Lauryn Hill took to the Essence Festival stage super late and organizers want you to know that wasn't her fault
The singer closed out the first night of the festival with a performance that began around 2:30 a.m. Though Hill has a run late for her shows on occasions in the past, organizers of the festival wanted to make clear Hill was not responsible for her the delayed start over the weekend.
'Family is family and around here we protect our own no matter what the PEOPLE have to say. Let's be very clear— WE don't play about Ms. Lauryn Hill,' the festival wrote in a post shared on social media. 'Not for clicks. Not for headlines. She arrived on schedule, stepped on that stage, and delivered the kind of performance only a legend can.'
The post, which includes a video of her performing, goes on to read: 'The delay? Not hers. We will take that.'
'The moment? One for the books. The legacy? Still unmatched,' the caption reads. 'Put some respect on her name. Keep the takes, but keep her out of them. All love and deep profound admiration for Ms. Lauryn Hill.'
Hill's setlist included several of her hits such as 'Everything Is Everything' and 'Ex-Factor.'
Her debut solo album, 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,' was released in August 1998 and won five Grammys, including album of the year and best new artist for Hill.
Hill shared the video from Essence Fest on the stories portion of her verified Instagram account.

John Cena finally reveals when his last WWE match will take place
The post John Cena finally reveals when his last WWE match will take place appeared first on ClutchPoints. We're over halfway through John Cena's farewell tour, and the reigning WWE Champion revealed when his last match will take place. Advertisement He spoke to Page Six on the red carpet for his new movie Heads of State, which he stars in alongside Idris Elba, about his final match in WWE. While he would not reveal who it would be against, he promised something 'compelling.' 'Well, I don't want to downplay the action in WWE,' said Cena. 'There's always a bunch of action over there. And yes, I'm 48, my last match will be in mid-December. 'We're still trying to figure out a place to do it. I said [I would work] 36 dates in January — we're halfway through. Gosh, it's been a lot of compelling TV, and I don't want to spoil it for anybody, but I think we're just getting started,' he continued. When will John Cena wrestle his last WWE match? Cena said his last match will take place in December 2025. It is unclear at what event — perhaps the December 2025 edition of Saturday Night's Main Event — it will take place, but he will close out the year with his final match. Advertisement That means Cena has a little under half of his dates left to fulfill. At the Royal Rumble, he said he would work about 36 shows in 2025. However, that did not mean he would compete in 36 matches, so don't expect him to wrestle 15 more times before the end of the year. Cena announced his farewell tour at Money in the Bank in July 2024. He said that 2025 would be his final year of in-ring competition. So, fans around the world have gotten a chance to see him one last time. He started the year by competing in the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber matches, winning the latter. Cena then won his record-setting 17th world championship against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. He won with the help of Travis Scott, who got involved. Since then, Cena has held onto the title. He has successfully defended it against two of his biggest rivals, Randy Orton and CM Punk. Cena also had a feud with R-Truth, now Ron Killings, in between the others. Wordle hints today for #1,485: Clues and answer for Sunday, July 13
Hey, there! We hope you're having an excellent weekend. You might be taking a moment to complete today's Wordle and maintain your streak. If you're looking for a helping hand with that, you've come to the right place. Here's our daily Wordle guide with some hints and the answer for Sunday's puzzle (#1,485). It may be that you're a Wordle newcomer and you're not completely sure how to play the game. We're here to help with that too. Wordle is a deceptively simple daily word game that first emerged in 2021. There is one five-letter word to deduce every day by process of elimination. The daily word is the same for everyone. Wordle blew up in popularity in late 2021 after creator Josh Wardle made it easy for players to share an emoji-based grid with their friends and followers that detailed how they fared each day. The game's success spurred dozens of clones across a swathe of categories and formats. The New York Times purchased Wordle in early 2022 for an undisclosed sum. The publication said that players collectively played Wordle 5.3 billion times in 2024. So, it's little surprise that Wordle is one of the best online games and puzzles you can play daily. To start playing Wordle, you simply need to enter one five-letter word. The game will tell you how close you are to that day's secret word by highlighting letters that are in the correct position in green. Letters that appear in the word but aren't in the right spot will be highlighted in yellow. If you guess any letters that are not in the secret word, the game will gray those out on the virtual keyboard. However, you can still use those letters in subsequent guesses. You'll only have six guesses to find each day's word, though you still can use grayed-out letters to help narrow things down. It's also worth remembering that letters can appear in the secret word more than once. Wordle is free to play on the NYT's website and apps, as well as on Meta Quest headsets and Discord. The game refreshes at midnight local time. If you log into a New York Times account, you can track your stats, including the all-important win streak. If you have a NYT subscription that includes full access to the publication's games, you don't have to stop after a single round of Wordle. You'll have access to an archive of more than 1,400 previous Wordle games. So if you're a relative newcomer, you'll be able to go back and catch up on previous editions. In addition, paid NYT Games members have access to a tool called the Wordle Bot. This can tell you how well you performed at each day's game. Before today's Wordle hints, here are the answers to recent puzzles that you may have missed: Yesterday's Wordle answer for Saturday, July 12 — EXILE Friday, July 11 — BRAND Thursday, July 10 — JUMPY Wednesday, July 9 — NOVEL Tuesday, July 8 — DREAD Every day, we'll try to make Wordle a little easier for you. First, we'll offer a hint that describes the meaning of the word or how it might be used in a phrase or sentence. We'll also tell you if there are any double (or even triple) letters in the word. In case you still haven't quite figured it out by that point, we'll then provide the first letter of the word. Those who are still stumped after that can continue on to find out the answer for today's Wordle. This should go without saying, but make sure to scroll slowly. Spoilers are ahead. Here is a hint for today's Wordle answer: A humanoid ornament you might find in a garden. There are no repeated letters in today's Wordle answer. The first letter of today's Wordle answer is G.
