NBA releases 2025-26 regular-season schedule
This will be the first season of an 11-year agreement that sees NBCUniversal and Amazon get in on the NBA action alongside ESPN, with Turner Sports' TNT out of the picture.
The NBA's national broadcast schedule with these new partners was revealed. It features games on ABC, NBC and Peacock on Sundays; Peacock alone on Mondays; and NBC and Peacock on Tuesdays. ESPN will carry national broadcasts Wednesdays and Fridays, ABC will add games on Saturday and Prime Video will feature on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Thanksgiving week will feature a pair of star forwards visiting their old digs for the first time. Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets will play at the Phoenix Suns on Nov. 24, Durant's first time facing Phoenix following an offseason trade.
Then, on Nov. 28, the Dallas Mavericks will visit Los Angeles to mark Anthony Davis' first game at the Lakers since the blockbuster deal featuring him and Luka Doncic trading uniforms.
Some marquee games already were known, including the opening night doubleheader on Oct. 21 (Rockets at Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors at Lakers) and the five-game slate on Christmas Day.
NBC will carry the Oct. 21 doubleheader, while ESPN gets in on the action Oct. 22. The new-look Mavericks and No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg will play host to Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs that day after the Cleveland Cavaliers open the season at the New York Knicks.
The Boston Celtics dealt Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers this offseason. Portland -- which also brought back longtime star guard Damian Lillard -- will visit Boston on Jan. 26.
As for the Lakers, it remains up in the air whether LeBron James will play beyond this season, his 23rd in the league. His final trip to his hometown Cavaliers is scheduled for Jan. 28.
Each team learned of 80 of its 82 regular-season dates Thursday. The other two games will be determined by the results of the in-season NBA Cup.

The Big Ten could be proposing a massive expansion to the College Football Playoff
While we just finished the first season of a 12-team College Football Playoff, where Notre Dame went to the championship game, the Big Ten is starting to have ideas of a bigger expansion. There has already been chatter of expanding the field to 16-teams, with the Big Ten and SEC being the main benefactors of that move. On Saturday, the conference looks like they might be laying the groundwork for an even bigger expansion, either 24 for 28 teams reports ESPN's Pete Thamel. The potential proposal would see the elimination of conference title games, giving more automatic bids to power conferences, and just two at-large bids. This clearly would not be the best case for the Irish, as both the Big Ten and SEC would have 7 bids, with the ACC and Big 12 each getting five. It would have the Group of Five teams getting an extra bid as well, but it might not make a difference at all of Notre Dame continues to stay inside the top-25 teams. It's hard to imagine that won't happen, especially considering how well the program has done since Marcus Freeman took over. Personally, I hate this idea, as there aren't typically more than six teams that can realistically win a title. It also waters down an already watered down bowl season, where if you aren't in the CFP, it's almost as if it doesn't matter. I'm still in the camp that eight teams is enough, and while this past season was extremely exciting, it was drawn out too long. Imagine if this did pass how much longer the playoff would be, even with eliminating conference championship games. Another aspect of this that I don't like, its great to see the top two teams in each conference battle it. Hopefully this is just talk, as I don't think this move would be good for college football. Report: Why the NFL is Waiting to Suspend Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the best NFL rosters in 2025, especially with top wide receiver Rashee Rice now healthy. While Kansas City has been bracing for Rice to receive a multi-game suspension from the National Football League, that won't come until weeks after the 2025 NFL season kicks off in September. Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that Rice's expected disciplinary hearing being scheduled for Sept. 30, rather than a suspension being announced before Week 1, because the parties involved 'couldn't reach agreement' on how long Rice will be suspended. Related: Rashee Rice stats (): 103 receptions, 1,226 receiving yards, 11.9 yards per reception, 59 first downs, 9 touchdowns in 20 games If the parties could agree on a suspension length, as they did in the case of free agent kicker Justin Tucker, a suspension would have been announced and would have started in Week 1. Because Rice, the NFL Players Association, and the league can't agree on a suspension length, the case will be heard by disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson. According to Graziano, Robinson isn't available until Sept. 30. This is similar to what happened with Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, whose hearing took place on June 28, 2022. Robinson then issued her ruling, a six-game suspension, on August 1. The NFL appealed it and eventually settled with Watson on Aug. 18 for an 11-game suspension. Related: When will Rashee Rice be suspended? The Chiefs play four games before Sept. 30, meaning Rice would be eligible to play in all four matchups barring a settlement on a suspension length. However, if the scheduled hearing remains in place, there's a strong likelihood that Rice could play in Week 5. As noted by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, a ruling likely wouldn't be made ahead of Kansas City's Monday Night Football matchup on Oct. 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. So, the next earliest game Rice could be suspended for would be Week 6 (Oct. 12) against the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football. Rashee Rice contract (): $1.771 million cap hit (2025), $2.066 million cap hit (2026) Rice has already pleaded guilty to two third-degree felonies—collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury—stemming from the multicar crash in Dallas in 2024. So, this isn't a matter of the NFL needing time to further investigate to determine if he's guilty. Related: In all likelihood, as Florio and Graziano have noted, the NFL likely pushed for a lengthier multi-game suspension that the NFLPA and Rice both opposed. Going in front of Robinson is a bit of a gamble for both sides, as she could determine Rice needs a longer suspension or a shorter multi-game ban. Whatever Robinson rules, the NFL or NFLPA could appeal the decision in October and continue to negotiate behind the scenes. If Rice is healthy, he should be on the field for the first month-plus of the regular season, with any eventual suspension likely carrying over into the second half of the Chiefs' schedule.
