Ajith Kumar Calls Himself An 'Accidental Actor'; Here's Why
Ajith Kumar made his acting debut in 1990 with the Tamil film En Veedu En Kanavar. However, his first lead role was for the Telugu film Prema Pusthakam.
Days after Ajith Kumar was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, he has now called himself an 'accidental actor". In a recent interview, Ajith recalled his acting journey and shared how he had never planned to be a part of the showbiz world.
'Acting was never on my radar. I am an accidental actor. After school, I started working in an auto manufacturing company for about six months. I was 18 when I started racing motorcycles. I remember my father said that it is a very expensive sport and we cannot support you, but you must find your way. I was at the race track when I was approached by a model coordinator who gave me a visiting card and said if I am interested, then give me a call back. Then, before I started realising, I started doing print ads and TV commercials," Ajith told India Today.
Ajith further shared that he did not enter the film world to seek fame but to repay his debts. 'I told them that I know that I am leaping in the dark. But imagine all those people who want to be in my position and see that I have been approached by a production company and I refused, imagine how angry they would feel… That's how I became an actor. I gave a journalist an answer that I had debts and the idea was to a couple of films and if I did become successful and repay my debts. I didn't come to the industry seeking fame," he added.
Ajith Kumar made his acting debut in 1990 with the Tamil film En Veedu En Kanavar. However, his first lead role was for the Telugu film Prema Pusthakam. Ajith was recently seen in Good Bad Ugly. The film, which also starred Trisha Krishnan in the lead, received positive reviews from all.

Green India Challenge launches seed Ganeshas
As a symbol of tradition and environmental conservation, former Rajya Sabha MP and Green India Challenge (GIC) founder Joginapally Santosh Kumar, along with Telugu actor-producer Nara Rohith, unveiled eco-friendly seed Ganesha idols. Mr. Santosh Kumar presented the idols to devotees and staff at the Swarnagiri temple. With Ganesh Chaturthi around the corner, the aim of the initiative is to distribute 5,000 seed Ganesha idols free of charge. Crafted from natural clay, cocopeat, and coco powder, each idol is embedded with seeds of native trees like neem and tamarind. After the rituals, the idols can be immersed in soil, allowing the seeds to sprout into saplings that can later be transplanted into homes, parks, and public spaces, creating lasting green legacies. 'In today's era of pollution and ecological stress, planting and nurturing trees is not a choice but a necessity. The seed Ganesha initiative beautifully blends spirituality with sustainability,' he said in a statement. Over the years, the GIC has distributed 1.5 lakh seed Ganesha idols annually, and this year, it aims to reach 5 lakh idols, spreading the message of sustainability far and wide.
