The scenic hills of Madikeri are currently hosting the team of a new spooky story. Daiji, a psychological horror thriller, is currently on the floors, and marks the 106th film of actor Ramesh Aravind. This project marks Ramesh's third collaboration with director Akash Srivatsa, who previously helmed Shivaji Surathkal.
About fifty per cent of the shooting is complete, and the latest development is that Gaalipata star Diganth has been roped in for the project. This is the first time the two popular actors will be seen together on screen. Known for his romantic and light-hearted roles, Diganth's casting adds a fresh combination to the film, and Akash believes that the duo bring a strong emotional dynamic that's central to the story.
Expressing his excitement about teaming up with Ramesh Aravind, Diganth says that it is a dream come true. 'Ramesh Aravind has been my favourite hero for as long as I can remember—and not just mine, but he has been the favourite of my entire family,' Diganth shares. 'At home, my parents always allowed me to watch his films. He's my mother's all-time favourite. I still remember when he came to Thirthahalli for a shoot—my mom stood there, completely starstruck. I even told her, 'Stop staring at him so much!' So I want to dedicate this film to my mother. It's my way of saying thank you—for introducing me to good cinema and to someone who inspired me.'
Praising the veteran actor's versatility, Diganth says, 'Watching Ramesh sir's performances—his dialogue delivery, comic timing, and ability to ace even serious roles—is amazing. And look at the hits he's delivered, one after another.'

Among their many shared interests, actor-couple Diganth Manchale and Aindrita Ray both have a strong passion for cycling. This passion goes back to their respective childhood days. 'I grew up in a small town, and the one thing my friends and I did was cycle,' shares Diganth. Aindrita adds, 'I lived in the defense apartments, and back then evening bike rides with all the neighbourhood kids were a favourite.' As cyclists who swear by the advantages of owning good gear, they emphasise that it doesn't pay to skimp on quality. 'A good helmet is a must. You'll also want to invest in padded cycling shorts to counter the firmness of the seats,' explains Diganth. Aindrita recounts a personal experience, sharing that she got away with just bruises after falling off her cycle once, 'thanks to the good-quality gloves. I can't imagine what would have happened otherwise.' 'FOR US, CYCLING IS NEVER MONOTONOUS' While Bengaluru once offered scenic routes for cyclists, Diganth and Aindrita lament that traffic has now taken over. The couple now head to scenic destinations like Nandi Hills, Sakleshpur, or Chikmagalur for their cycling adventures. 'The roads are emptier, and the views are just amazing. Honestly, with scenery like that, , it doesn't even feel like we're working out!' avers Aindrita. Diganth adds, 'This way, cycling never gets monotonous for us. ' 'BENGALURU HAS THE PERFECT TERRAIN FOR CYCLING, BUT…' Bengaluru's once-vibrant cycling culture has unfortunately, dwindled, Diganth and Aindrita observe. 'Back in the day, the city streets were bustling with cyclist. But now, there's just no space to cycle. Buildings and traffic have taken over, even though Bengaluru has the perfect terrain for it,' Diganth shares. Aindrita adds, 'There's a dedicated cycling track near Cubbon Park, but it's only about a 2km stretch. We hope Bengaluru will implement dedicated cycle lanes for enthusiasts like us. Radhika, Diganth and Ramesh Aravind Diganth Manchale is coming aboard Ramesh Aravind 's next. For the first time ever, the two actors will share screen space in Daiji , a film directed by Akash Srivatsa , Bangalore Times has exclusively learnt. The duo are set to play brothers, and in a nostalgic nod to Ramesh's cult classic, America America , their character names echo those from the Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar-directed film, Akash Srivatsa tells us. 'Ramesh sir plays Surya, Diganth essays Gagan, and Radhika Narayan plays Bhumi,' shares Akash, and reveals that the role was written with Diganth in mind. 'Since our film is a psychological thriller , Diganth's character brings in a softness and comic relief. He's the one who carries happala (papad) and uppinkayi (pickle) when he visits his brother in the UK,' he says.
