Hrithik Roshan's ‘War 2' emerges as his 11th biggest Hindi grosser in just 2 days
The YRF Spy Universe is back in action, and
Hrithik Roshan
's latest release War 2 is making waves at the box office. Co-starring
Jr. NTR
and directed by Ayan Mukerji, the much-anticipated sequel has stormed into cinemas with a phenomenal start, collecting a massive Rs 73 crore net in Hindi within just two days of release, while overall collection across languages stand at Rs 108 crore.
T
he film opened on a high note with Rs 29 crore on Day 1 (Thursday) despite a mid-week debut. On Day 2 (Friday), the Independence Day holiday gave a significant boost, pushing collections to Rs 44 crore, taking the film's Hindi total to Rs 73 crore. These numbers have already placed War 2 in elite territory it now stands as the 11th biggest Hindi grosser of Hrithik Roshan's career, surpassing several of his earlier hits.
To put this achievement in perspective, here is Hrithik Roshan's current list of Top 10 Hindi grossers:
War Rs 303.34 crore
Krrish
3 : Rs 231.79 crore
Fighter : Rs 212.79 crore
Bang Bang! : Rs 174.51 crore
Super 30 : Rs 147.39 crore
Agneepath : Rs 118.20 crore
Kaabil : Rs 104.34 crore
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
: Rs 89.98 crore
Dhoom 2 : Rs 80.91 crore
Vikram Vedha : Rs 78.90 crore
With War 2 racing to Rs 73 crore in just two days, it has already crossed the lifetime collections of several other films in Hrithik's filmography outside the Top 10. That instantly positions it as the 11th biggest Hindi hit of Hrithik's career and that too at lightning speed.
What makes this feat even more significant is the film's release timing and competition.
War 2 released on August 14, clashing with Rajinikanth's mass actioner Coolie. While Coolie has performed superbly in South markets and is holding well in Hindi belts, War 2 has clearly dominated the multiplex circuit, especially in metros like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The Jr. NTR factor has also amplified its appeal in the South, boosting nationwide footfalls.
Despite the negative reviews and its performance on Independence Day, the trade things War 2 is only getting started. With the extended Independence Day weekend still in play, industry projections suggest the film could breach the Rs 125 crore mark in Hindi by Sunday night. That would not only cement its place within Hrithik's Top 10 but also put it on course to challenge Agneepath (Rs 118.20 crore) and Super 30 (Rs 147.39 crore) in the days ahead.
For Hrithik Roshan, who already boasts some of the biggest blockbusters of the last two decades, War 2 is yet another reaffirmation of his box office supremacy.

Pavithra Menon's video mocking Param Sundari trailer, Janhvi Kapoor's accent removed by Instagram; singer responds: ‘Happy Independence Day'
Besides clocking over 43 million views on YouTube, the official trailer of director Tushar Jalota's Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles, has also attracted a flood of memes and ridicule, particularly aimed at its caricatured portrayal of Kerala and its culture. Soon after the promo video was unveiled, many took to social media to critique the movie, which appeared marred by stereotypes rooted in a purported apathy towards the state and the lives of its natives. Among those who criticised Param Sundari was Malayalam singer Pavithra Menon, who vehemently expressed her disapproval in a video analysing the various aspects of the film, particularly Janhvi's accent and attire as a Malayali woman. Now, Pavithra has revealed that Instagram removed her video after receiving a copyright strike from 'a third party'. The singer also shared a screenshot of the notice she received from the social media platform, which stated, 'We removed the following content you posted on Instagram because we received a notice from a third party that it infringes their copyright.' Taking a dig at this, she wrote in the caption, 'Happy Independence Day to everyone who has a voice.' In her video, Pavithra also criticised the makers for not casting a Malayalam actor in the lead role. The clip featured a few seconds of footage from the movie's trailer alongside Pavithra's reaction, where she asked, 'What's the problem in hiring a proper Malayali actor? Hum kam talented hote hain kya (Are we less talented)?' She continued, 'We have done such things in Malayalam films of the 90s when we had to show Punjabis (does an exaggerated balle balle). But now it's 2025. I think everybody knows how a Malayali talks, and how they are as normal as anybody else. We don't just wear jasmine flowers and do Mohiniyattam everywhere.' After Pavithra shared the notice on Instagram, many users rallied in support of her in the comments section. 'That means it reached the right ears. We'll done,' one netizen noted, while another person commented, 'They're scared of this also? Happy Independence Day ig.' An angry Instagrammer wrote, 'All Malayalis should submit a copyright infringement report against them for misrepresenting an entire state and its culture – they could have at least watched a few Malayalam movies for reference.' Pavithra later reuploaded her video on Instagram after removing footage from the movie's trailer. A post shared by PAVITHRA MENON (@pavithramenon) Besides Janhvi's accent and attire, as well as the many stereotypical images presented in the trailer, her character's name, Thekkupetta Sundari Damodaran Pillai, also attracted significant trolling, with many Malayalees pointing out that no Keralite has ever had a name even closely resembling that. Many native speakers also ridiculed the trailer, claiming they were unable to follow even a single word of the supposed Malayalam that Janhvi spoke. Also starring Renji Panicker, Siddhartha Shankar, Manjot Singh, Sanjay Kapoor and Inayat Verma, Param Sundari is bankrolled by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films. The movie will hit the screens on August 29.

Made for Rs 70 crore, this film had 2 heroes and 2 heroines, struggled at the Box Office but won 15 awards, movie name is...
Not every film finds its way into the audience's heart. In 2006, Karan Johar took a gamble with Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, a romantic drama exploring love outside marriage. With Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, and Amitabh Bachchan, the film was meant to redefine Bollywood romance. Instead, it stumbled, leaving fans and makers disappointed. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna: The plot The film followed Dev Saran (Shah Rukh Khan), a star footballer in New York whose career collapses after an accident. His marriage with journalist Rhea (Preity Zinta) begins to fracture. Across the city, Maya (Rani Mukerji), a school teacher, feels suffocated in her marriage to her childhood friend Rishi (Abhishek Bachchan). Two broken souls meet. Dev and Maya share their grief, and gradually, fall into a love they know is forbidden. Their extramarital bond triggers chaos, heartbreak, and moral dilemmas. The story was layered—love, betrayal, and the fragile threads of marriage—but it was also too daring for many in 2006. Shot abroad, felt at home Most of the film was shot in New York with a 90-day schedule, while a handful of sequences were completed in Mumbai studios. The global look, sleek sets, and grandeur were designed to impress, and the scale came with a cost—Rs 70 crore, a massive budget for its time. How did it perform at the Box Office? Despite the star power and media buzz, audiences weren't ready to embrace the subject. Many felt uncomfortable watching Bollywood's favourite romantic hero, Shah Rukh Khan, in the role of a man betraying his wife. The film struggled for acceptance and was far from being the massive hit Johar had envisioned. Still, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna managed a worldwide collection of Rs 110.26 crore, landing it in the 'semi-hit' zone. It may not have matched the hype, but it was no outright failure either. Nearly 20 years later, the film continues to spark debates. Was it ahead of its time, or simply too heavy-handed for audiences craving light-hearted love stories? According to IMDb, the film eventually won 15 awards, proving that while it divided viewers, it did not go unnoticed.
