Battle between Wagatha rivals renewed as Rebekah Vardy lands Netflix show – as Coleen Rooney eyes similar Disney+ deal

THE battle of the Wagatha rivals is set to kick off again after Rebekah Vardy netted a major starring role in a Netflix documentary.
The streaming giant is in talks with her husband Jamie about a show chronicling his footballing life.

But I can reveal a large part of it will also feature Rebekah as well as their luxurious homelife.
And if it sparks an interest among viewers it may lead to a spin-off At Home With...series.
The move comes after it emerged that her arch rival, Coleen Rooney was set to sign a similar deal for her show with Disney+.
It has been known for months that Netflix had a new documentary about Jamie's incredible journey from non-league footballer to Premier League champion in the works.
But it was thought to be almost entirely football-focused, and barely feature Rebekah or any kind of domestic insights.
A TV insider said: "Netflix have taken such an interest in the Vardys because of their natural love of all things controversial.
"Plus, they saw how the David Beckham documentary was such a hit, not just because it touched on football but because of the scenes of domestic life that came with it.
"Though this will be on a different level to the Beckham documentary, they want to tap into some of that with the Vardy show, and it's undoubtedly a real coup for her.
"Getting so much 'airtime' on Netflix gives her a real platform - and scope to branch out."

The documentary, set to air later this year, would go some way to helping Rebekah with her legal costs following the high-profile Wagatha Christie libel trial against Coleen in 2022.
But it's unlikely to diminish the rivalry between them...

Apple TV+ abruptly hikes prices
Apple TV has raised its prices by 33 percent — joining a host of other streamings hiking subscription costs. New US subscribers paying $12.99 per month starting August 21. That's up $3 from the current $9.99 rate and marks the first increase since October 2023. Existing subscribers will see the higher price applied within 30 days of their next renewal date. Last month, Peacock announced increases of up to 40 percent , highlighting a broader industry trend as streaming platforms seek profitability after years of heavy investment in premium content. Netflix has raised prices this year too, while Disney, HBO Max and Paramount+ are tipped to hike prices before the end of the year after increases last summer. Apple justified the increase by pointing to the expansion of its ad-free library. 'Since its launch, Apple TV+ has expanded its deep library of hundreds of Apple Originals, with thousands of hours of premium programming across genres and brand-new releases weekly — all ad-free,' the company said in a statement. 'Subscribers can explore a rich offering of thrilling dramas, epic sci-fi, feel-good comedies, and live sports.' Customers questioned the price rise. 'I signed up when it was $4.99. I wasn't happy after it drifted up to $9.99. This is a step to far. I am cancelling,' Alex Palmer, 33, from Los Angeles, told Daily Mail. The price hike applies in the US and select international markets, though Apple has not specified which foreign countries will be affected. The company has not indicated whether the change will affect Apple One, its bundled subscription service. Upcoming premieres include season four of The Morning Show on September 17, season five of Slow Horses on September 24, Vince Gilligan's Pluribus on November 7, and films like Highest Two Lowest on September 5 and The Lost Bus on October 3. Apple TV+ is also home to Emmy-nominated shows like Severance and Seth Rogen's The Studio, as well as kids programming, Peanuts specials, and live sports, including Major League Baseball's Friday Night Baseball and Major League Soccer matches. The service has been losing more than $1 billion annually, as spending on premium content has exceeded revenue, according to a March 2025 report by The Information. Apple has not broken out financial results for the service and has not publicly commented on the losses. The streaming service originally launched in November 2019 at $4.99 a month and has gradually increased pricing as it expanded its content library. Over the past 18 months, all the major streamers have increased prices. In January, Netflix raised prices for its ad tier subscription to $7.99. Paramount Plus did the same last June . Max, Hulu, and Disney+ all hiked their entry level prices to $9.99, while Prime Video costs $8.99 a month.

A real friendship amongst the cast was also apparent, as revealed by both Ben and Helen during The Thursday Murder Club: An Evening with Richard Osman at The British Library on Tuesday, August 19. The performers revealed that an incredible 58 years had passed since they last collaborated in theatre, making their reunion an emotional occasion. Sir Ben shared: "I was very touched when Helen and I met again for the read-through because Helen burst into tears. "I was very touched. A lovely reunion." Dame Helen added: "Our work takes us off constantly and Ben and I started out in the theatre together at the same age, with the same ambition of being serious classical actors. "Then Ben went off and had the amazing career he has had and I went off and did my thing. And now we are back together again."
