Hugh Jackman's ex-wife claims betrayal as their divorce is finalised
The Hollywood star and his ex-wife Deborra were married for almost 30 years.
Hugh Jackman 's ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness has spoken out for the first time since filing for divorce from the actor. The former couple share two children and were married for close to 30 years.
'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,' the 69-year-old Australian actress said in a statement.
Furness and the Deadpool & Wolverine star, 56, wed in 1996 before announcing their amicable separation in 2023 after 27 years of marriage.
She called their split 'a profound wound that cuts deep.'
'However I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us,' Furness said. 'This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage.'
According to the producer and philanthropist, the process has helped her as she 'gained much knowledge and wisdom.'
She said: 'Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose. It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom,' she told the outlet.
Furness shared the 'one thing' she's learned is 'that none of this is personal.'
'We are all on our individual journeys and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random. We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognize and heal the broken parts of ourselves...I remain grateful,' she added.
In early January, Jackman was photographed holding hands with his former Music Man co-star Sutton Foster during a dinner night out in Santa Monica, Calif.
Foster, 50, went on to file for divorce in October 2024 from husband Ted Griffin following 10 years of marriage.
At the 2024 Drama Desk Awards in June, Foster told PEOPLE that Jackman "one of the greatest guys ever, an incredible costar."
The pair later made a joint appearance on Late Night With Seth Myers to promote Music Man in May 2022.
The actress said: "The show is so joyful, and I'm having the time of my life playing opposite this guy."
Furness and Jackman announced they were separating in September 2023.
They shared a statement that revealed: 'We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."
The former couple share two children, a son Oscar and a daughter Ava.
Their divorce filings show the terms are uncontested and simplyneed a sign-off from a judge.

Billy Joel admits he attempted suicide twice and ended up in a coma after falling in love with bandmate's wife
BILLY Joel has admitted that he attempted suicide twice and was left in a coma after having an illicit affair with his close friend's wife. Billy, 76, opened up about his mental health struggles in the upcoming documentary Billy Joel: And So It Goes. 3 3 The Uptown Girl singer had previously discussed attempting to take his own life in his early 20s, but has just now revealed what led to the dark point. In the doc, which was partially screened at Tribeca Festival in New York City on Wednesday, Joel spoke about busting up his best friend's marriage with Elizabeth Weber. The singer didn't make it to the screening as he continues to battle a debilitating health condition. The affair brewed after Billy moved in with Elizabeth, her husband Jon Small, and their child, while the two close friends played in their band Attila. Elizabeth, who went on to marry Joel from 1973 to 1982, looked back at their burgeoning relationship in the documentary for the first time in years. "Bill and I spent a lot of time together," she said, and described their extramarital affair as a "slow build." When Jon finally confronted the two over their relationship, Billy admitted, "I am in love with your wife," Elizabeth said. "I felt very, very guilty about it. They had a child. I felt like a homewrecker," Billy said in the documentary, according to People. "I was just in love with a woman and I got punched in the nose which I deserved. "Jon was very upset. I was very upset." Billy Joel's daughter Alexa breaks silence after his brain disorder diagnosis Attila broke up for good after Billy's shocking admission, and Elizabeth separated herself to get some space. Meanwhile, the Piano Man singer spiraled into a pit of depression over what he had done. "I had no place to live. I was sleeping in laundromats and I was depressed I think to the point of almost being psychotic," Billy said. The singer described being in "a lot of pain" as he suffered from suicidal ideation. He took a handful of pills and fell into a coma for days. Later on, the singer tried to end his life again by drinking furniture polish, and this time Jon rushed him to the hospital. "Even though our friendship was blowing up, Jon saved my life," Billy said. Jon said that they never discussed the affair at the time, but that he managed to forgive his friend anyway. "He never really said anything to me," Jon said. "The only practical answer I can give as to why Billy took it so hard was because he loved me that much and that it killed him to hurt me that much." Elizabeth went on to be Billy's first wife and manager, but they split up by 1982. In 1985, Billy tied the knot with model Christie Brinkley, and they welcomed daughter Alexa Ray Joel later that year. On August 26, 1994, Billy and Christie divorced. Billy found his third wife, chef Katie Lee, in 2004, and they were married for five years. Now, he's married to former Morgan Stanley executive Alexis Roderick, and they've been together since 2015. Billy was forced to cancel all of his upcoming tour dates after he was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, which affects his hearing, vision, and balance. What is normal pressure hydrocephalus? NORMAL pressure hydrocephalus occurs when spinal fluid builds up in the skull and starts pressing on the brain. The condition can affect brain function, which can lead to a loss of memory, concentration, and motor skills. Medical experts say that NPH often presents like degenerative brain diseases like Alzheimer's and is usually noticed by loved ones. And around 30 percent of those suffering from the condition do also have one of those diseases, according to Cleveland Clinic. However, those who only have NPH can get relief if they have a major surgery. The surgery involves getting a shunt, which is a device that can drain fluid from the skull affecting the brain.

