Payday chaos as Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland go down leaving 1,000s of customers unable to access banking apps

CUSTOMERS of three major banks have reported problems accessing their mobile banking this morning. Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland are all having issues, according to reports on outage monitor Downdetector. 1 Some 780 people have reported issues with Lloyds, while 402 reports have been made about Halifax. Bank of Scotland, which has fewer customers, peaked at 73 reports. Most people are reporting problems with their mobile banking apps. All three of the banks are under Lloyds Banking Group, which could explain why they have gone down at the same time. The disruption appears to have started just after 5am today. Dozens of customers say the app is crashing just after being opened. One said: "I'm also unable to use the Lloyds bank app on iOS . The last update seems to have broken the app. It opens and crashes immediately." Another wrote: "my banking app will not let me log in and I need to pay some bills." A third added: "I am having the same issue with my lloyds mobile app From last 2 hours." A Lloyds customer service adviser said in response: "Sorry about this. Some customers are having issues with our app right now. Bear with us as we fix this." One customer pointed out that the Lloyds app had just received an update yesterday. The issue comes just as millions of people are due to be paid today. One angry customer wrote: "Lloyds banking group apps down again. Seems like every payday!" Another said: "Come on @LloydsBank what's going on with App it's payday." A particularly frustrated commenter said: "@LloydsBank are a joke. App not working on payday. That's great. And yes, I've uninstalled/reinstalled, closed it, opened it. It's just s***." A fourth said: "@LloydsBank your banking app is down on payday really. I've just transferred money from another bank to Lloyds so I can pay my bills. "And now I can't get access to my money as my app keeps crashing!"
