OSK enters motorcycle financing with RM16.5mil acquisition of Wilayah Credit
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the conglomerate stated that its wholly-owned subsidiary, OSK Retail Capital Sdn Bhd (OSKRC), had entered into a share sale agreement with Platinum Moment Sdn Bhd, which wholly owns Wilayah Credit.
"The proposed acquisition will enable the group's consumer financing business to expand into motorcycle financing, which aligns with OSK's strategy to diversify its consumer financing product offering," said the filing.
Upon the completion of the acquisition, OSK will arrange for Wilayah Credit to sell three excluded real estate properties located in Kuala Lumpur back to Platinum Moment for RM12.60 million.
Completion of the acquisition is expected in 3Q 2025, said OSK.
Wilayah Credit has a total issued and paid share capital of RM10 million divided into 10 million ordinary shares.

Both face two separate charges each, as well as one joint charge, over the alleged offences. The charges were framed under Section 28(1)(c) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, read together with Section 18 of the same Act, and punishable under Section 24(2). Upon conviction, the provision carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence and a fine of at least five times the value of the false particulars, or RM10,000, whichever is higher. The documents were allegedly submitted to an administrative assistant at the DIDR office between 2022 and 2023. Court of Appeal upholds Sarawak homebuyers' right to claim from booking fee date
KUCHING: The Court of Appeal has upheld a ruling that late delivery compensation for homes in Sarawak should be calculated from the date the booking fee is paid, not the date of the sale and purchase agreement (SPA). In a unanimous decision on Thursday (August 24), a three-member bench, comprising Datuk Azimah Binti Omar, Datuk Wong Kian Kheong and Datuk Ismail Brahim allowed an appeal by the Sarawak Housing Tribunal against developer Lien Dak Development Sdn Bhd, awarding costs of RM10,000. The judgment followed the Federal Court's precedent in the PJD Regency case and the RJ Realty cases in Sarawak. The dispute began when buyers Wong Sii Hieng and Ng Siew Eng complained to the Tribunal in 2021 over the late delivery of a Rock Road property purchased in 2016. The Tribunal ruled in their favour, but the High Court later quashed the award. The Court of Appeal has now reinstated the Tribunal's decision, reinforcing homebuyers' rights. Separately, the Court allowed Sentoria Borneo Land Sdn Bhd to discharge its legal team in an ongoing appeal involving purchasers of Borneo Samariang Resort City serviced apartments. The Tribunal, represented by the Sarawak State Attorney-General's Chambers, is defending its awards under the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Ordinance 2013. The case will return for case management on September 12, 2025.

SST maintained for industry familiarity and revenue growth says MoF
KUALA LUMPUR: The government believes the Sales and Service Tax (SST) should continue as it is well understood by businesses and the public. The Ministry of Finance (MoF) stated that SST can be improved to boost revenue and deliver quicker fiscal benefits. MoF highlighted that SST has been operational for over 40 years, making it a stable revenue source. Reintroducing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) would require up to two years for businesses to adjust their systems. The ministry shared this in a parliamentary reply to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (BN-Bera), who inquired about SST's advantages. Expanding SST's scope is expected to raise an additional RM10 billion annually from 2026. MoF noted that both GST and SST have distinct pros and cons. GST applies at multiple stages but includes an input tax credit mechanism. SST, however, is a single-stage tax without input tax credits but allows targeted exemptions. - Bernama
