A-list singer turned down Meghan's invite to appear on Netflix show: report
IN LONDON Meghan Markle extended an invitation to Dolly Parton to appear on her Netflix series but was turned down, according to a new report. The first season of the Duchess of Sussex's show, With Love, Meghan, was released in March and featured eight episodes, each with different guests. According to royal and entertainment commentator Kinsey Schofield, the country singer's team was 'livid' at the request. 'Because no, they don't want to risk Dolly's reputation Q score [and] her popularity by associating with Meghan Markle,' she alleged in a recent podcast episode of The Nerve with Maureen Callahan. 'They knew that this ask was just to give Meghan Markle credibility in this lifestyle space, a space that Dolly does have a lot of credibility in. 'Dolly is not only incredibly popular and loved by the general public, but she also is somebody who can float around within these different places. 'Her team really feels like Meghan was trying to take advantage of her popularity.' Those who did feature in the first season of With Love, Meghan, included the duchess' former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer and actress Mindy Kaling. It was confirmed earlier this year that the lifestyle and cooking show had been renewed for a second season – with rumours circulating recently that a third has also been greenlit from Netflix. Shortly after the release of season one, and amid persistent allegations of Meghan being 'difficult' to work with, a staffer spoke to People magazine about their experience, insisting she was 'warm', 'approachable' and 'genuine' throughout production. 'She made sure everyone felt included, from Netflix executives to our director to every PA on set. No one was left out,' he said. 'Most of the time, we're expected to fade into the background, to be invisible. But in this show, we were part of it. We were included. It was a very unique and refreshing experience.' Meghan was also open to learning throughout the process, according to the crew member. 'She didn't seem too married to any one idea. If something didn't go perfectly, she was fine with it and moved on to the next thing,' he said. The staffer added that she was 'a great hostess' and that there were occasional set visits from Prince Harry and the couple's two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. 'Whenever Harry visited set, he was always super polite and friendly. But it was clear he wanted this to be Meghan's moment to shine,' he said. 'She was super attentive and doting on [the kids]. We would give them headphones so they could listen to audio.'

Months after the finale of With Love, Meghan aired, Meghan Markle has offered fans a never-before-seen clip from the series. The deleted scene was posted on her Instagram page recently, showing the Duchess of Sussex cutting a pineapple with her guest, wellness therapist Randi Karin. In it, she described the best way to cut the fruit, explaining: 'With pineapple, instead of just cutting it to make the perfect little bite, you follow the wedge. When nature has given you all the cues on how to have a perfect taste of something!' 'There was so much goodness on Season 1 of 'With Love, Meghan' on Netflix that didn't make it in, there just wasn't enough time! This scene with sweet Randi Karin is especially fun as you think about summer entertaining tips and tricks,' Meghan wrote in her caption. 'Great weekend to rewatch or catch-up, catch up on the show as we gear up for Season 2 this summer and all the fun to come with @aseverofficial.' However, not everyone was blown away by the tip on cutting pineapples – with some pointing out how basic the instructions were. 'It's like watching a grade school home [economics] class. How sad,' one wrote on X. 'I can understand why it was deleted, dear god,' another said. 'Shares a hack that everybody everywhere has known for years,' one person wrote, as someone else joked sarcastically: 'In the next episode Meghan shows us how to peel a banana.' Others praised the duchess, with one person gushing: 'Meghan is the ONLY ONE I have ever seen cut a pineapple like this. Meghan you're simply the BEST.' Another declared: 'I needed this! I love pineapple but cutting it is hard.' It was confirmed earlier this year that With Love, Meghan had been renewed for a second season – with rumours circulating recently that a third has also been greenlit from Netflix. Meghan's pineapple post comes after it was revealed that she had left a handwritten note for the cabin crew aboard a recent flight. A TikTok user named @ninavidavlogs took to the social media platform to share the story, claiming the duchess had boarded an American Airlines flight she was working on and had left a personal message thanking them all for their service. Describing her as 'so beautiful in person', Nina went on: 'She was so sweet. She wrote us a little handwritten note back. So we wrote her [a] note that said, 'It's a pleasure serving you. We love you real bad.''

In the clip, released on Saturday (31 May), Meghan, 43, was joined by wellness therapist Randi Karin as she explained how to properly cut the fruit. MEGHAN Markle's new Netflix cooking show has been slammed by a royal expert for not 'being entertaining or informative.' Speaking on The Sun's Royal Exclusive show, broadcaster Esther Krakue questioned the point of the eight-part With Love, Meghan, which saw the duchess hosting celeb pals such as Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer. 4 4 The Netflix series saw Meghan making guest baskets, beeswax candles, and a single skillet spaghetti, filmed at a farmhouse near her £12million Montecito mansion. Esther shared: 'There's nothing there. 'She's very, like - I'm not saying this to be horrible - she is not an entertainer or an entertaining person. 'There's not much personality there. 'I never learn anything from her. I love lifestyle shows. I watch them every day. I don't learn anything. I didn't learn anything from hers. And she's just not entertaining. 'She's not a fun person to be around. 'You don't think this is the person I want to go to the pub with to have a pint with. 'It's very clear that she is not box office in terms of entertainment quality.' Meghan is too vacuous. Why can't she promote women in a realistic way? Speaking of the content of the show, Esther said: 'That's not what I want to know.' She explained: 'I want to know, how did you bag a prince? 'What did you do? What were the techniques? Who's your waxing lady? I never learn anything from her. I love lifestyle shows. I watch them every day. She's very kind of drab and boring." £78M Netflix deal The Netflix series has been renewed for a second and third series, following its debut on March 4, 2025, but Esther queried if the streaming giant has any regrets. After signing on the Sussexes in a deal reportedly worth £78million over five years, they have so far created their Harry & Meghan documentary, Invictus and Polo. 4 Esther said: 'I don't think they've got any value for money with this couple. 'It was obviously a business risk taking them on. 'I think two years into it, they realised they'd sunk money into the world's most boring couple that needed a lifetime supply of money to pay for their security. 'Harry actually said that, he said, 'I was offered this and I needed to pay for my family's security.' Despite any criticism, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos is said to be in full support of the Duchess of Sussex. 4 A source told MailOnline: "What people do not understand about the situation is that [Netflix CEO] Ted Sarandos is a massive, massive fan of Meghan personally. 'He calls her 'the rock star'. 'There is no way that her deal does not get renewed. 'Ted is in the Meghan business and that is not about to change. He is all in." The second series of With Love, Meghan — with no Harry or their children Archie, six, and Lilibet, three — has already been filmed and is due to be screened in the autumn.
