Bollywood's Khiladi Akshay Kumar is one of the busiest actors of the Hindi film industry. We are half-way into 2025 and the star has already had three releases —Sky Force, Kesari Chapter 2 and Housefull 5. Just days after his latest film arrived in theatres, Akshay is now deep into promotions for his next project Kannappa. In the upcoming Telugu-language mythological film, the actor will be seen as Lord Shiva, a character he won hearts with once before in 2023 thanks to OMG 2. Well, another much-awaited project in his line-up is Hera Pheri 3, which has sadly seen many ups and downs this month. Much to the delight of fans, Akshay finally has an update.
More than an update, Akshay Kumar's latest statement about Hera Pheri 3 is a reassurance for fans. Before we dive into the same, let's get you caught up — in May, Akshay and Suniel Shetty's co-star Paresh Rawal aka Babu Bhaiya confirmed his exit from Hera Pheri 3, leaving fans and the team shocked. He was later sent a legal notice with Akshay suing him for ₹25 crore. Last week, when Paresh was called the hero of the film by a netizen, the actor shared a tweet claiming that Hera Pheri 3 has 3 heroes. This left internet users wondering if Paresh had changed his mind and was returning to the movie. Well, in a chat with Pinkvilla, Akshay has now shared, 'Whatever is happening is happening in front of you.'

Akshay, who is all set to return to our screens as the beloved Raju, went on to add, 'Keeping my fingers crossed. I hope everything goes well. Everything will go well only. I know, for sure.' There are many netizens who are hoping that Paresh's exit from the film turns out to be nothing more than a publicity stunt for Hera Pheri 3. However, that is just wishful thinking at this point and we will have to wait for the makers to shed light on the same.

Akshay Kumar breaks silence on whether Paresh Rawal will be in Hera Pheri 3 or not: 'Fingers crossed...'

One of the much-loved Bollywood franchises, Hera Pheri has long held a special place in the hearts of Bollywood fans, thanks to the chemistry between its iconic trio — Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal. Recently, when Paresh Rawal confirmed his decision to walk away from Hera Pheri 3 , the news broke fans' hearts into multiple pieces. Now, finally, we have something coming from Akshay Kumar as well. He has spoken about the controversy, assuring fans that he's staying optimistic. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, the actor said, 'Whatever is happening is happening in front of you. Keeping my fingers crossed. I hope everything goes well. Everything will go well only. I know, for sure.' Why did Paresh Rawal quit? Paresh Rawal initially took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that he would not be reprising his role as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in Hera Pheri 3 . While fans speculated about behind-the-scenes drama, the veteran actor quickly clarified that his departure had nothing to do with creative differences. In an interview with Mid-Day , Paresh said, 'I love Priyadarshan and have great respect for him. We've done amazing films together and will continue to. This decision wasn't about money or disagreements. It's just a role I didn't feel like doing at this point.' Legal trouble brewing? Following his exit, things reportedly turned sour on the legal front. Pooja Tidke, Joint Managing Partner of Parinam Law Associates, which represents Kumar's production banner, said, 'I think there will be severe legal consequences. It's, of course, hurt the franchise. We have written to him letting him know that there are a lot of legal consequences involved. There have been expenses incurred towards the cast, the crew, senior actors, logistics, equipment, and the shooting of the trailer.' On May 25, Paresh responded via social media, saying, 'My lawyer, Ameet Naik, has sent an appropriate response regarding my rightful termination and exit. Once they read my response, all issues will be laid to rest.' Fans react Fans have expressed deep disappointment, with many believing that Hera Pheri 3 wouldn't be complete without Baburao. Social media is filled with emotional appeals urging the actor to reconsider. Some even argue the film should be shelved if Paresh isn't involved. As of now, it remains unclear whether Paresh will return or if the team will move forward without him. But with Akshay Kumar's hopeful tone, fans still have their fingers crossed for a happy reunion.

Akshay Kumar believes Hera Pheri 3 can be successful without Paresh Rawal: ‘I hope everything goes well…'

When actor Paresh Rawal announced his exit from Hera Pheri 3, he left his co-stars, director and fans shocked. Although it was initially reported that Rawal decided to quit due to creative differences with Priyadarshan, both the actor and director confirmed that this was not true. In a recent interview, Kumar talked about Rawal's untimely exit from the project and everything that has followed since then. In an interview with Pinkvilla, the actor said, 'Whatever is happening is happening in front of you. Keeping my fingers crossed. I hope everything goes well, and it will. That I know for sure.' Paresh Rawal's character Baburao, who plays a proverbial bridge between Raju (Akshay Kumar) and Shyam (Suniel Shetty) in the Hera Pheri films, will be deeply missed by fans. His production company, Cape Of Good Film, decided to sue Rawal for Rs 25 crore, and the actor quickly put his own legal team to work. Rawal, who was reportedly going to be paid Rs 15 crore for the movie, returned his signing bonus of Rs 11 lakh with interest. But even though the amount was paid back, director Priyadarshan expressed his disappointment with the entire episode and told Mid-Day that Rawal could have 'picked up the phone and told me before going to the media.' His co-star Suniel Shetty also weighed in on his exit and revealed in an interview with India Today that he was completely out of the loop regarding Rawal's decision. 'Athiya and Ahan (his children) sent the news to me, asking, 'Papa, what is this?'' And I was here doing my interviews, and I felt like, 'Holy s***.'' He also told ANI that without Rawal's presence, there is a 100% chance that the movie will not work. Akshay Kumar, who is currently basking in the success of Housefull 5 at the box office, talked to the media about the situation while promoting the film. Despite suing Rawal and being distraught about his exit, Kumar defended his co-star when a reporter called Rawal's actions 'foolish' and said, 'Let me first tell you that using a word like 'foolish' for my co-star is something I won't appreciate.' He added, 'It is not right. I have worked with him for the last 32 years. We are very good friends. He is a great actor. I really admire him.'
