Transition Industries signs HoA for Pacifico Mexinol Project in Mexico
Transition Industries has signed a heads of agreement (HoA) with Bonatti for the Pacifico Mexinol project in Sinaloa, Mexico. This collaboration focuses on critical infrastructure, aiming to establish the world's largest standalone ultra-low carbon chemical production facility, producing 6,130 tonnes (t) of methanol per day. Under the agreement, Bonatti will handle detailed engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup for upgrading port facilities and the jetty at the Terminal Transoceánica de Topolobampo. This location will facilitate all methanol loading operations for export. Additionally, Bonatti will manage the methanol transfer and vapour recovery pipelines and dual fibreoptic cables between the Methanol main process plant and the Mexinol port site. The agreement also allows Bonatti to construct a closed-loop water pipeline system from the JAPAMA oxidation pools to the site. This system will treat and recycle municipal wastewater, enabling the Pacifico Mexinol site to become one of the largest industrial water reuse applications globally. This approach aims to minimise environmental impact by avoiding freshwater sources and protecting the Bay of Ohuira. Balmore Brito, Transition Industries' Pacifico Mexinol project director, said: 'We are proud to have Bonatti, a world-leader in pipeline EPCs, as part of our execution team. 'Their international expertise coupled with their local field experience and knowledge operating in Ahome Municipality, Sinaloa, is good for the project and the local communities near where we operate. Bonatti shares our unwavering commitment to environmental and social sustainability.' Gustavo Blejer, Bonatti's commercial director for the Americas, said: 'We are thrilled to be part of this flagship project, which marks an important step toward decarbonisation. This is a great opportunity to combine Bonatti's global expertise with our strong local experience, and to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ahome, Sinaloa, and Mexico.' Transition Industries is collaborating with the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group, on the Pacifico Mexinol project. Set to begin operations in 2029, the facility is expected to produce 350,000t of green methanol and 1.8 million tonnes of blue methanol annually using natural gas with carbon capture. RBC and Bank of Montreal explore sale of payments JV Moneris
The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and Bank of Montreal are considering the sale of their jointly owned payment processing unit, Moneris, which could be valued at up to $2bn, reported Reuters. Moneris is the payment processor in Canada, offering a range of payment solutions to approximately 325,000 merchant locations across the country. The discussions around the sale are at an early stage, with the banks assessing interest in the joint venture. PJT Partners, a boutique investment bank, along with bankers from RBC Capital Markets and BMO Capital Markets, are providing advisory services for the potential divestiture. The venture's $700m of annual revenue, has led to estimations that its market valuation could be close to $2bn, although the final amount could be marginally lower. It is important to note that the sale is not a certainty, the report said. Depending on how the process progresses and the level of interest from prospective buyers, the banks may choose to either proceed with the sale or maintain their ownership of Moneris in full or in part, the report added. Reuters' requests for comments from BMO, Moneris, and PJT Partners have not been met with responses, and RBC has not provided a comment on the matter. In March, Moneris partnered with payment technology provider Cardstream. This partnership is aimed at enhancing the company's Payment Facilitation-as-a-Service (PFaaS) platform, which is designed to support the expansion and integrated offerings of its ISV and ISO partners in the Canadian market. Last year, Moneris also introduced a new point-of-sale system, Moneris Go Retail POS, targeting small businesses and focusing on streamlining store operations. Chipotle faces wary diners, tech push, big menu bets
Opening Bid Unfiltered is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts. Chipotle (CMG) has only known high growth over the past decade. High growth in terms of new store openings, sales, and earnings. That's primarily because of the company's generous portion sizes and messaging of healthier ingredients to increasingly health-conscious consumers. But now, the argument could be made that Chipotle is heading into an interesting five-year period. The company is adding new technology to its restaurants to drive efficiency. It's expanding into new countries such as Mexico. And it's picking up the pace of new menu offerings. All of this comes as new fast casual restaurant concepts sprout in Chipotle's backyard. Consumers continue to be cautious about eating out as menu prices have risen. Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi discusses the Opening Bid Unfiltered podcast with Chipotle CEO Scott Boatwright. Boatwright has settled into the Chipotle CEO job and will be tasked with driving the company forward in this critical period. Listen on your favorite podcast platform or watch on our website for full episodes of Opening Bid Unfiltered. Yahoo Finance's Opening Bid Unfiltered is produced by Langston Sessoms. Recruiting Roundup: Why Alister Vallejo spurned Notre Dame for Michigan
The Michigan Wolverines went on an impressive run on the recruiting trail earlier in the summer, and one player who committed to the program is four-star defensive lineman Alister Vallejo. Notre Dame felt pretty good about securing a commitment from him prior to him picking Michigan. We'll talk about that decision and more in today's Recruiting Roundup. Notre Dame recruited Vallejo hard, but just like the last time the two teams met on the gridiron, the Wolverines beat the Fighting Irish. What put Michigan above Notre Dame at the end of the day was his bond with the coaching staff. 'For me, it was the relationships,' Vallejo told On3's EJ Holland ($). 'Just the relationships I had with the people there like coach (Lou) Esposito. It was the best relationship in my recruiting process. The people there — not just the people I'm going to be primarily involved with — are amazing. 'They are amazing people. Coach Moore called me before practice the other day and wanted to check up on me. He call me once a week or every other week. He's just a great guy and cares for the people around him. So does coach Esposito. He's constantly texting me and making sure I'm good. Coach Denham texts me every day as well and tells me 'go be a dawg.'' Vallejo is expected to be an impact player in the future, and the Michigan staff has even compared him to Mason Graham. 'It's awesome,' Vallejo said. 'It's a huge compliment to be compared to someone like (Graham). He was definitely brought up (by the staff).' Since committing to Michigan, Vallejo has seen his recruiting ranking rise. Some more teams are starting to recruit him — including Miami, which offered him a scholarship this summer. However, he remains happy with his decision. 'More schools have started to pick up on me and reach out,' Vallejo admitted. 'I like where I am right now. If they want to recruit me, there is nothing I can do about it.' It's always fun when Michigan gets a win against Notre Dame, and since the Fighting Irish don't want to play the Wolverines on the field, those victories have to come on the recruiting trail for now. One player to watch in the 2027 class is four-star athlete Colt Lumpris. The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder is being recruited to play tight end, but he is primarily being recruited at the moment by offensive line coach Grant Newsome. That's because the two of them share something in common. 'We've just got that connection because he's from my school,' Lumpris told On3's Ethan McDowell ($). 'He gets everything about it. We could talk about pretty much anything because he gets it all.' That connection could end up paying off for the Wolverines, and the academic prestige of the university might as well. 'I'm big on education because I go to a very high academic school,' Lumpris said. 'Also great football and just having good connections with the coaches and everyone there in general.' At the end of the day, Lumris understands there is a lot more than just football that needs to go into his college decision. 'It'll definitely come down to not just football,' Lumpris said. 'It's the connections that you have with people.' Lumpris is hoping to visit Ann Arbor when Michigan hosts Ohio State at the end of the regular season. He also holds offers from Ohio State, Ole Miss, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and more. A massive decision is coming tomorrow, as 2026 five-star running back Savion Hiter is announcing his college decision. Michigan and Tennessee appear to be the favorites. He is the No. 1 running back in the 2026 class and a Top-10 overall player.
