Daily Mail13-05-2025
Nicole Scherzinger looked incredible as she performed during Family Equality's Night at the Pier benefit, which took place at Pier Sixty in New York on Monday.
The Pussycat Dolls star, 46, who performed songs from her show Sunset Bvld, turned heads in a stunning strapless black gown on the night.
The frock featured a sculptured bodice and a gathered waist that led to a sheer skirt, giving a glimpse of her toned pins through the transparent material.
Nicola added inches to her frame with a pair of black open-toe block heels and pulled her raven locks into a glamorous up do.
The beauty accessorised with silver statement earrings and fished her look off with a swipe of rosy pink lipstick.
Once inside the event, Nicole performed for guests including Lucy Liu, Brandon Flynn, Jessica Capshaw, and Orfeh.
As well as the Pussycat Dolls star, Darren Criss and Megan Hilty also performed at the event.
Family Equality's Night at the Pier gala is a celebration of LGBTQ families, and the people and organizations that have made an impact.
Last year, nearly $1,000,000 (roughly £840k) was raised through the event for LGBTQ+ families.
Earlier in the day, Nicole commanded attention in an eye catching plunging blue midi dress as she stepped out in New York City for an appearance on CBS Morning Show.
The singer looked incredible in the sleeveless skintight bandage number which showcased her amazing figure.
Nicole added inches to her frame in a pair of towering white stilettos and opted for a glamorous palette of makeup for the TV appearance.
She star accessorised with a chunky blue necklace and donned a pair of large silver earrings.
Styling her long dark tresses loose in curls, the actress flashed her gorgeous smile as she posed for photos ahead of chatting to hosts Gayle King and Tony Dokoupil about her recent Tony Award nomination.
Lucy Liu and Brandon Flynn were both spotted posing up a storm on the carpet for the charity gala
Jessica Capshaw wowed in a white strapless mini dress which she teamed with a pair of pointed heels
Nicole is currently performing in Sunset Blvd on Broadway as character Norma Desmond.
During her appearance, Nicole said it took her years for people to take her seriously after she was 'put in a box' for years for being in the Pussycat Dolls.
She said: 'This is my debut on Broadway which is what I've always dreamed of and it's 30 years in the making of working, preparing and performing.
'I feel so fulfilled to share all my gifts and abilities with the world and connect with people through performing on a deeper and soulful level.
'The dolls only saw me, people pigeon hole you and they put you in a box, so for a long time I wasn't able to audition for films and musicals that I loved.
'I got fed up and six years ago I created my own show where I invited people from the industry and brought it to Broadway and London and LA. It is my passion.'
Nicole joked that she almost didn't take the role because it wasn't glamorous enough for her until she properly read the script and 'fell madly in love' with the role.
She said: 'I didn't not almost take it, just when I got asked to take it I was like this is your big idea an old faded film star, honey I'm a Pussycat Doll and I have big lights.
'But he said read the script and I felt like I completely understand Norma, we all have layers. The role is so deep and the music made me fall madly in love with it.'
Nicole admitted she has 'grown' and 'evolved' as a performer since playing Norma and she is 'proud' of how far she has come.
She added: 'I've always had big balls and they are the biggest they have ever been now and I've grown so much because you are completely vulnerable out there.
'You have no sets and costumes to hide behind and you can really connect on a soulful level and I've evolved so much as an actor and I'm very proud and courage.'
This year marks Nicole's first Tony Award nod for her role as Norma Desmond in Sunset Blvd.
Other nominees include Audra McDonald for Gypsy, Megan Hilty for Death Becomes Her, Jasmine Amy Rogers for Boop! The Musica , and Jennifer Simard for Death Becomes Her, in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical.

