Visakhapatnam: To arrange for passengers comfortable journey during Rath Yatra (Car Festival) at Puri in Odisha, the East Coast Railway has decided to run special trains between Visakhapatnam-Puri, Jagdalpur-Puri and Rayagada-Khurda Road.
Special train number-08313 Visakhapatnam-Puri via Haripurgram, Arugul will leave Visakhapatnam at 12.45 am on June 27, and July 5 and will reach Puri on the same day at 12 pm. In the return direction, train number-08314 Puri -Visakhapatnam special train will leave Puri at 2.15 am (early hours of June 28 and July 6) to arrive in Visakhapatnam on the same day at 1 pm., informed K Saandeep, senior divisional commercial manager of Waltair Division.
Special train number-08445 Jagdalpur-Puri via Haripurgram, Argul will leave Jagdalpur at 9 am on June 26 and July 4 and will reach Puri at 1.15 am midnight. In return direction the train number-08446 Puri- Jagdalpur special will leave Puri at 12.45 am on June 28 and July 6 will reach Jagdalpur on the same day at 4.45 pm.
Similarly, train n-08593 Rayagada- Khurda Road special will leave Rayagada at 11 am on June 26 and July 4 will reach Khurda Road at 11.55 pm on the same day. In return direction the train number-08594 Khurda Road-Rayagada will leave Khurda Road at 1 am on June 28 and July 6 will reach Rayagada at 3 pm on the same day.

Puri Rath Yatra 2025: Security on high alert Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday (June 22) conducted a review meeting on security-related preparations and asked officials to make the Rath Yatra completely incident-free. Sensitive locations, such as the Grand Road, will be under aerial surveillance by drones, CCTVs and the Coast Guard. The chief minister said that the government is putting in place foolproof security and safety mechanisms to ensure the annual festival remains "incident-free". During the meeting, CM Majhi said, "Our first and only aim is to ensure an incident-free Rath Yatra event. As I was informed by the officials, all the necessary measures needed for an incident-free event have been implemented." The chief minister said that the state government has deployed coast guards at sea and has also called in security forces. Artificial intelligence and drone cameras will be used for surveillance. Helicopters will also be used if required. The authorities have also taken several steps for fire safety measures and to control traffic. Special trains for Puri Rath Yatra 2025 The East Coast Railway (ECoR) announced that 365 special trains will run to and from Puri, in addition to other regular trains, during the festival period. In a statement, the ECoR said these special trains are planned to run from various parts of the state, including Rourkela, Biramitrapur, Bangiriposi, Junagarh Road, Badampahar, Boudh, Jagdalpur, Baleswar, Angul, Gunupur, Rayagada and other places. Special trains will also operate to and from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Gondia in Chhattisgarh and Santragachi in West Bengal, on the main days of the car festival, it said. "This comprehensive rail connectivity will not only cater to the massive surge of pilgrims during the festival but also significantly ease travel for people in remote and interior districts," the ECor said in the statement.

Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Sunday announced comprehensive arrangements for the Rath Yatra in Puri, with plans to operate a record 365 special trains. This marks an increase from the 315 operated during Rath Yatra last year. The special train services will connect Puri to various parts of Odisha and neighbouring states, ensuring smooth travel for pilgrims and visitors. The extensive network will cover Rourkela, Biramitrapur, Bangiriposi, Junagarh Road, Sambalpur, Angul and Cuttack. The services will also extend to key destinations in neighbouring states, including Visakhapatnam and Palasa in Andhra Pradesh, Jagadalpur and Gondia in Chhattisgarh, and Santragachhi in West Bengal. Special emphasis has been placed on major festival days, including Gundicha Yatra, Sandhya Darshan, Bahuda Yatra and Suna Besha. Railways have planned dedicated services from remote and interior districts to ensure maximum accessibility for devotees.
