Disney has wasted little time in capitalizing on the success of the animated remake reboot "Lilo & Stitch". On Thursday, Disney posted a video on social media, letting fans know that "Lilo & Stitch 2" is already in development. You can watch the video below.

The video has Stitch driving around the back lots of Walt Disney Studios, dropping hints first with his "2 Fast" license plate and driving by "Studio 2". Finally, with his tires, he writes out "Lilo & Stitch 2" on the asphalt.

It should come as little surprise that Disney is already keen to get a "Lilo & Stitch" sequel, considering its massive success. In spite of mixed reactions to many of the studio's live-action remakes lately, "Lilo & Stitch" has proven to be a record breaker in all the best ways.
Among other things, the film earned the biggest 4-Day Memorial Day weekend box office ever with $182.6 million. That flew past even a record set by "Top Gun: Maverick", which earned $160.5 million.
"Lilo & Stitch" enjoyed the highest Disney live-action opening of all time in Latin America, earning $27 million in Mexico and $12.2 million in Brazil.
The remake earned the third-highest worldwide box office opening for a Disney live-action remake with $342 million, coming up short against "Beauty and the Beast" ($357 million) and "The Lion King" ($433 million).
With only its opening weekend take, the live-action "Lilo & Stitch" soared over the entire theatrical release of the original animated film, which only took in $275 million.
Overall, "Lilo & Stitch" has proven to be the second highest-grossing MPA movie of the year so far. The remake has made $923 million worldwide, coming in behind the $954 million amassed by "A Minecraft Movie".
Even without the "Lilo & Stitch" remake, the franchise is one of the most important ones owned by Disney. According to Deadline, products based on "Lilo & Stitch" made Disney over $2.5 billion last year, and is one of 11 franchises that made over $1 billion for the company in 2024.
"Lilo & Stitch" is also one of the most-streamed franchises on Disney+, with 546 million streamed hours of "Lilo & Stitch" content, and over half of that (280 million) attributed to views of the 2002 animated movie.
There's no word yet on who will be writing or directing "Lilo & Stitch 2" or what cast members will return for the sequel. However, the return of Chris Sanders, who voiced Stitch and co-directed the 2002 animated film, seems like one of the safer bets.

The Witcher Season 4 Release Date, Story, Cast, and Everything We Know
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The Witcher Season 4 is on its way. Netflix has dropped a ton of exciting details for its upcoming fantasy epic series, so keep reading for the release date, story, cast list, and more. We already know it's the debut of Liam Hemsworth, who replaces former series lead Henry Cavill as monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. But did you know The Witcher Season 4 is the penultimate season? Or that it was shot virtually back to back with The Witcher Season 5? Liam Hemsworth stars in The Witcher Season 4 Liam Hemsworth stars in The Witcher Season 4 Netflix We've got plenty of fresh info about the eagerly awaited show, so scroll down for everything we know. The Witcher Season 4 Story The Witcher season 4 will incorporate storylines from the three remaining novels in The Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski's series. These are Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake. Baptism of Fire sees Geralt caught between two warring clans, and Ciri join a group of thieves called The Rats. "It wouldn't be our show if we didn't push our family of characters to their absolute limit," creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich tells Netflix. "Stay tuned to see how the story ends." The Witcher Season 4 Synopsis "After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire – and finding one another again," per Netflix's official synopsis. What Happened in The Witcher Season 3 Ending? The Witcher Season 3 ends with Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer all separated after being defeated by the mage Vilgefortz. Geralt now sets off to save Ciri, alongside Jaskier and Milva. However, they're going after a decoy. The real joined the group of young criminals known as The Rats (there are rumours of a spinoff show). Yennefer, meanwhile, replaces head sorceress Tissia as the new leader of Aretuza. The Witcher Season 4 Release Date The Witcher Season 4 will release in 2025, as confirmed by Netflix. However, an exact date for the show has yet to be announced. Filming has already wrapped, which is a good sign we'll see it sooner rather than later. "So we've been shooting now about eight months," Hemsworth said in an interview on Live With Kelly and Mark. "Three more weeks and then we break for about four months and then come back next year and do another eight months," Hemsworth added, referring to The Witcher Season 5. Season 4 is being shot relatively back-to-back (albeit with a short break in between) with the fifth and final season. After that, there's no more source material from Sapkowski. The Witcher Season 4 Cast The Witcher Season 4 cast features both new characters and returning favourites, as confirmed by Netflix. The list of departure include Geralt (Henry Cavill), Tissaia (MyAnna Buring), Lydia (Aisha Fabienne Ross), Filavandrel (Tom Canton), Artorius (Terence Maynard), Gallatin (Robbie Amell), and Rience (Sam Woolf), and Vesemir (Kim Bodnia). I may have some big boots to fill, but I'm truly excited to be stepping into The Witcherworld." Is Henry Cavill in The Witcher Season 4? No, Henry Cavill is not in The Witcher Season 4.
