Zizo relishes fierce competition in revamped Ahly squad - Egyptian Football

'We have a strong squad, especially after all the new signings. There will be strong competition between all the players, and this is a good thing for the team and the coach, who has plenty of options,' Zizo told the club's official website on Tuesday. The 29-year-old completed a sensational free transfer last month from rivals Zamalek to Ahly, in one of the most high-profile moves in recent Egyptian football history. The record African champions have added eight players to their squad during the close season, including Zizo, defender Yassin Marei, Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, goalkeeper Mohamed Seha, defender Ahmed Ramadan, former Aston Villa midfielder Mahmoud Trezeguet, and striker Mohamed Sherif. 'All the players are motivated and will deliver their best performance to help the team win titles,' Zizo said. 'Ahly participates in many tournaments and needs a strong and ready roster with the same quality.' Zizo featured for Ahly in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, making three appearances and registering one assist, despite the team's early exit in the group stage. 'We put in strong performances at the Club World Cup, but we missed several scoring chances. We'll do our best to return to the tournament in the 2029 edition,' he added. Ahly are currently holding a pre-season training camp in Tunisia ahead of the domestic league season, set to kickoff in August. 'It's important for the players to be part of the preparatory camp. Everyone is eager for the new season and motivated to achieve victories,' Zizo said. 'I'm looking forward to scoring my first goal for Ahly. I hope to feature in the opening league match, but I know I need to be patient,' he added. 'I thank the fans for the warm welcome and hope to meet their expectations. I can't wait for the league to start and to play in front of the supporters at Cairo Stadium.' Bilal Ould-Chikh Joins Zamalek on Free Transfer

Moroccan winger Bilal Ould-Chikh has signed for Egyptian side Zamalek as a free agent, in what marks a new chapter in his career. The 27-year-old became a free agent on 1 July and attracted interest from several clubs before opting for the Cairo giants. He is expected to be unveiled in the coming hours. Ould-Chikh came through the youth systems of Willem II and FC Twente, making his senior debut for Twente in 2014. He later joined Benfica, where he spent five seasons largely with the B team, followed by stints at FC Utrecht, ADO Den Haag, and Turkish side Denizlispor. Most recently, he featured for FC Volendam, playing a key role in their promotion to the Eredivisie. His move to Zamalek offers a new challenge on African soil. The winger, who represented Morocco at U20 level, has previously spoken about facing Islamophobia in the Netherlands and plans to relocate to Morocco after retiring from football.

Zamalek sign Swedish-Palestinian winger Adam Kaied on free transfer - Egyptian Football

Zamalek have signed Swedish-Palestinian winger Adam Kaied on a free transfer, the Egyptian club announced on Sunday. The 23-year-old joins on a three-year deal after the expiration of his contract with Dutch side NAC Breda, where he spent the past two-and-a-half seasons. Kaied made 17 appearances in all competitions last season for Breda, scoring once. Born in Sweden to Palestinian parents, he represented Sweden at youth level before switching allegiance to Palestine, for whom he has earned two senior caps. He becomes Zamalek's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of goalkeeper El-Mahdi Soliman, Angolan winger Chico Banza, and Pharco FC attacking duo Amr Nasser and Ahmed Sherif. The club have also extended the contract of veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Saed for two more seasons and are close to signing NBE midfielder Ahmed Rabie. Zamalek are rebuilding their squad after a disappointing campaign last season, which saw them finish third in the Egyptian Premier League and exit the CAF Confederation Cup in the quarter-finals. The new league season is scheduled to begin in August. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at @AO_Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSports.) NBE Club sign winger Shalaby from Zamalek in swap deal - Egyptian Football

Egyptian Premier League side NBE Club have signed winger Mostafa Shalaby from Zamalek in a swap deal that will see midfielder Ahmed Rabie move in the opposite direction. As part of the agreement, NBE also acquired right back Sayed Abdallah from Zamalek, while the Cairo giants will gain the services of Rabie ahead of the new season. The 30-year-old joined Zamalek from Enppi in October 2022 but he failed to impress during his three seasons at the club. He made 102 appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing 15 assists. During his spell at Zamalek, Shalaby helped the team win the CAF Confederation Cup, the CAF Super Cup, and the Egyptian Cup. Zamalek slap EGP 1 mln fine on fullback Fatouh over disciplinary violation - Egyptian Football

Zamalek have fined fullback Ahmed Fatouh EGP 1 million for disciplinary reasons, the Cairo giants announced on Saturday. According to a statement on the club's official Facebook page, Zamalek also suspended the 27-year-old Egyptian international's dues and launched an investigation after he was seen attending a party without permission. Fatouh had reportedly left the team's ongoing training camp—part of preparations for the upcoming season—after citing a family emergency to visit his sick uncle. However, a video later surfaced showing him at a party on the North Coast. Fatouh, who joined Zamalek from Smouha in October 2020, has been a key player in recent seasons. He has scored six goals in 179 appearances across all competitions for the club. The new Egyptian Premier League season is set to kick off on 8 August.
