SEATTLE (AP) — New York Yankees third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle fracture ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Seattle Mariners.

In the ninth inning of New York's 11-5 victory over Seattle on Monday night, Cabrera fractured his left ankle on an awkward slide when he reached back for the plate and scored the Yankees' final run on Aaron Judge's sacrifice fly.
Cabrera is in his fourth MLB season and has become a regular in the Yankees' lineup. He is hitting .243 this season with one home run and 11 RBIs.
'He cares for everybody in this room. He loves being a Yankee,' Judge said after Monday's game. 'He wears his jersey with pride. This is a tough one, especially a guy that's grinded his whole life and finally got an opportunity to be our everyday guy and been excelling at it.'

Wimbledon announces record $73M prize fund and $4M for singles champions
LONDON (AP) — Wimbledon's prize money has risen to a record 53.5 million pounds (about $73 million) and the singles champions will each earn three million pounds ($4 million), All England Club officials announced on Thursday. The total amount is 3.5 million pounds ($6.8 million) more than last year, an increase of 7% — and exactly twice the pot handed out to competitors at the grass-court Grand Slam 10 years ago. 'We're immensely proud of the fact that if you look back 10 years, you can see the increase over that period and 7% this year,' All England chair Deborah Jevans said. 'And we have listened to the players, we have engaged with the players.' The 2025 winners' checks represent an 11.1% jump on last year's prizes for the men's and women's singles champions and comes amid growing player demands for a bigger share of grand slam profits. Players who lose in the first round of singles will get 66,000 pounds, up 10% year on year. 'The focus on just the prize money at four events, the Grand Slams, does not get to the heart of what the challenge is for tennis,' Jevans added. 'The challenge with tennis is the fact that the players don't have an offseason which they want, they have increasing injuries that they're speaking about, and we've always said that we as Wimbledon are willing to engage and talk with the tours to try and find solutions, and that door remains open.' Wimbledon starts on June 30 and runs until July 13. For the first time in the oldest Grand Slam, line judges will be replaced with electronic line-calling. ___ AP tennis:

Broncos QB Bo Nix throws first pitch at Rockies game
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix continues to stay involved in the Colorado sports picture, even with the 2025 season quickly coming into view. This time, Nix threw out the first pitch at the Colorado Rockies-New York Yankees showdown at Coors Field on Friday night. Nix has found himself playing in the most important games in the NFL calendar, in December and January. The Rockies? Not so much; as they are on track to only win 26 games in a 161-game season. Nix's appearance may be one of the brightest spots in the Rockies' season this year. Advertisement Nix has quickly become a fixture at premier Colorado sporting events, appearing several times at Denver's Ball Arena in support of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche as they each made a quick foray into the playoffs. Friday's Rockies appearance shows that Nix has endeared himself to Colorado sports fans -- much like one of his predecessors. Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, also a regular attendee of the biggest Colorado sporting events, overlapped with Nix at a Nuggets game this spring. Manning threw out the first pitch at the 2021 MLB All-Star Game at Coors Field to fellow Hall of Famer (of the Cooperstown crowd) and Tennessee football teammate, Todd Helton. It wasn't hard for Nix to beat Manning's opening pitch, which was practically unhittable. Still the GOAT at quarterback. Advertisement Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans. Germany picks experienced squad for Euro 2025 but leaves out two critics
RUST, Germany (AP) — Germany has retained 11 players who reached the 2022 Women's European Championship final for Euro 2025. There's no place for two prominent critics of coach Christian Wück. The 23-player squad announced on Thursday is captained by Bayern Munich's Giulia Gwinn, one of the returning players from the team which lost to England in the 2022 final . North Carolina Courage defender Felicitas Rauch and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Nicole Anyomi were in the 2022 squad but aren't this time. Both have previously criticized Wück for what they called a lack of communication around his decision not to pick them for earlier squads. Rauch was among 12 players included in a reserve list on Thursday. The 20-year-old forward Cora Zicai is considered one of Germany's brightest young players after scoring two goals in her three national team games. Germany starts its Euro 2025 campaign in Switzerland on July 4 with a group game against Poland followed by Denmark on July 8 and Sweden on July 12. Since the last Euros, Germany suffered its worst ever World Cup result in 2023 with elimination in the group stage, but rebounded to win the bronze medal at last year's Paris Olympics. ___ AP soccer:
