The 22-year-old driver of the Proton Wira suffered a broken leg and received initial treatment from the Fire and Rescue Department before being taken to Tenom Hospital by ambulance.
Advertisement The 18-year-old Toyota driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by members of the public before the arrival of rescue personnel. Thailand's tourism and sports ministry said the Malaysians' medical expenses will be reimbursed up to a maximum of 500,000 baht, Bernama reported. The ministry's permanent secretary, Natreeya Taweewong, said the condition of the two victims – Gan Xiao Zhen, 27, and Ong Yik Leong, 26 – had improved significantly, with Gan now able to communicate through writing. Natreeya said that while the duo's families want to transfer them back to Malaysia for further treatment, doctors have not recommended travel at this time. She said her ministry is working with other agencies to ensure that Gan and Ong receive the best possible medical care, logistical support, and psychological assistance. 4 Malaysians among 79 arrested in nation-wide drug bust in Singapore

SINGAPORE: Four Malaysians were among 79 suspected drug offenders arrested in an island-wide anti-drug operation in Singapore from Aug 4 to 8. Drugs estimated to be worth more than S$470,000 (RM1.55 million) were seized. Advertisement The Central Narcotics Bureau said 3,457gm of heroin, 909gm of methamphetamine, 3gm of cannabis, five ecstasy tablets, five Erimin-5 tablets and one bottle of GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) were seized during the operation. CNB said a 25-year-old Malaysian man was first arrested at the Woodlands checkpoint on Aug 5 for attempting to smuggle drugs into Singapore in a Malaysian-registered car. Officers from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority found several biscuit packages suspected to contain controlled drugs on the rear passenger seat. 'CNB officers were immediately alerted and conducted further checks. The biscuit packages were later found to contain about 2,033gm of heroin and 731gm of methamphetamine,' CNB said in a statement today. Advertisement On Aug 6, CNB officers arrested a 39-year-old Malaysian man and a 43-year-old Malaysian woman, together with a 53-year-old Singaporean man, for suspected drug offences following raids in Jurong West and Henderson Road. The Malaysian man was found with 60gm of methamphetamine and a keycard to a hotel room in Geylang. 'CNB officers swiftly raided the hotel room and found 1,421gm of heroin, 62gm of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia,' CNB said. It said that after follow-up investigations, a 28-year-old Malaysian man was arrested in Tampines later in the day in a second operation. MP's former personal assistant arrested for uploading video without authorisation

Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail said the man, 43, was arrested at 11.30 am on Friday in Pasir Mas, Kelantan after the MP discovered the video post on a Facebook account named 'Mohd Syahrizal' on July 30. Advertisement 'The post resulted in negative comments by other Facebook users that stressed the individual and affected their reputation and psychological state, causing the MP to feel threatened and afraid should anything happen to them due to the Facebook account holder's actions. 'A Samsung and a Vivo mobile phone belonging to the suspect were seized to facilitate investigations,' he said in a statement today, adding that the suspect has been remanded for four days from Aug 9 till tomorrow.