Jesse Watters shares bizarre Sydney Sweeney and Barron Trump fantasy: ‘Create the greatest political dynasty'

Fox News host Jesse Watters has proposed Barron Trump and Sydney Sweeney get married and form the 'greatest political dynasty." He shared his brainwave about the president's son and the actress hours after Trump weighed in, again, on Sweeney's controversial ad campaign for American Eagle. 'You know how this ends? She is going to marry Barron. And it's going to create the greatest political dynasty in American history,' Watters said during Monday's airing of The Five. His Fox News colleagues burst into laughter. The 27-year-old actress has starred in hit TV shows including White Lotus and Euphoria. Barron Trump, 19, is the president's youngest son, and attends New York University. The ad campaign — 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' — has been the target of backlash after critics took issue with its play on words, saying it evokes the language of eugenics, the racist and discredited belief that the human race can be improved through selective breeding. In the commercial, the blonde-haired, blue-eyed actress, dressed in an all-denim outfit, speaks directly into the camera. 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color,' she says. 'My jeans are blue.' Playing on the word 'genes,' a voiceover then says: 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.' American Eagle has defended the ad campaign. It 'is and always was about the jeans,' the retailer said in a statement Friday. 'We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way,' the statement continued. 'Great jeans look good on everyone.' Sweeney has yet to make a public statement on the matter. Watters also claimed Monday that those who took issue with the ad were "Democrats.. obsessed with Nazis." 'Why are Democrats so obsessed with Nazis? Everything is Nazis. When I hear someone has good genes, I think: hot parents. I don't think: Hitler,' he said. The president had started praising the ad this weekend after learning that Sweeney was a registered Republican. 'She's a registered Republican? Now I love her ad,' the president told reporters Sunday. Public voting records revealed that the White Lotus actress has been registered with the Republican Party in Florida since June 2024. She has neither endorsed nor supported Trump publicly. The following day, Trump was still opining on Truth Social, praising it as 'the 'HOTTEST' ad out there.' 'Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the 'HOTTEST' ad out there,' he wrote. 'It's for American Eagle, and the jeans are 'flying off the shelves.'' Trump then condemned what he believed to be 'WOKE,' including singer Taylor Swift, writing: 'Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be.' Shortly after the president wrote the social media post, American Eagle stock soared. Throughout the day, stock rose 2.54 points, or 23.65 percent. Watters also praised Trump for supporting the ad, saying he was 'in on the culture' because he watches so much television. 'Trump, who is in the culture because he watches TV all the time, seizes on this, champions on this great American clothing company and the Democrats use another culture war battle,' the host said. 'They are winless in the culture war in the last couple years. They're like the Cleveland Browns of politics.'

New aerial pics show Kim Kardashian's $6m Palm Springs plot is an icky eyesore as spaceship mansion construction delayed

NEW aerial pictures have shown Kim Kardashian's $6m Palm Springs plot is an icky eyesore, as her spaceship mansion construction is delayed. Kim, 44, bought land in La Quinta with her now ex-husband Kanye West for $6,300,000 in 2019. 6 6 6 She won the property in their divorce and the land was transferred to her sole trust in 2023. The U.S. Sun reported The Kardashians star filed a new permit for the land on October 28, 2024 after building issues. But new aerial images show the land is drying out, despite Kim's plans to build a spaceship-shaped designer home. In new photos, Kim's land is seen drying out and reverting to a desert-style eyesore as delays to the project head towards their fifth year. The land is on the same street where Kim's mom Kris, sister Kourney and half-sister Kylie also have existing homes. Kim's plans to build the Tadao Ando-designed property have been beset by a myriad of problems since it was revealed in 2021. In February, The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed there had been yet another setback in building on the land. According to three La Quinta building permits dated January 29, 2025, the Initial Review and Fees Paid as of January 30, 2025 was listed as 'not passed.' One of the plans for 'dust mitigation' had unpaid fees in the amount of $752.70. The second plan was for 'erosion control' and had fees due in the amount of $2,266.35. Kim Kardashian's 'dangerous' Skims face wrap 'could cause joint misalignment' & will NOT reshape jawline, top doc claims The final plan was for 'precise grading plans for a custom home' with $2,280.45 in unpaid fees. This brought the total cost in fees to $5,299.50, and Kim had until March 1, 2025 to pay the fees. As The U.S. Sun reported, the Building Residential Permit covers 'new dwellings, additions, remodels, carports and garages," according to the City of La Quinta. According to the permit, the single-family residence will be 20,310 square feet, feature seven bedrooms, a pool and a spa. Construction for the one-story home was initially thought to set the Skims founder back $8 million, but an updated amount was adjusted to $2,137,903, according to the permit. The first Building Major Review on December 6, 2024 was not passed, and a new one was scheduled for February 10. She purchased her dream 3-acre waterfront property in 2022 and has reportedly spent thousands of dollars renovating it in the past two years. Kim, 44, previously gave her sister Khloe a walkthrough of her stunning oasis, which was documented on their Hulu series, The Kardashians. In a confessional interview, she revealed that she'd found her "dream" home and detailed the emotional moment she closed the deal. Supermodel Cindy Crawford, 57, and her husband, Rande Gerber, 60, previously owned the lavish property. 6 6 6

