
Madinet Masr Announces the Development of 'Buyut Al-Khalifa' Project to Revive Urban Heritage in Historic Cairo
Madinet Masr (EGX code: MASR.CA), one of Egypt's leading urban community developers, has announced the launch of the 'Buyut Al-Khalifa' project to revitalize the urban fabric of Al-Rukbiyya Street in the heart of Historic Cairo. and to preserve endangered urban sites. The project is carried out in collaboration with the Built Environment Collective, in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Antiquities. This initiative aligns with Madinet Masr's CSR strategy, which focuses on the preservation and restoration of archaeological sites and historical buildings.
Located in Historic Cairo – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the 'Buyut Al-Khalifa' project aims to restore heritage buildings and rehabilitate the urban fabric while conserving the area's cultural identity and improving residents' quality of life. Spanning 3,000 square meters on Al-Rukbiyya Street, the project involves the restoration of two historic buildings, the refurbishment of 19 facades of modern buildings, and the development of 1,200 square meters of public spaces through paving, greenery, and lighting. The project also features the creation of two urban farms irrigated with groundwater harvested from the dewatering projects of listed monuments, enhancing and promoting heritage-based crafts, in addition to providing educational and professional opportunities. This reflects Madinet Masr's commitment to sustainable development, heritage conservation, and positioning Cairo as a global tourist destination.
Commenting on the project, Eng. Abdallah Sallam, President and CEO of Madinet Masr, said: 'Community engagement is a cornerstone of our identity and vision. Buyut Al-Khalifa project is part of Built Environment Collective 'Athar Lina' (Heritage is Ours"الأثر لنا" ) initiative, launched in the Al-Khalifa area in 2012, which takes a participatory approach combining heritage conservation with socio-economic empowerment through traditional crafts and sustainable urban development. It also aligns with two national tourism development initiatives: the Citadel Square development, located 500 meters east of the site, and the 'Descendants of the Prophet مسار أحفاد النبي ' path, which passes through the area. Implementation of 'Buyut Al-Khalifa' project is set to begin implementation in May 2025 over three years.
The project focuses on using eco-friendly materials and sustainable construction techniques, while improving quality of life and providing employment opportunities forming a comprehensive model for heritage conservation and local community development.

Egypt FM, Somalia's National Security Adviser review bilateral ties
CAIRO – 11 June 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty lauded on Wednesday the momentum realized in Egyptian-Somali relations. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's keenness on promoting amicable ties with Somalia, underlining the importance of bolstering cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, and security domains. He reiterated Egypt's keenness to contribute to the African Union mission to support stability in Somalia as soon as possible in light of Egypt's longstanding commitment to supporting the security and stability of Somalia, which is considered an integral part of the stability of the entire region.

Dollar Declines against Egypt Pound to 49.40
Taarek Refaat The US dollar exchange rate witnessed a significant decline against the Egyptian pound on Wednesday, in a number of banks. Most major banks recorded selling prices ranging between EGP 49.40 and EGP 49.68, reflecting the continued slight decline in the dollar's value in the banking market. The Suez Canal Bank recorded the lowest buying price for the dollar at EGP 49.40, while the National Bank of Kuwait recorded the highest selling price at EGP 49.68. Egypt's Exports to BRICS Up 31.5% to $905 Million
Taarek Refaat The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) released a report on Wednesday "Egypt and BRICS countries", reviewing Egypt's exports to the group. The report indicated that The Egyptian exports to the bloc increased from $688 million to $905 million, a 31.5% increase, between January and December 2024, since Egypt joined the bloc. Egyptian imports from BRICS countries also increased from $2,410 million to $3,376 million, a 40.1% increase, between January and December. The most important commodity groups exported by Egypt are: inorganic and miscellaneous chemical products and fertilizers; fuels and mineral oils; fruits, vegetables. The most important commodity groups imported by Egypt are: grains, fuels, mineral oils, and their distillation products, plastics and their products, electrical machinery and appliances.
