Heat heading to Puerto Rico for preseason game vs. Magic. Here's Heat's full preseason schedule

Miami Herald5 days ago
The Miami Heat will take a trip to Puerto Rico before the start of the regular season.
During a press conference at Kaseya Center on Tuesday afternoon, the Heat announced it will play a preseason game against the Orlando Magic at Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan. The exhibition will be played on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. and will count as a Heat home preseason game.
It will mark the Heat's seventh exhibition game in Puerto Rico in franchise history. The Heat previously played exhibitions in Puerto Rico in 1993 (a win over the Denver Nuggets), two in 1994 (splitting a pair of matchups with the Atlanta Hawks), 2003 (a win over the Philadelphia 76ers), 2005 (a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies) and 2006 (a loss to the Detroit Pistons).
Among those in attendance for Tuesday's press conference at Kaseya Center to announce the news were former Heat player and current Heat scout and team ambassador Glen Rice, Heat Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer John Vidalin, Heat Spanish radio announcer Jose Paneda, former Magic player Nick Anderson and Magic Managing Director Ryan DeVos.
Including the contest in Puerto Rico, the Heat will play six exhibition games this year. Two of those games will come against the Magic.
The Heat's full six-game preseason schedule includes matchups against the Magic on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. in San Juan, the Milwaukee Bucks on Oct 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Miami, the San Antonio Spurs on Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Miami, the Magic on Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. in Orlando, the Hawks on Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. in Atlanta and the Grizzlies on Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. in Memphis.
The Heat's full 2025-26 regular-season schedule, along with the schedule for every other team in the league, will be announced on Thursday. But two of the 82 regular-season games won't be unveiled this week because they depend on how the group stage of the NBA's in-season tournament plays out.
With the NBA beginning a multi-day rollout of the 2025-26 schedule, the league unveiled the Christmas Day schedule on Tuesday. The Heat again will not be featured on the holiday, as it has played on Christmas Day just twice since 2015.
The NBA will announce each team's four group-play games for the in-season tournament on Wednesday.
The Heat, which has been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, is not expected to have many nationally televised games on its schedule for this upcoming season.
The Heat will hold its annual media day on Sept. 29 before opening training camp on Sept. 30 to kick off the 2025-26 season.

Sixers legend Wilt Chamberlain ranked No. 3 center in NBA history

Wilt Chamberlain is one of the legends in the history of the NBA. The only player to score 100 points in a game and with career averages of 30.1 points and 22.9 rebounds, Chamberlain is one of those players who one had to see to believe. Chamberlain spent 3.5 seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers and averaged 27.6 points and 23.9 rebounds while winning three MVPs and guiding the Sixers to the championship in 1967. The legendary big man was unbelievable and has his No. 13 jersey hanging from the rafters at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. HoopsHype ranked the top 20 centers in the history of the NBA and Chamberlain comes in ranked No. 3 on the list: The most dominant big man offensively in NBA history, though that partially had to do with the level of competition Wilt Chamberlain faced in his era. Still, when you dominate at the level Chamberlain did, who cares who he did it against? Chamberlain did come a little short in the team success department as he was usually better in the regular season than in the playoffs, something that many believe had to do with an unwillingness to get fouled late in close games due to his unreliable free throw. Chamberlain is one of the best players in Sixers history and will always have the respect of the NBA world. The only centers ranked ahead of him were fellow legends Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Knicks star point guard shares thoughts on Jordan Clarkson signing

The New York Knicks made a big addition to their second unit by signing former Sixth Man of The Year Jordan Clarkson to a one-year, $3.6 million deal earlier this offseason. Clarkson has been one of the league's best bench players over the last half-decade, leading the NBA in bench points since 2020. He spent the last six seasons with the Utah Jazz, where he averaged 17.5 points per game off the bench, and won the Sixth Man of The Year award in 2021. The Knicks are presumably pleased with bringing in Clarkson for next season, as is the team's superstar point guard Jalen Brunson, who on his podcast 'The Roommates Show,' told his reaction to the team bringing in Clarkson. 'I know him,' Brunson said. 'Talked to him for a little bit. Good dude. Surrounds himself with good people that I know. A great addition for us, for sure.' The Knicks were last in total bench points, and bench points per game by a wide margin last season, bringing in the league's top bench scorer will surely help resolve at least some of those issues. Additionally, signing Clarkson gives the Knicks another ball handling scorer to take some of the pressure off of Jalen Brunson, and allows the Knicks showcase their depth on a level that they haven't been able to in quite some time. Last season, Clarkson averaged 16.2 points per game while shooting 36 percent from three-point range in 37 games (28 off the bench).

Nets' Michael Porter Jr. takes jab at Nuggets over ‘courts'

The post Nets' Michael Porter Jr. takes jab at Nuggets over 'courts' appeared first on ClutchPoints. It seems like Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. is already enjoying his new surroundings following his trade from the Denver Nuggets. After spending his entire seven-year career with the Nuggets, who drafted him 14th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft, Porter Jr. looks forward to his new challenge with the Nets. In a role he expects will take his game to new heights in Brooklyn, and it's already off to a good start, according to MPJ. Porter Jr. appreciated the fact that his new practice facility has dual basketball courts, whereas the Nuggets do not, according to the seven-year veteran. 'I'm just glad y'all got two courts, man. Because over there [in Denver] we had the one court.' Porter Jr. has endured many setbacks due to injuries throughout his career, including a sprained left shoulder that hindered his performance in last year's playoffs. For some, a healthy Porter Jr. could have altered a nail-biting seven-game series against the champion Oklahoma City Thunder. However, Porter Jr.'s confident in his capabilities, and that being in a situation where he's considered one of the top options on offense will give him the opportunity to prove himself, whereas playing alongside three-time MVP All-Star Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, wasn't the case in Denver. Michael Porter Jr. reveals plan to break through after Nets trade Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. has a lot to prove after his trade from the Nuggets. Porter Jr., 27, reminded everyone he hasn't entered his prime yet and sees his trade to the Nets as an ideal opportunity to reach his full potential. Porter Jr. spoke on expanding his game next season, per Erik Slater. 'When you've got a good team like [the Nuggets], and you've got so many guys who are capable on the floor together, there's gonna be guys that sacrifice,' Porter Jr. said. 'That's the nature of when you're on a championship team, and that happens throughout the league. But I just think for me, you know, I averaged 21 [points] one year. Last year, I was around 18 as the third option. I just feel like I have more in my tank still. 'I don't feel like I've reached my peak, and I'm excited to grow my game, expand my game, explore my game, and see what I could do,' Porter Jr. concluded. Porter Jr. is looking forward to his fresh start with the Nets next season.
