DP World to build Pakistan Mart in UAE at zero cost
The delegation was led by Director General NLC, who met the Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan on Wednesday, read a statement on Wednesday/
Also present were Fakhr-e-Alam, Vice Chairman DP World and CEO of Pakistan Mart Project in the UAE, Rana Ihsaan Afzal, Coordinator to the Prime Minister, and Muhammad Ashraf, Executive Director General from the Ministry of Commerce.
According to the statement, DP World pledged its full support by constructing this flagship project at zero construction cost for Pakistani stakeholders.

'The proposed Pakistan Mart will include commercial units, designed to house warehouses, retail shops, showrooms, and e-commerce fulfilment centres for Pakistani exporters and traders,' read the statement.
The mart is envisioned as a one-stop marketplace to showcase Made-in-Pakistan products to Middle Eastern, African, and international buyers.
Jam Kamal hailed the initiative as a 'transformational project' for Pakistani trade and export visibility.
He emphasised the potential of sectors such as textiles, garments, surgical instruments, sports goods, food items, perishables, and nutraceuticals, noting that they are well-positioned to take advantage of this opportunity.
He added that the mart must also cater to e-commerce fulfilment and logistics solutions to tap into the growing digital export market.
The commerce minister directed all relevant departments of the Ministry of Commerce, including the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), to urgently coordinate and support the development of this initiative.
He assured the delegation of the government's full facilitation in streamlining processes and identifying export-ready enterprises to occupy the upcoming facility.
The delegation of NLC and DP World urged the Ministry of Commerce to play an enabling role in selecting tenants, ensuring awareness campaigns, and supporting exporters in utilising this golden opportunity.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is on an official visit to the United States, where he has engaged in high-level meetings with senior political and military leadership as well as members of the Pakistani diaspora, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday. On the sidelines, he also interacted with chiefs of defence from friendly nations. In an interactive session with the Pakistani diaspora, the army chief urged expatriates to remain confident in the country's future and to contribute towards attracting investments. The diaspora, in turn, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Pakistan's progress and development. This marks army chief's second official visit to the US in two months since the May standoff with India. The visit comes amid rising tensions between the US and India, which culminated this week when Trump said he'd impose a 50% tariff on Indian exports to the US — half of which includes a penalty for purchases of Russian oil. Even though Trump left some wiggle room to strike a deal, his vitriolic comments about India are upending a decades-long push by the US to court the world's most populous country as a counterweight to China. Trump this month slammed India as a 'dead' economy with 'obnoxious' trade barriers and little concern for Ukrainians killed in battles with Russia. While Modi and Trump haven't chatted since that June call, the Indian leader on Friday spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and invited him to visit later this year.

Kazakhstan offers to fully fund new trade corridors

The initiative seeks to replace difficult existing land routes with improved connectivity, boosting bilateral and regional trade, according to an official statement issued Saturday. In a meeting with Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, Kistafin confirmed that the president of Kazakhstan's will make a two-day official visit to Pakistan in the first week of November. The visit is expected to produce major breakthroughs in bilateral ties. Ahead of the visit, Joint Working Groups between Pakistan and Kazakhstan will be established in the fields of commerce and transport. Kistafin expressed Kazakhstan's strong interest in expanding bilateral trade with Pakistan and discussed the existing corridor from Kashgar to Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. He also proposed upgrades to the Karachi-Chaman-Kandahar trade route, which is currently in use. Aleem Khan assured the Kazakh Ambassador to Pakistan of full cooperation, reiterating Pakistan's commitment to building trade corridors to Central Asia via China, Afghanistan, and Iran. He cited recent international conferences in Belarus and Iran, noting the role of regional states in promoting cross-border trade through land routes. The minister said Pakistan aims to develop an inter-country road network similar to the Karakoram Highway. Pending matters with the National Logistics Cell (NLC) regarding trade agreements were also reviewed during the meeting. Federal Secretary for Communications Ali Sher Mehsud attended the meeting.

MoFA discusses visa reforms
ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Saturday extensively discussed visa reforms aimed at extending maximum facilitation to Pakistani diaspora and attract investment into the country. According to the Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/ FM), Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level meeting at MoFA to review the progress of visa process reforms initiated in 2024 at Pakistan's missions abroad. The meeting focused on streamlining procedures, improving transparency, and ensuring fast-track visa services for overseas Pakistani nationals, investors, and the business community. Pakistan, UAE sign visa exemption agreement for select passport holders Dar deliberated upon the implementation of reforms introduced under his guidance, aimed at modernising and digitising visa services. Pakistan had already introduced e-visa service for many countries. The meeting highlighted the need for further procedural simplifications to reduce processing times and enhance user experience. The deputy premier issued directives to missions to prioritise applications from the Pakistani diaspora and foreign investors to facilitate travel and business opportunities. The meeting was told that the reforms are part of the government's broader efforts to improve consular services, attract foreign investment, and strengthen engagement with overseas Pakistanis.