King of the Hill review – this charming comedy returns after 15 years … and it's more welcome than ever

It's been 15 years since we last enjoyed the company of Hank and Peggy Hill. Barack Obama had just entered the White House, Hank was a younger man with an exciting adventure ahead of him and all was, if not quite well with the world, certainly at least explicable. But now? Season 14 of this revived, beloved animated sitcom is upon us, feeling anachronistic yet also oddly timely. It's like reconnecting with a group of old friends and realising that, while they are much as they always were, the context in which you now see them has altered beyond all recognition. Playing slightly against cartoon convention, the Hills' lives have moved on. Unlike, for example, the ageless Simpsons, everyone is visibly older. In the intervening years, the propane industry has taken Hank and Peggy to Saudi Arabia. As we rejoin them, they are on the plane home. Hank has been in the toilet for hours because, as Peggy sees fit to inform the other passengers, 'he now has the urethra of a seven-year-old'. When they touch down in Texas, Hank kisses the ground. But will he recognise the place? As they drive around their neighbourhood, Hank has a realisation. Their gated community in Saudi Arabia was 'more Texan than Texas'. The US has exported an idealised version of its past especially for the ex-pats, even as the country itself has transformed beyond all recognition. King of the Hill always did subtle political messaging, wrapping pointed observations in the gentleness of the comedy. Hank is quickly back on familiar territory, standing by the fence outside his home, sharing a beer with his old pals. Bill has let himself go, badly. Boomhauer is still mumbly, but now has a similarly mumbly child. He greets Hank with a slightly surprising hug. As a man who still expresses his love for his son by offering to check the oil in his car, Hank finds this awkward. But as ever, the writing brings a remarkable amount of nuance to these simply but carefully constructed characters. Even in retirement, Hank is working through a few things. Dale, though, is a different keg of beer altogether. He hasn't learned anything; instead the world has come around to him. Back in the day, Dale's fondness for conspiracy theories made him the butt of the jokes. He doesn't seem like such a harmless eccentric any more, though. Needless to say, he references 'the pandumbic'. Hank, though, is old school and old media; he had access only to Fox News and CNN while in Saudi Arabia – although he feels he has to apologise for having watched CNN. Hank is a Republican – during the show's original run, his response to learning that he was driving through Bill Clinton's home town was to lock his car doors. But this adds real poignancy to the new iteration of the show. Much has changed in the US and not everything to Hank's satisfaction, with one of those things being public discourse. At one point, Hank, Peggy and Dale go on a museum tour themed around George W Bush during which they are offered the chance to role-play a cabinet meeting. However, it degenerates into wild fiction as participants start ranting about 'Obama's Kenyan handler'. Dale is no longer an outlier – he's now a thought-leader. Mike Judge's and Greg Daniels's writing perspective is evident here: Hank longs for an old, moderate America that couldn't always agree, but could at least accept shared terms of reference within which they could argue. There is, however, a kindness to King of the Hill, which finds equal expression alongside the show's occasional disquiet. There is charm and progress in its apparently changeless setting. The Hills' son, Bobby, was once a chubby, geeky misfit. Happily, he has been given an upgrade that feels at once generous, eccentric and earned. He is a chef at a Japanese restaurant and Hank's and Bobby's familial battles are now fought via the proxies of food and drink. Hank and Bobby enter a brewing contest. 'It's just a friendly contest between father and son,' says Hank. 'Where the father will kick his son's ass.' Father and son receive a necessary lesson in humility. There remains a lightness and ease to these exchanges. Fittingly, as is the case with most longstanding relationships, the old rhythms return almost immediately, for the Hills and for viewers. Often, King of the Hill drifts toward the neat and the saccharin. It's not a show that will ever hold back on the hugging and learning. But that feels entirely deliberate; at the moment, a show prioritising modesty, tolerance and gentle revelation feels more welcome than ever. King of the Hill is on Disney+
