Zuhair Murad continues Hollywood premiere streak
DUBAI: Lebanese designer-to-the-stars Zuhair Murad continues to dress Hollywood's TV and silver screen actors, with the likes of Krysten Ritter and Maria Gabriela De Faria donning his designs on the red carpet as of late. For her part, US actress Ritter hit the red carpet at the premiere of TV series 'Dexter Resurrection' in New York in a black high neck gown with silver star detailing from Murad's ready-to-wear pre-fall 2025 collection. 'What a dream of a dress you guys gave me,' De Faria commented on the fashion house's Instagram post about the gown this week. Murad seems to have been heavily involved in the 'Superman' press tour, dressing lead star Rachel Brosnahan for the Rio de Janeiro premiere in late June. She wore a floor-length dress crafted from sheer navy blue fabric, adorned with geometric beadwork and sequins. The design featured a structured, plunging neckline with wide shoulder straps. The fitted bodice extended into a subtly flared mermaid-style skirt. Brosnahan takes on the role of Lois Lane in the upcoming film, directed by James Gunn. Since founding his brand in 1997, Murad has gained international attention. His creations have been worn by celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Taylor Swift, Celine Dion, Sofia Vergara, Kristen Stewart and Scarlett Johansson on major red carpets. He is one of a handful of Arab designers on the official Paris Fashion Week and Paris Haute Couture Week calendars. Murad was recently championed by British Lebanese actress Razane Jammal, who wore a black gown featuring a plunging neckline and tie detail at the waist from the designer's ready-to-wear Pre-Fall 2025 collection to the launch of the Panthere de Cartier collection in Istanbul in June. In April, American actress Blake Lively and singer songwriter Nicole Scherzinger both wore Zuhair Murad designs to the 2025 Time 100 Gala. Lively opted for a pink taffeta off-the-shoulder gown with a corseted bodice and train detail from Murad's Spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection. Scherzinger chose a black off-the-shoulder sequined gown from the designer's Pre-Fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection.

Lebanese couturier Zuhair Murad redraws desire and breaks down the door of destiny
Amid the surprising transformations presented by the major houses and summarized by a hypnotic performance from Broadway producer Jordan Roth at the Louvre during 'Fashion Night,' Zuhair Murad took a radically opposite approach: fidelity to oneself. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel or create digital avatars, he chose to further refine his own vocabulary. The collection, presented at the Museum of Decorative Arts, is entitled 'A Sheer Desire,' an ode to desire expressed and understood without disguise. That title appeared on the invitation, held in a black-and-white photograph between two gloved fingers adorned with a precious bracelet, in the purest Hollywood his vibrant tribute to Hollywood's golden age, the Lebanese couturier evoked the radiance of a transfigured heroine. Zuhair Murad Resort 2026: Seize the Day (Wear)
For his latest resort collection, Zuhair Murad looked into the light with an expanded daywear range. It was a notable shift for the brand, as Murad put a new focus on introducing more casual and wearable pieces alongside his established eveningwear. More than anything, however, the collection expanded Murad's offering with a clear focus on providing more options, including crisp cottons, lace separates, and breezy silk chiffon pieces for his client. He went with simpler cuts, shorter hemlines, and fewer embellishments. Sequined and velvet shorts were replaced with light cotton versions, and silk shantung minidresses offered a subtle sheen without relying on heavy beading. Embroidery appeared more sparingly, such as at the V-neck and cuffs. He also introduced more slim silhouettes, such as pencil skirts and cropped mini trench jackets in white with studded details that added energy without excess. The Lebanese designer said it was in direct response to customer and retailer requests. The simpler designs also allowed for new styling opportunities and underscored a broader push to take the brand into accessories. Following a limited range of evening bags and belts, this season Murad introduced large chunky bracelets, brooches, and new embellished and monogrammed handbag styles designed to work with the cleaner silhouettes. The accessories will be positioned as a potential key growth category. Still, Murad is a red carpet favorite and there was plenty for his celebrity clientele. Here he also responded to demand, noting that stars are still looking for glam but requesting simpler shapes and less bling. He answered with sari-inspired gowns featuring asymmetric draping and jewel-toned embroidery, toned down overall from his established style but still making an impact. Following the recent openings of boutiques in Beirut, Dubai and Qatar, Murad is eyeing opening a daywear-focused store in Paris, aiming for early 2026. Zuhair Murad Resort 2026 Collection
In Zuhair Murad's world, opulence is always in season. Even so, with Resort the designer pushed it one step further by lavishing jewels on clothing, from piercing-style trimmings and shimmying pearls to winking crescent moon embroidery and straight-up Maharaja grandeur. Focusing on the intricacies of craftsmanship, the designer reckons, is the best tactic for keeping good vibes flowing in the studio. And, as any jewelry lover can attest, such adornments can also be armor. Here, Murad drew inspiration from the Orientalist trend of a century ago, arranging color, crystals, embroidery and faux pearls into chokers, sautoirs, baubles and brooches or working them directly into the drape of a dress. Day wear was fair game, too: a blazer might have an integrated scarf with piercings—pearls, charms, crystals, the brand's sunburst logo—running the length of its edge; those elements could also be found on an easy jumpsuit with a panel scarf meant to 'give daywear a touch of evening.' While many shapes here were familiar, the designer also tried a few new ones, such as balloon-y pants that scrunched at the ankles, or a shantung silk tunic with tie closures, seed pearls and gradient floral embroidery. A restrained palette of oyster beige, baby's breath pink or black was punched up here and there with sage green or canary yellow, for example on a relatively spare openwork dress. But mostly, this collection was all about jewelry-as-attire. On one dress, a jeweled body harness ran from choker to hips with a sensuality of movement that is lost in a still. A tapestry of gems appeared on a transparent mesh bodysuit that, in some very specific contexts, might conceivably venture out under a jacket in broad daylight but will come into its own by night. Murad does know when to pull back, however. A pink dress, for example, stood out for its simplicity, embellished with nothing more than fan pleating. Asymmetrical lace placements brought lashings of sheer to otherwise unembellished dresses. A couple of georgette dresses with contrasting lace inlay, and another number in Italianate print made room for a little more romance. New accessories included brooches designed to wear on jacket lapels, as halter ties, or as embellishments on goddess gowns in jersey. Resort means ready-to-wear, but couture ideas are always in the mix— and what is couture but a space to dream? In an uncertain world, it's as good a coping mechanism as any.
