Giannis Antetokounmpo, Raptors have ‘mutual interest' as Bucks exit rumors ramp up

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been the center of trade talks since the Bucks' season went down in flames in the first round of the playoffs, which included Damian Lillard tearing his Achilles.
The Toronto Star's Doug Smith reports that Antetokounmpo and the Raptors have 'mutual interest' and could be a good match in a potential trade.

Smith did qualify the report by adding that the odds are 'long' that the Raptors will outbid the bevy of teams looking to acquire a star player of this quality.
Milwaukee, which doesn't control its first-round draft pick until 2031, would need a combination of draft capital and young players to complete any deal for its prized perennial MVP candidate.
Antetokounmpo has not officially asked for a trade, but The Post's Brian Lewis reported that he is exploring his options and could opt to force his way out of Milwaukee. The Nets are also a potential landing spot.
The Nets would have a tougher time trading for Antetokounmpo than most, despite having more draft picks than just about any team in the NBA.

Should Antetokounmpo request a trade, a list of teams would likely be sent to the Bucks of who he would like to go to, potentially giving the Raptors or Nets a chance to acquire him even if they aren't a perfect fit.
Antetokounmpo, 30, is a two-time MVP and, in 2020, helped the Bucks win their first championship since 1971.
Toronto would likely trade most of its draft capital to acquire Antetokounmpo and could look to trade young players RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley.
The Golden State Warriors are also widely expected to be in the mix should he leave the Bucks.

The Enhanced Games says it is an 'alternative' to the Olympics and will allow athletes to use performance-enhancing drugs. Participants will not be tested and will be under no obligation to declare which substances they have taken in order to compete. On Tuesday, World Aquatics released a statement introducing the new bylaw, which will be in effect immediately. 'Under the new Bylaw, individuals who support, endorse, or participate in sporting events that embrace the use of scientific advancements or other practices that may include prohibited substances and/or prohibited methods will not be eligible to hold positions with World Aquatics or to participate in any World Aquatics competitions, events, or other activities,' the federation said in a statement. 'This ineligibility would apply to roles such as athlete, coach, team official, administrator, medical support staff, or government representative.' 'Those who enable doped sport are not welcome at World Aquatics or our events,' said World Aquatics President Husain Al Musallam. Crown Point council approves three athletic-related businesses
It was a slam dunk for three athletic-related new business requests that came before the Crown Point City Council on Monday. The city council unanimously approved special use allowances for the following: a cheerleading facility at 1055 Troutwine Road; a soccer training facility at 1025 Troutwine Road; and a fitness facility at 1849 E. Summit St. The city council also unanimously approved a special use to allow townhomes to be built at 1525 W. 96th Ave. James Hus, from DVG Engineering, said plans are to build single, six-unit townhomes on a parcel of land located at West 96th Avenue and Merrillville Road. Hus said he didn't know the exact price range of the townhomes but estimated they would be 'north of $250,000.' Hus said he realizes this is the first of two steps since he will need to come back for city officials' approval to change zoning of the property from B-2 to R-3. Once that is completed then construction plans can go forward, Hus said. Russell Pozen, from DVG Engineering, relayed plans for an 18,000-square-foot cheerleading facility to be built at 1055 Troutwine Road. Pozen said the indoor-only business would be open during standard business hours. City Councilwoman Laura Sauerman, R-4th, questioned what standard business hours meant since she envisioned it as more of a '9 to 5' type of business. Pozen said typically the hours for the facility would be in the evening, from 5 to 9 p.m. 'That makes more sense,' Sauerman said. Pozen introduced the owner of the proposed 12,500-square-foot new soccer facility to be located at 1025 Troutwine Road. Owner Andy Bridgman said his facility would specialize in educating young soccer players. Bridgman said he will work with the Crown Point Youth Soccer organization. 'We want to help their teams grow,' Bridgman said. Business hours will be primarily from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the weekdays with some personal training and games on Sundays. Ellen Sistovaris said she plans to open a pilates business at 1849 E. Summit St. that will be named after both of her Greek grandmothers. 'I'm so excited to open this studio,' she said. The new business, which will feature appointment-only yoga and pilates classes, will be called Leni's Pilates. Classes will be held in the morning and early evening and will entail about 10 participants taking yoga and 10 taking pilates.

Report: Nets may trade Cam Johnson and 19th pick to get Lottery pick The Brooklyn Nets came away from the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery hoping to get the first overall pick that would allow them to take Duke forward Cooper Flagg to begin their rebuild with a hot start. Unfortunately for Brooklyn, they came away from the Lottery with the eighth overall pick, but it looks like they are trying to take the Draft into their own hands. Per NetsDaily on Wednesday via X, the Nets "may want to move up from #19 to the lottery, offering CamJ and #19 to Raptors or Rockets for either Raps 9th or Rockets 10th plus a bad contract." Since the Lottery passed, there has been consistent reporting alluding to the possibility of Brooklyn trying to shake things up by either using their best pick to move up or by getting another Lottery pick. "That would give Nets two picks in top 10 (presupposing neither team would need picks for Giannis trade.)," NetsDaily's post continued. Nets forward Cam Johnson has been consistently brought up in trade rumors ever since last offseason when the Nets began their rebuild by trading Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks in exchange for draft picks, but it seems like these reports about Brooklyn and the Draft are increasing in frequency. Brian Lewis of the New York Post reported in May that "there is a sentiment around the league the Nets could look to land a second lottery pick by consolidating and packaging some combination of Johnson, those picks at the end of the first round and/or future draft capital." This report followed one by NBA insider Jake Fischer in which the belief among rival teams is that the Nets are going to attempt to trade up in the Draft. When it comes to the term "bad contract," it will be interesting to see what that means for either the Toronto Raptors, who have the ninth overall pick, or the Houston Rockets, who have the 10th overall pick. Johnson, who is slated to make $20.5 million for the 2025-26 season, could potentially get Brooklyn someone like center Jakob Poeltl or forward RJ Barrett from the Raptors or players like forwards Jabari Smith Jr. or Dillon Brooks from the Rockets.
