PM Modi to inaugurate world's highest railway bridge in Jammu & Kashmir on June 6
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the world's highest railway bridge—the Chenab Bridge—in Jammu and Kashmir on June 6, marking a historic moment for India's infrastructure. Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office, confirmed the development on Tuesday and said, 'PM Modi will inaugurate the Chenab Bridge on June 6, which [is] billed to be a proud moment for India and Jammu and Kashmir.' The Chenab railway bridge, built across the River Chenab, is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL), a key connectivity project in the region. Dr Singh said the bridge has been constructed to withstand nature's toughest tests and is set to be an engineering marvel. In his first visit to the Union Territory following Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister will also flag off the Vande Bharat train between Katra and Kashmir. This will be the first Vande Bharat service in the region, and preparations are in full swing to ensure a smooth launch. Modi is also scheduled to address a public rally in Katra and inspect the Chenab Bridge during his visit. The original inauguration was planned for April 25 but had to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. The upcoming event is seen as part of a larger celebration of Narendra Modi's 11 years as Prime Minister, which will be marked on June 9. According to sources, the government is preparing for a nationwide outreach campaign to highlight key achievements during his tenure. Meanwhile, the local administration in Katra is working closely with Indian Railways to put all security and logistical arrangements in place ahead of the Prime Minister's visit.

Gujarat to build Sindoor Memorial Park near Indo-Pak border: Report
The Gujarat government is reportedly planning to establish a memorial park near the India–Pakistan border in Kutch district to commemorate Operation Sindoor. Operation Sindoor was launched on 7 May as a military response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, which claimed 26 lives. The planned memorial, named Sindoor Van, will pay tribute to the Indian armed forces and the collective spirit demonstrated by citizens during the operation. Van kavach to span eight hectares of forest land According to a report by The Indian Express, the park will feature a dense forest section, to be known as a van kavach, and is expected to be completed within a year. Citing unnamed officials, the report stated that groundwork for the memorial has already commenced. The van kavach will extend across approximately eight hectares of forest land in Mirzapar, along the Bhuj–Mandvi road. 'In memory of the unity exhibited by society, Army, Air Force, BSF and other forces during Operation Sindoor, the Sindoor Van — a memorial park — is being planned by the forest department,' said Kutch Collector Anand Patel, as quoted by the newspaper. Park to feature murals and tributes to armed forces A section of the park will be dedicated to the victims of the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The memorial will also include themed zones with murals honouring the BSF, Army, Navy and Air Force, according to Sandeep Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests, Kutch Circle. Interestingly, the proposed van kavach site includes the location where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting during his first visit to Gujarat following Operation Sindoor. Speaking on May 26, which also marked 11 years of his premiership, Modi said the military response to Pahalgam reflected India's resilience and values. Reflecting on the strike on terror camps in Pakistan, Modi stated, '...our valiant soldiers achieved a feat unseen by the world in decades. We pinpointed and confirmed the locations of nine major terrorist camps across the border.' He added that Indian forces destroyed the camps 'in just 22 minutes,' forcing Pakistan into a humiliating retreat. Operation Sindoor triggered a series of cross-border strikes and retaliations. Hostilities between India and Pakistan eventually subsided after both sides reached an understanding to cease military action on May 10.

Who is Habiba Soliman? Colorado attack suspect's daughter listed among ‘Best and Brightest' scholarship winners
Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, admitted to detectives that he plotted the Colorado attack for a year and intended to carry it out only after his daughter graduated from high school. An April article in the Colorado Springs Gazette highlighted Soliman's daughter, Habiba Soliman, as one of the recipients of the 'Best and Brightest' senior class scholarship. Habiba Soliman told the newspaper that she spoke little English when she first landed in the US as a sophomore in high school. In addition to improving her English, she enrolled in Thomas Maclaren School, a K–12 charter school, to fulfill her foreign language prerequisite of learning German. In addition, she established an Arabic club. Despite being born in Egypt, Habiba spent 14 years living in Kuwait. She stated that she could not pursue her desire to study in medical school in Kuwait since she was not Kuwaiti. 'Coming to the USA has fundamentally changed me,' Habiba said. 'I learned to adapt to new things even if it was hard. I learned to work under pressure and improve rapidly in a very short amount of time. Most importantly, I came to appreciate that family is the unchanging support.' Also Read: Why has Newark Mayor Ras Baraka sued interim US attorney Alina Habba? Here's what all we know Born in Egypt, Soliman arrived in the US on a tourist visa around the end of 2022. Soliman's visa expired in February 2023, and he stayed in the US after requesting asylum. He resided in Colorado Springs, around 100 miles south of Boulder, with his spouse and kids. Uber confirmed that Soliman was an Uber driver. On May 29, Habiba received her high school diploma with honors. Investigators found that her father drove to Boulder to attack the demonstration three days later. As he was unable to buy a gun, Soliman told investigators he used gasoline, glass bottles, and a backpack sprayer that landscapers frequently use to apply fertilizer or insecticide. During his journey from Colorado Springs, Soliman told detectives he made several stops to obtain bottles for the Molotov bombs, the 87-octane gas to fill them, and flowers to use as disguise so he could 'get as close as possible to the group.'
