Oklahoma Sooners earn commitment from 2026 DL Brian Harris
The Oklahoma Sooners picked up a commitment on Friday from one of the more underrated prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, Brian Harris. Harris out of Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Fla. chose the Sooners over offers from Michigan, South Carolina, Alabama, Ole Miss, Colorado, Auburn, West Virginia, Mississippi State, N.C. State, Maryland, Louisville, Duke and Penn State.
Harris projects as and interior defensive lineman at the collegiate level, where his size, strength, and athleticism will allow him to be a force for the Oklahoma Sooners' defense. He has experience playing on the edge and shows the burst, footwork, and hands to be able to win against offensive tackles. As an interior defensive lineman, his length and athleticism will give guards and centers fits.
Harris is listed at 6 feet, 4 inches and weighs 290 pounds. Though currently listed as a three-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Harris is considered a four-star prospect by Rivals and the No. 20 defensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class.
He marks the third defensive pledge for Brent Venables in the last couple of weeks, following safety Niko Jandreau out of Arizona and linebacker Jakore Smith out of Arkansas. Oklahoma is now up to seven pledges in the 2026 cycle and now ranks No. 38 in the nation, just behind Michigan in the 247Sports team rankings.
In 2026, Harris will join a defensive tackle room that includes Jayden Jackson, David Stone, Markus Strong, Trent Wilson, and Ace Hodges.
Brian Harris Recruiting Profile
Scouting Report
As a player, Harris has really good size for the defensive line. What jumps off the screen the most is his quickness and the force with which he plays. He's a violent player and blends a physical playing style with really good athleticism for a guy nearly 300 pounds. For Mandarin High, he lined up as a defensive end in three-man fronts a lot, showing off the ability to get around the corner to attack quarterbacks. He does a great job in backside pursuit, displaying a strong motor to get down the line and chase the running back down from behind. He shows a good understanding of playing with angles and using his arm length to get around offensive linemen. With his size, strength, and athleticism, he has the ability to play defensive tackle in four-man fronts as well as defensive end in three-man fronts.

USA TODAY Sports pairs Ike Irish with National League Central squad in latest mock draft
USA TODAY Sports pairs Ike Irish with National League Central squad in latest mock draft Could Ike Irish's first-round dreams become a reality this summer? Ike Irish has had a phenomenal college career at Auburn. However, Tiger fans more than likely watched his final game in orange and blue last weekend as Auburn fell to Coastal Carolina in the Auburn Super Regional at Plainsman Park. Several outlets project the Tigers' slugger to be taken in the first round of the MLB First Year Player Draft next month, including USA TODAY Sports. In the latest mock draft from Gabe Lacques of USA TODAY Sports, the Milwaukee Brewers are projected to take Irish with the No. 20 overall pick. Lacques feels that Irish will be a good fit in the organization if the Brewers plan to move Irish to catcher full time. Another club that tends to lean college bat, the Brewers get a nice piece in Irish, whose .364, 19-homer platform season looks even better if he sticks at catcher professionally. But Irish caught just 12 games for the Tigers this year, spending 45 games in the outfield. Irish was known to play multiple positions for the Tigers during his career. A primary catcher, Irish has also played first base, left field, right field, and designated hitter. In 2025, he made 40 starts in right field, 10 starts at catcher, and four starts in left field. Irish was moved primarily to create a place in the lineup for Chase Fralick, who hit .335 this season. However, Irish is still considered a quality catcher, and his willingness to move around the field to ensure the best players are on the field and in the batting lineup should be noted by Major League Baseball General Managers. Irish has hit .350 with 39 home runs and 167 RBI over three seasons at Auburn, and hit career-high milestones in home runs (19), RBI (59), and batting average (.364) during his junior season in 2025. Four-star DB Devin Jackson 'feels way better about Miami' after visit
Miami, despite being in-state for Devin Jackson, is a new program among his long list of contenders. The Hurricanes didn't offer until this spring, not long after the arrival of Will Harris from the rival Florida Gators -- where he had Jackson on board as a commitment last year. Advertisement A four-star out of Orlando (Fla.) The First Academy, the rising-senior took an official visit to Coral Gables over the weekend and admits Mario Cristobal's program is working its way up his list. "I got to see the character of the coaches and the players," Jackson said. "All that matters coming into a program and I feel like all of that checked a green box for me. I feel way better about Miami. "It's a great school with a great culture." In experiencing said culture, another former UF commitment under Harris was also on his official visit in Jaelen Waters. The Tampa-area standout has been committed to the Hurricanes since March. Advertisement Time with the duo creates more familiarity with The U. "Me and Waters knew each other since we were at Florida together," Jackson said. "He knows how great of a coach he (Harris) is. It's still the same love with Harris. He says I'm still a major priority to him and Coach Cristobal. It's just the relationship we've built." "Miami is close to home and the culture and everything at Miami is just great," Jackson said. A verbal commitment will come this summer, between late June and mid August as the top-20 safety projection gets into evaluation mode when the trips are each completed. "I'm taking my time with it," he said. "Not rushing anything. Either August or if I know where I'm going after officials I'll commit in July. "I have to see after my official visits where it weighs out." Marcus Benjamin contributed to this report.
