Anant & Radhika Ambani wedding ceremony: 365 days later, the culturally rich wedding that redefined India's global image
It's been a year since the union of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, a wedding that didn't just make headlines but etched itself into the cultural consciousness of a nation. In July 2024, the Ambani wedding was not merely a spectacular celebration of love; it was a resounding showcase of India, which showcased its sacred traditions, spiritual depth, and boundless hospitality. View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Times of India (@timesofindia) From the hallowed chants at Jamnagar to the exquisite recreations of Banaras at the Jio World Centre, every element was steeped in meaning. It was a wedding that reaffirmed what India truly stands for - sanskriti, samarasata, and sambandh (culture, harmony, and connection). More than a wedding: A cultural landmark In an age of fast trends and fleeting moments, the Ambani wedding stood still, rooted firmly in the timelessness of Hindu customs. From Grah Shanti and Shiv Shakti Puja to the joyous Sangeet and soulful Bhajans, the couple chose to honour every ritual with reverence. It wasn't just a performance, it was a heartfelt prayer. It wasn't grandeur for spectacle's sake; it was tradition, celebrated and lived. This authenticity touched a chord with people across the globe. The wedding became India's soft power moment with its art, attire, and ethos broadcast to billions, making the world pause and admire. A gathering like no other Never before had such a confluence of global dignitaries, spiritual leaders, and cultural icons gathered under one roof for a personal ceremony. From Prime Ministers and Presidents to CEOs and celebrities, every guest from Varanasi to Vienna was drawn into a world where Bharat was the soul of the experience. Religious leaders from every corner of the Vedic spectrum blessed the couple. Heads of state and titans of industry joined in ceremonies that have been performed for millennia. It was India's unique ability to merge the spiritual with the spectacular. Seva before celebration Before the festivities began, the Ambani family anchored the moment in seva. A Samuhik Vivah (mass wedding) was held for 50 underprivileged couples. Daily community kitchens fed over 1,000 people for three weeks. In true Indian spirit, joy was shared, not hoarded. Every staff member from the Ambani households, across cities, was invited for a special reception, ensuring those who make a home function were part of the celebration, too. An ode to India's eternal soul On the wedding day, the venue transformed into 'An Ode to Banaras', a sacred, living museum of the ghats, arts, crafts, and cuisines of one of the world's oldest cities. Guests walked through the recreated lanes of Kashi, absorbing the timeless rhythms of Indian spirituality. The dress code, resplendently Indian, wasn't a formality. It became a tribute. Sarees shimmered, bandhgalas stood tall, and India's centuries-old textile traditions came alive, turning every guest into an ambassador of its beauty. The legacy of a moment One year later, what remains is not just the memory of a grand wedding, but a cultural benchmark. Anant and Radhika's union became a moment of reckoning for how India presents itself to the world: not as a country of contradictions, but of confluence. A nation where modern ambition bows to ancient wisdom. Where faith and fashion walk hand in hand. Where celebrations begin with service.

Everyone can see the 6's but only the most intelligent can spot the 0 in this mind boggling illusion in under 8 seconds
Plus, why optical illusions are good for your brain SQUARE EYES Everyone can see the 6's but only the most intelligent can spot the 0 in this mind boggling illusion in under 8 seconds THINK you're clever? Try this optical illusion. In the photo below, viewers are asked to spot the zero in amongst endless rows of the number six. 2 Can you find the 0 amongst the 6s? Credit: timesofindia The classic number illusion puzzle has rows and rows of nearly identical digits designed to mess with your eyes - and patience. But it's not as easy as it appears - inside the sea of sizes is a sneaky zero. The colour of the background doesn't help either - the dark blue makes it trickier to see. Meanwhile, we tend to view images from the centre outwards, meaning our periphery can be neglected, particularly when focusing on intricate details. Can you spot it? If that's a yes, how long did it take you? Optical illusions like this one are not just quirky brain teasers, they are a legitimate workout for your brain. Think of them as being Sudoku's cooler, visual cousin... They boost focus and attention to detail; finding the odd one out forces your brain to slow down. They also improve visual memory as your brain starts to learn how to memorise patterns and shapes. If you still haven't spotted the zero... keep scanning through the patterns line by line and zoom in on the subtle variations. Everyone can see the pearls, but you need the eyes of a hawk to spot the diamond in less than 10 seconds Since six and zero are circular cousins, the difference is really subtle. Still not found it? Count eight lines from the bottom upwards, and then 10 inwards from the right. There it is! 2 There is the 0! Credit: timesofindia If you enjoy that optical illusion, why not see if you can spot the number 879 in under eight seconds in this one? There's also a sea of B's in this optical illusion, but where is the number eight hiding? What about testing your eyesight by spotting the word 'Ball' in this mind-boggling illusion? If you want to continue to challenge your brain further, you can find a range of optical illusions on our website.

Watch: Plane crashes near Ahmedabad airport; smoke billows from crash site
Smoke from crash site NEW DELHI: A passenger plane operated by Air India, flying from Ahmedabad to London, crashed moments after departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft plunged into the Meghani locality within the city limits. Thick black smoke could be seen coming from crash site. — timesofindia (@timesofindia) The aircraft, bound for London, plunged into the Meghani area of the city, sending up a massive plume of black smoke and triggering an immediate emergency response. As per the initial reports, the aircraft, a wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner, had a capacity of around 300 passengers and was carrying 290 people at the time of the crash. The flight was heavily fueled for the long-haul journey, adding to the intensity of the explosion and fire that followed the crash. Multiple fire engines and ambulances were sent to the crash site to carry out rescue operations. There is currently no official confirmation on casualties. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was expected to initiate a formal investigation, along with a possible technical team from Boeing. Experts suggest that the heavy fuel load for the international route could have worsened the post-crash fire, complicating rescue efforts. Union home minister Amit Shah spoke to Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel, state home minister Harsh Sanghavi, and the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner regarding the incident. He assured that the Central govt will provide all necessary assistance to the state in managing the aftermath and investigation of the crash.
