Predator who had sex chats with 'Freya, 13' snared in sting

Yahoo19-07-2025
A pervert has dodged jail after having sex chat with who he believed was a 13-year-old girl. Sajid Khan discovered he had been duped when he was confronted by paedophile hunters in a sting at his dad's home on June 25, 2024.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard how the 40-year-old sent hundreds of messages to the decoy over both Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. His grooming was described as 'patient and calculated', repeatedly steering the conversation towards sexual topics through innuendo.
Prosecutor Anthony Longworth described the sickening exchange: 'Police went to Haywood Street where the defendant was being confronted by the paedophile hunter group STOP UK at his father's address. They revealed that Khan had believed he was talking to a 13-year-old girl called Freya Smith.

'Messages demonstrated that Khan knew her age. He asked to see videos of the girl. He told her he loved her cherry lips. He also told her it was a shame that she didn't have Snapchat, as people are generally more comfortable sending pictures on that platform.
'He asked the decoy if she shaved her pubic hair. He said he shaved his pubic hair and sent a picture of his pubic region.'
Khan, of Galloway Road, Bentilee, gave a 'no comment' interview when quizzed by police after his arrest. He later pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in sexual communications with a child.
Stuart Muldoon, mitigating, argued that Khan's grooming was the misguided result of frequent cannabis use. He said: 'He didn't ask to see any sexually explicit images, but he did ask to see more than the girl's profile picture.
'He is fully aware of the position he's put himself in. Despite trying to excuse his behaviour in his initial pre-sentence report, he now accepts there are no excuses for this type of behaviour.
'He has been clean from cannabis for nine months now. While he is not in employment at the moment, he spends much time volunteering to help in his local community. He has recently completed courses at Burslem College. He hopes to become a self-employed tradesman.'
Khan was slapped with a 10-month suspended sentence, along with 100 hours of unpaid labour. He was also handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Judge Richard McConaghy told him: 'Your grooming behaviour was slow and deliberate. You made use of innuendo and sexualised imagery, although you never explicitly asked for any sexual content. You kept talking about taking a bath, whether it was you or her. You asked her about school.
'I do, however, take the view that there is a real chance of rehabilitation in your case. In the interest of justice, I believe having you engage with the probation service is the best course of action at this time.'

He was handed a community order for 12 months, ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work and disqualified from driving.

Liverpool-Bournemouth match paused after Semenyo subjected to racist abuse

The opening match of the Premier League between Liverpool and Bournemouth briefly stopped on Friday after Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo reported being racially abused by a spectator inside Anfield. In the 28th minute with the score at 0-0, referee Anthony Taylor talked to Semenyo, who is Black, while Liverpool was preparing to take a corner. Taylor then ran over to the sideline and spoke to both coaches, Liverpool's Arne Slot and Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola. After also talking to the captains, play resumed about two minutes later. Semenyo's complaint was the reason for the stoppage, the Premier League confirmed to the Associated Press. Bournemouth players consoled Semenyo, who played the full game and scored both of his team's goals in a 4-2 loss. Iraola said the person who abused Semenyo was identified. 'It's a shame because a really great game of football, the first game of the season with everyone watching, and we have to be talking about this thing still today,' Iraola said. 'We should be past this stage but there's still people who don't behave correctly. It's a shame because every step you collectively do forward, these things lose a lot of power.' Bournemouth captain Adam Smith said he was 'in shock' and full of admiration for Semenyo, a 25-year-old Ghana international. 'I don't know how Ant's played on, to be honest, and come up with those goals,' Smith said. 'It's totally unacceptable and I just feel sorry for Ant. He's a little bit down, obviously.' Smith said he asked Taylor to remove the person who abused Semenyo from the stadium immediately. 'But he said we have to go through a process, and that the police will go and sort it,' Smith said. 'And to be fair, the Liverpool players were supportive toward Antoine and the rest of the team. I think it was handled in the right way.' An anti-discrimination message was read out to the crowd inside Anfield after the halftime whistle. The Premier League said it will investigate the incident and 'offer our full support to the player and both clubs.' 'Racism has no place in our game, or anywhere in society,' the competition said. 'We will continue to work with stakeholders and authorities to ensure our stadiums are an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.' The Football Association said it was 'very concerned about the allegation of discrimination from an area of the crowd." 'Incidents of this nature have no place in our game,' the FA added, 'and we will work closely with the match officials, the clubs and the relevant authorities to establish the facts and ensure the appropriate action is taken.' ___ AP soccer: Steve Douglas, The Associated Press
