Arpels' long-standing fascination with nature finds new expression this year in a jewellery collection that celebrates the enduring allure of flowers: Fleurs d'Hawaii. Presented at Dumfries House in Scotland – a location deeply connected to the maison through its partnership with The King's Foundation – the collection draws from archival motifs in fresh-feeling silhouettes. Nature has always been a defining theme for the French maison, and flora in particular has held a special place in its creative universe. 'There is this positive vision of life that the maison uses as inspiration,' said CEO Catherine Renier during the presentation, noting that their floral designs are not merely decorative, but alive with movement and colour. 'They are flowers in bloom… flowers you want to connect with.' The Fleurs d'Hawaii collection captures this vivacity through a joyful composition of colours, cuts and textures. Combining pear-shaped gems and brilliant-cut diamonds, the pieces recreate the feel of a tropical bouquet, with vivid hues of spinels, tourmalines, mandarin garnets and sapphires forming lush, overlapping petals. 'For Hawaii, it's all about the pear shape. This is a design decision in order to give the pieces a feeling of lightness,' Renier explained. Presenting the collection at Dumfries House underscored the maison's ongoing connection to the location. Van Cleef & Arpels has been the Principal Patron of The King's Foundation Gardens and Estates since 2023, supporting the preservation of Dumfries House's formal gardens and natural landscapes – including the Van Cleef & Arpels Rose Garden. 'We wanted to talk about flowers in a garden that were meaningful to the maison,' said Renier. 'The gardens really enhance the magic of the collections.' The brand's partnership with The King's Foundation also echoes shared values around heritage, craftsmanship and community engagement. As Renier pointed out, 'There was a connection, a simplicity in what we wanted to convey… craftsmanship, the partnership and also the gardens.' With their vivid colour combinations and intricate metalwork, Fleurs d'Hawaii transforms floral inspiration into detailed compositions that balance playfulness with movement and delicate proportions – hallmarks of Van Cleef & Arpels' approach to nature.

Courtney Stodden marks one week of sobriety by posting pin-up bikini photos that flash her sunburn

Courtney Stodden has been sober for one week. The blonde bombshell said on Instagram that she is proud for how far she has come as she looks forward to 'week two.' 'Sober journey, healing, summertime, calm,' read the model's hashtags. The 30-year-old reality TV star also showed off her fresh red sunburn from a day by her swimming pool in Calabasas. 'This is your reminder to use SPF,' she added in her caption. The former child bride was modeling a skimpy light purple string bikini that left little to the imagination. This comes after she talked about how her much-older first husband Doug Hutchison - a 65-year-old actor whom she calls her former 'groomer' - got her started on drinking alcohol when she was very young. The Washington native said he would drink 'bottle and bottles of alcohol' a day and pushed her to drink too so he could 'control' her. But these days Stodden does not want to feel 'out of control,' so she is staying away from the booze even if the journey is challenging. The cover girl also noted that many of her friends are not happy that she has decided to be sober as they won't know what to do with 'healthy' Stodden, but she will stick with her plan no matter what and won't take up drinking again just to please her pals. 'If people don't get it, then maybe they shouldn't be around,' said Stodden who wore a beige bra with two Van Cleef & Arpels necklaces. The caption read: 'The painful truth.' Earlier this week the former teen bride told that she is 'very happy with the decision' as she works on her 'sobriety journey and overall health.' 'Giving up alcohol also helps with my mental health,' Courtney, who has recently signed on for a new Lifetime biopic, shared. 'I feel better without it.' The wife of movie producer Jared Safier then explained that she had reached for drinks when she felt stressed by fame. The former child bride was modeling a skimpy light purple string bikini that left little to the imagination 'Alcohol was my escape for years, but it turned into a trap,' shared Stodden to 'I used it to survive trauma, but it ended up making me feel more lost and ashamed. This breakup isn't just with a substance—it's with a version of myself I'm ready to leave behind. 'At some point, blacking out stopped being cute. I used alcohol to deal with pain, but all it did was make things messier—and make me louder in all the wrong ways. I'm finally cutting ties. Alcohol and I? Total toxic ex energy.' More Americans are abstaining from alcohol consumption. This trend is particularly noticeable among younger adults, who are increasingly embracing a 'sober curious' lifestyle, according to Time magazine. She has told that tying the knot with 65-year-old A Time To Kill actor Doug Hutchinson was a bad move and she won't pretend otherwise; seen with Doug in 2013 Stodden broke the news of her newfound sobriety on Instagram on Tuesday as she began, 'Alcohol, I'm breaking up with you. It's been a toxic relationship for years. 'Something I used to cope, to escape, to survive. But it's hurt me more than it's ever helped me—publicly and privately,' wrote the siren. 'Last night was the last time. I'm done letting it control me. I'm done feeling sick and ashamed. I want to be fully present in my life. I want to face my past, my trauma, and my current reality with clear eyes and real strength. To those who understand this battle—thank you.' Stodden also shared: 'Please respect my space as I walk this new path. It's not easy, but it's necessary.' The pinup model who resembled Marilyn Monroe also wrote: 'This is something I've gone back and forth about posting. But my life has always been so public and this is a big part of my healing.' Hugh Hefner's ex-girlfriend Crystal Hefner commented, 'I am so proud of you. I haven't drank since 2009 and it's the best thing. Life is so much brighter and happier without the poison bringing me down. You got this.' Stodden replied, 'Soul sis❤️.' Former talk show host Ricki Lake added, 'You got this.' This comes after Courtney shared her feelings on her tragic teenage bride story after her 14 year wedding anniversary. The beauty told that tying the knot with A Time To Kill actor Hutchison was a bad move and she won't pretend otherwise. She was just 16-years-old when she married Hutchison, who was 51 at the time, at a Las Vegas wedding chapel in 2011. 'It stays with me, the pain, I won't stay quiet,' she told adding Doug was 'emotionally abusive.' The model then said: 'My voice is my power and for every voice silenced, I'll shout louder. And I won't ask for permission to do what's right. Not anymore. I speak for that little girl within.'
