Bella May Culley
Bella May Culley (18) sparked a massive international search operation in after she was reported missing while she was believed to be holidaying in Thailand.
However, the teen, from Billingham, County Durham, later emerged 4,000 miles away in Georgia where she had allegedly being caught carrying 30 pounds (of cannabis into the former Soviet nation.
Meanwhile, Charlotte May Lee (21) from Coulsdon, south London, is facing 25 years locked in a hellhole Sri Lankan jail after police allegedly discovered 46kg of 'Kush' - a synthetic strain of cannabis - in her suitcase
Michaela McCollum, of the infamous Peru Two, has spoken about what she sees as similarities in both cases to her own particularly that of Culley, who has told the court in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi that she is pregnant.
McCollum at the time of her arrest
Ms McCollum, from Dungannon in Co Tyrone, and Scotswoman Melissa Reid, both served just over two years in prison after they were caught with 12kg of cocaine in Lima airport in August 2013.
Reid was released from prison in June 2016 and immediately returned to Britain, while McCollum arrive back to Dublin airport in August of that year.
McCollum and Reid who had never met prior to their arrest, say that they were coerced into smuggling the cocaine while working in Ibiza.
Charlotte May Lee
Referring to Culley, McCollum told MailOnline: 'Her mum had reported her missing, then it emerged that she'd been arrested.
'There were such parallels with my case – except it was just in a different country. I couldn't help but feel bad for them.
'Whatever they have done, it's so young to be caught up in something like this, and I know what they are going to go through. And their families. It's the worst thing anybody can have to face.'
'As a mum, I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to give birth in that sort of place, and to potentially have the child taken from you and put into care,' she added about the case of Ms Culley.
"That adds a whole new, terrifying, dimension. It's just incredibly sad.
'I don't know the circumstances in detail here,' she added, 'but I do know that of all the women I came across who had been involved in drug smuggling, only about 10% were doing it as a business, who knew the risks and accepted them,' she said.
'The vast majority were the victims of some sort of coercion, usually by men. Prisons all over the world are full of women who have been caught up in something like this. And the men at the top rarely get caught.
'The men who pulled all the strings in my case were never held to account.'

Inside abandoned Madeleine McCann search farmhouse as police find 'evidence'

The baffling case of Madeleine McCann's disappearance has left police puzzled for nearly two decades, but now it seems they might be closing in on the truth. Madeleine, a three year old from Leicester, vanished from her family's holiday flat in Praia da Luz, in Portugal's Algarve region, on May 3, 2007. Known for its stunning sandy beach and family-friendly atmosphere, the picturesque former fishing village has been overshadowed by Madeleine's mysterious disappearance. German police have recently initiated new searches in the area, spurred by fresh information that reportedly surfaced during the trial of main suspect Christian Brueckner, 48. The search began on Tuesday, June 3, concentrating on the area between Praia da Luz and Brueckner's old cottage, situated on the outskirts of the village. This investigation, the most significant since 2008, has included an abandoned farmhouse encircled by partially collapsed outbuildings, where officers have collected samples of potential evidence. Police were seen removing heaps of soil from the scene, which was then transported away in plastic bags for further analysis. Firefighters were also observed draining an abandoned well, reports the Mirror. Yesterday, detectives shifted their focus to a second abandoned farmhouse in the area, where plain-clothed officers were seen excavating and removing debris from the graffiti-covered structure, situated within 100 metres of a cliff edge. However, no new leads were reportedly uncovered during the search. The search resumed today, with efforts appearing to have moved away from the disused farm buildings. This morning, a JCB digger was seen clearing rubble from the remains of a derelict building located at the far eastern end of the 50-hectare site between Praia da Luz and Lagos. With a deadline looming, investigators have until Friday, June 6, to uncover any new evidence relating to Madeleine's case. Convicted paedophile Brueckner, currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in Germany for the 2005 rape of an elderly woman at her Praia da Luz home, has denied any involvement in Madeleine's disappearance. The radar equipment used in this latest search, capable of scanning beneath the ground, will focus on trenches reportedly dug around the time the child went missing. According to an investigating source: "Following Brueckner's trial last year, someone contacted them with theories on where anyone who took Madeleine might've dumped her. They told cops about trenches that were dug in Praia at the time Madeleine disappeared, and the house where Brueckner had lived on the edge of the village. "Of course, all of these places have been searched over and over again, but now they have a new weapon in their ground-scanning radar. It means they don't need to dig for the sake of it. But as soon as they spot anything of interest, they are ready to excavate and check it." After this fresh twist, British expat Ruth Maclean, who was a neighbour to Brueckner in 2007, shared with The Times: "He was my neighbour, he was German, young, quite angry. I would hear him having arguments with his girlfriend." She added: "He raped a lady in the town. I heard about that afterwards, just a ghastly piece of work. But I didn't know of him being a ghastly piece of work at the time." Weighing in on the intensified search efforts, Ruth remarked: "We are all so exhausted. It just goes on and on. It beggars belief. "I know the properties [being searched] because I ride up there all the time with my horses. There may have been one or two wells in the old days... The fact they are going to dredge them seems absolutely ludicrous, but who knows." For nearly two decades, Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have remained unyieldingly driven in their pursuit to find their daughter, never abandoning hope of reuniting with her. To this day, the bill for the Metropolitan Police's investigation into Madeleine's disappearance, known as Operation Grange, has surpassed €15.4 million.

But after parking his car in the drive he was attacked before he could get out from behind the wheel. Lauks was battered into submission and his leather belt taken off him. The killer is said to have used Karl's scarf to silence him by jamming it in his mouth to stop his screams. He is then believed to have wrapped the tragic man's belt around his neck and choked him to death. The cold-blooded killer took Lauks' mobile phone – the fourth one stolen from him in 6 months – the murder weapon, wallet and house keys and left him dead in the car. AC/DC enthusiast Lauks started work in Western Province over 20 years ago, but fell in love with South Africa's fourth oldest town and never returned home. He was originally from Bradford, Yorkshire. Two Irish tourists arrested on suspicion of raping Irish woman in Magaluf hotel

Two Irish tourists have been arrested on suspicion of raping a compatriot in the Majorcan party resort of Magaluf. The pair, who police say they believe are brothers, were hauled to court today hours after being held. It was not immediately clear if they have already appeared before an investigating judge to be remanded in prison or released on bail. The alleged sex attack they are being investigated over occurred in the early hours of this morning. It is thought to have happened at a hotel in Magaluf. A spokesman for the Civil Guard said today: 'Two men, supposedly brothers, met the woman and her female friend and after a few hours, invited them to continue partying in their room. 'There the victim, after consuming alcohol, began to feel unwell and fell asleep. When she woke up she realised she had been sexually assaulted. 'Police attended and helped the victim. After interviewing her and carrying out a rapid investigation, they tracked down the suspected offenders and proceeded to arrest them. The two men were handed over to the courts earlier today.' Well-placed sources said the two men and the woman are all Irish passport holders. Court officials could not be reached early this afternoon. Both suspects were escorted into the court building in the Majorcan capital Palma separately in handcuffs by an armed police officer.
