84 Out Of 100 Haj Flights Have Arrived At Holy Land

MAKKAH, May 27 (Bernama) -- Eighty-four out of 100 flights carrying Malaysian pilgrims for the 1446H/2025M pilgrimage season have arrived at the Holy Land, operated by two main carriers, AMAL by Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia).
Head of the Malaysian Haj Delegation, Mohd Hisham Harun, said that as of May 26, MAS had operated 50 out of its 55 scheduled flights, equivalent to 90.1 percent, while Saudia had completed 34 out of 45 flights, or 75.6 percent.
"The remaining 16 flights — five by MAS and 11 by Saudia — are scheduled to depart soon, completing the transportation of pilgrims to the Holy Land," he told the media after a visit to the Masyair operations area on Monday.
Meanwhile, Mohd Hisham reported that 25,331 Malaysian pilgrims have arrived in the Holy Land so far.
'Of that number, 99.8 percent or 25,281 pilgrims, are currently in Makkah, while 50 remain in Madinah for matters related to the Malaysian Hajj Welfare and Worship Committee,' he added.
For this year's pilgrimage, the Saudi Arabian government has approved a quota of 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims, who are scheduled to arrive in Madinah and Makkah in stages.
The first flight departed on April 29, while the final flight is scheduled for June 1. Wukuf day, 9 Zulhijjah, is expected to fall on Thursday, June 5.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians planning to perform the haj must possess a valid permit or visa. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said attempting to perform the haj without a valid visa is not only a breach of Saudi Arabian law but also poses significant risks to the pilgrims themselves. "This includes facing hefty fines, deportation, and being blacklisted from entering Saudi Arabia for an extended period," he said. "Such actions also risk jeopardising the longstanding cordial relations between the Malaysian and Saudi governments, and could lead to the revocation of privileges previously granted to Malaysian pilgrims," he said. He was commenting on the case of 80 Malaysian pilgrims who were detained at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) recently for attempting to travel using tourist visas. Na'im said Lembaga Tabung Haji consistently reminds prospective pilgrims not to be lured by packages offering unrealistic prices or marketed by unauthorised haj operators. "While mujamalah or furada visas are considered valid, they are exclusive privileges of the Saudi government and fall outside the official haj quota," he said. He added that under the Tabung Haji Act 1995 (Act 535), it is an offence for any travel agency or individual not licensed as a haj operator by Tabung Haji to advertise haj packages. As such, he urged the public to report any unauthorised haj promotions found on social media or websites to Tabung Haji, to help curb the activities of unlicensed operators.

Acknowledging every nation's sovereign right to border protection and security, the AU Commission said in a statement it is concerned over 'potential negative impact' on people-to-people ties, educational exchange, trade, and the broader diplomatic relations that 'have been carefully nurtured over decades.' The Trump administration announced on Wednesday evening a ban that is set to prohibit travel to the US from a dozen countries and restrict travel from seven others, citing inadequate screening and vetting processes, which hinder "America's ability to identify potential security threats before entry." The White House said in a statement that Trump took the action after reviewing a report from Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other officials. Trump's order specifically prohibits people from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen from entering the US. An additional seven countries -- Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela -- will face partial restrictions and limited entry of their nationals.
