It was more than a return to a former team; it was somewhat of a restart.
Once back in Vegas, Smith quickly started feeling like his old self. He reconnected with his friends and teammates and joined a system that would pull the best of his game. And it showed. With the renewed confidence, his game shot up, and he helped Vegas gear up for the second round of the playoffs before losing to the Edmonton Oilers.
Speaking after the season, Smith admitted how much the switch had put in perspective his morale and gameplay, citing the team-oriented nature of Vegas along with all those familiar faces as major reasons for regaining his rhythm.
The season did not crown itself with an additional Stanley Cup; instead, there was Smith — reinstated in spirit, far less like the one diving into the season.

London [UK] June 10 (ANI): The stage is set at Lord's for what promises to be a gripping ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final as reigning champions Australia prepare to defend their title against a determined South African side eager to make history. This will be Australia's second consecutive appearance in a WTC final, having won the 2023 edition against India, while for South Africa, it marks their first-ever shot at Test cricket's ultimate prize. The match brings together two sides with outstanding records at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground, often referred to as the 'Home of Cricket.' Australia have played 23 Tests at the venue, winning 12, losing just two, and drawing nine. South Africa, since their return to international cricket in 1991, have won five of their seven Tests at Lord's, drawn one, and lost only once, back in 2017. Expressing his disappointment, Nehal said, "Some days it does not click and I think this was the day when it did not happen." Wadhera spoke about his game and said, "But I don't regret that because I was taking the game deep. It was okay according to the situation because wickets were falling." He admitted his mistake and said, "But I think I could have played a little faster, which I have learned and analyzed." Nehal Wadhera expressed his commitment for the future and said, "I will do this in the future and it will help me and the team." This shows that he is committed to learning from his mistakes and performing better in the next season.