Superjesus singer Sarah McLeod says the Australian music industry is still very much a 'blokes game'
Rocker Sarah McLeod has revealed that, when it comes to sexism in the Australian music industry, little has changed in decades. As frontwoman for The Superjesus, McLeod has enjoyed a 30 year career that has spawned four studio albums and three ARIA Awards. Speaking to he Daily Telegraph, McLeod, 52, who is also chair of advocacy group Women In Music, said that there had been little done to redress gender imbalances within the industry. 'Things have changed marginally but since I took on this role and I'm looking at the statistics, I see total imbalance everywhere,' she said. She said that statistics have shown that when it comes to festivals, female representation clocks in at around 'five percent or ten percent.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The Superjesus were certainly no strangers to the Aussie festival circuit, being regular fixtures on the liked of Livid, Homebake, and the Big Day Out. She admitted that while once thinking the band missed out on festival slots due to lack of talent, she has since changed her tune. 'I used to think we didn't get chosen for festivals, or another female-fronted band didn't get picked, because we weren't good enough,' she told the publication. 'But over the years I've realised that it is still very much a blokes' game, and we play it the best we can.' It was a similar sentiment that McLeod expressed when talking to The Music in 2023. 'It still is very much a male-dominated world, and I don't think it's changed as much as it should have, but at least we're aware of it now,' she said. 'The discussions are open, but it's still very much a male-dominated world.' She added that in the early days of The Superjesus she felt like just one of the guys, until choosing to embrace her femininity on stage. 'I used to think we didn't get chosen for festivals, or another female-fronted band didn't get picked, because we weren't good enough, But over the years, I've realised that it is still very much a blokes' game, and we play it the best we can,' she added. Pictured: The Superjesus in 2001 'I was very much a scrappy little tomboy for the first ten years of my career. And I just became one of the fellas, and I was cool with that, she said. 'But it wasn't until a good decade in, where I was like, "Wait a minute, I'm going to stretch my femininity here and embrace my power. 'I don't need to be one of you guys. I've got something else I could be, something better".' Sarah caused a stir, back in 2014, after she hit out at a touring festival, from which The Superjesus were dropped, for being too male-centric. In a post to Facebook at the time, McLeod claimed that The Superjesus and the Baby Animals, fronted by Suze DeMarchi had been culled from a Day On The Green tour to make way for iconic UK rocker Billy Idol. 'Guys, I'm sorry to say this and we do not know why this has happened but The Superjesus and the Baby Animals have been booted off A Day On The Green in favour of adding Billy Idol,' she wrote. 'So it's now Billy, Cheap Trick, The Angels and The Choirboys. They will refund your tickets if you are no longer interested in attending this sausage fest.' 'It still is very much a male-dominated world, and I don't think it's changed as much as it should have, but at least we're aware of it now,' she said. 'The discussions are open, but it's still very much a male-dominated world' In a response to The Music, A Day On The Green promoter Michael Newton said gender did not play a role in the decision. 'I did not even think about it being a gender issue. It's bullshit, to be honest,' he said. The Superjesus are currently riding high off the back of the release of their fourth studio album in March. The self-titled album debuted in the top ten of the ARIA Album chart upon release marking their first top ten berth since 2000's Jet Age. The single, Something Good, given the remix treatment by Paul Mac, is also currently sitting at number 15 on the ARIA Club Tracks chart. Hot on the heels of their latest success, The Superjesus are now embarking on a national tour.

Miley Cyrus shades ex-husband Liam Hemsworth with snide move
The pop singer threw some subtle shade at her ex-husband and Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, while signing her brand new album for fans at a meet and greet event Miley Cyrus married her long-time partner, Liam Hemsworth, in a secret ceremony back in 2018 after meeting on a movie set almost 10 years prior, but their marriage quickly came to an end within a year. Their breakup helped to inspire Miley's biggest hit yet, with the Grammy-winning song Flowers, but the references don't stop there, as she makes a cheeky comment while promoting her new album. After tying the knot in December of 2018, Hemsworth made a public statement on his Instagram, writing: "Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated, and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward." That same month, the Aussie actor filed for divorce, and by February 2020, the couple were officially, and legally, single. Despite their long split, Miley recently threw some subtle shade at her ex during an interaction with a dedicated fan at an album signing. The fan shared the same name as her ex-husband (Liam), and when signing their 'Something Beautiful' album, she made an illusive comment. displayed their autographed album, clearly addressed to 'The best Liam,' along with the pop star's signature. Her tongue-in-cheek remark made the fan's day, and they captioned the photo: "Me when I'm 'The Best Liam.'" Since going their separate ways, Miley has moved on with fellow musician and drummer Maxx Morando, with whom she has been loved up since 2021 and even features as a collaborator on her latest album. While Hemsworth has been in a relationship since 2019 with model Gabriella Brooks. Five years on from their short-lived marriage, not only has Miley had huge success in her singing career, but similarly, in her personal life. In a recent interview with Zane Lowe, she opened up about her journey to sobriety and the impact it's had on her life and relationships. Cyrus explained: "I've learned this about myself over the years: sobriety is, like, that's like my God." Adding that she "needs it" and how it has changed her "entire life." While the pop star hasn't opened up much about their relationship outside of her music, she recently reflected on it when remembering the house fire that destroyed their shared home in 2018. At a preview performance of her latest record in New York, Cyrus drew close connections between losing their home and the breakdown of their relationship. "I guess for me, when my house burned down, a lot of my relationships also burned down, and that again just led me to such magic and to have so much gratitude," the singer shared. She went on to explain: "Losing everything and being able to rebuild, and to be able to be purposeful and choose every piece that I'm going to collect, or also just about the people in my life. "I think what I would have told my younger self is to appreciate those darker times because, like I said, they are only leading you into the light." That light could just be Something Beautiful, her new visual album, which first released on May 30 and follows in the footsteps of Endless Summer Vacation, packed full with Hemsworth references.
