'Nearly two decades later, it's incredibly gratifying and inspiring to see the impact of this research. Bringing the show to Nashville will infuse new energy and excitement into our mission. There's still so much work to do and every dollar makes a difference—especially to the families who are counting on novel approaches and therapies as they face the challenges that often accompany a cancer diagnosis.' The commercial-free show will be carried on more than 30 participating platforms including the four major networks (NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox), as well as CMT, AXS TV, Pluto TV, Paramount+, Hulu, HBO Max, Prime Video, AMC+, Comedy Central, MTV, Disney+ and others; viewers will also be able to watch the telecast on-demand on a number of digital and streaming platform. The biennial event was first televised in 2008, when it raised more than $100 million following a broadcast that featured Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze — who died of pancreatic cancer a year later — as well as cancer survivors Crow, Melissa Etheridge and actress Christina Applegate, with appearances from Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood and Miley Cyrus, among others. The 2023 show featured performances from Alabama Shakes singer and solo performer Brittany Howard and The Who, as well as appearances by Jessica Biel, Ken Jeong, Tig Notaro, Julianne Moore and Justin Timberlake. Winter fuel payment in Scotland to match UK benefit

The Scottish Government's devolved version of the winter fuel payment will match the value of the UK benefit, John Swinney has announced. Chancellor Rachel Reeves confirmed last week that the payment would be reinstated to the majority of pensioners. Following the initial decision to cut the universal benefit, the Scottish Government was forced to delay its plans for the pension age winter heating payment, but in December it announced pensioners north of the border would receive at least £100 every year. Speaking in Glasgow on Monday, the First Minister confirmed the Scottish Government's benefit would at least match that proposed by the UK Government. Pensioners south of the border who earn under £35,000 will receive either £200 or £300. 'I'm very happy to confirm today that no pensioner in Scotland will receive less than they would under the new UK scheme,' he said. 'Details will be set out in due course by my Government, but the Scottish Government will always seek to do what is best for Scotland's pensioners.' The changes announced last week will result in further increases in funding for the Scottish Government, which the First Minister later told journalists is expected to be around £120 million. Speaking at an event on public sector reform on Monday, the First Minister hit out at the initial decision to cut the benefit. 'To be quite blunt about it, I don't believe cutting this winter lifeline was ever going to save a penny,' he said. 'Making millions of pensioners poorer makes them also colder and makes them also sicker, and that in turn puts up the bill for our social services and our NHS.' He added: 'It's one of the reasons we were so quick to step in to protect pensioners in Scotland as best as we could from that wrong decision by the UK Government. 'But now that they've seen the error of their ways, my Government will once again to the right thing by Scotland's pensioners.' The power over the payment was devolved to Social Security Scotland in time for it to be paid out last winter. When asked if he regretted not offering it to older Scots, the First Minister said: 'I might have had the power, but I didn't have the money and I can't spend money I don't have. 'If the UK Government cuts a budget, I can't spend it, and what we've done is we've taken a series of hard decisions to allow us, before the Labour Government came anywhere near doing a U-turn on this, to restore winter fuel payments to pensioners because of other hard decisions that I've made. 'So the SNP has kept faith with pensioners in Scotland when the Labour Party has deserted them.'

Nicole Scherzinger wows in a structured black gown as she takes to the stage at LGBTQ+ charity event

Nicole Scherzinger looked incredible as she performed during Family Equality's Night at the Pier benefit, which took place at Pier Sixty in New York on Monday. The Pussycat Dolls star, 46, who performed songs from her show Sunset Bvld, turned heads in a stunning strapless black gown on the night. The frock featured a sculptured bodice and a gathered waist that led to a sheer skirt, giving a glimpse of her toned pins through the transparent material. Nicola added inches to her frame with a pair of black open-toe block heels and pulled her raven locks into a glamorous up do. The beauty accessorised with silver statement earrings and fished her look off with a swipe of rosy pink lipstick. Once inside the event, Nicole performed for guests including Lucy Liu, Brandon Flynn, Jessica Capshaw, and Orfeh. As well as the Pussycat Dolls star, Darren Criss and Megan Hilty also performed at the event. Family Equality's Night at the Pier gala is a celebration of LGBTQ families, and the people and organizations that have made an impact. Last year, nearly $1,000,000 (roughly £840k) was raised through the event for LGBTQ+ families. Earlier in the day, Nicole commanded attention in an eye catching plunging blue midi dress as she stepped out in New York City for an appearance on CBS Morning Show. The singer looked incredible in the sleeveless skintight bandage number which showcased her amazing figure. Nicole added inches to her frame in a pair of towering white stilettos and opted for a glamorous palette of makeup for the TV appearance. She star accessorised with a chunky blue necklace and donned a pair of large silver earrings. Styling her long dark tresses loose in curls, the actress flashed her gorgeous smile as she posed for photos ahead of chatting to hosts Gayle King and Tony Dokoupil about her recent Tony Award nomination. Lucy Liu and Brandon Flynn were both spotted posing up a storm on the carpet for the charity gala Jessica Capshaw wowed in a white strapless mini dress which she teamed with a pair of pointed heels Nicole is currently performing in Sunset Blvd on Broadway as character Norma Desmond. During her appearance, Nicole said it took her years for people to take her seriously after she was 'put in a box' for years for being in the Pussycat Dolls. She said: 'This is my debut on Broadway which is what I've always dreamed of and it's 30 years in the making of working, preparing and performing. 'I feel so fulfilled to share all my gifts and abilities with the world and connect with people through performing on a deeper and soulful level. 'The dolls only saw me, people pigeon hole you and they put you in a box, so for a long time I wasn't able to audition for films and musicals that I loved. 'I got fed up and six years ago I created my own show where I invited people from the industry and brought it to Broadway and London and LA. It is my passion.' Nicole joked that she almost didn't take the role because it wasn't glamorous enough for her until she properly read the script and 'fell madly in love' with the role. She said: 'I didn't not almost take it, just when I got asked to take it I was like this is your big idea an old faded film star, honey I'm a Pussycat Doll and I have big lights. 'But he said read the script and I felt like I completely understand Norma, we all have layers. The role is so deep and the music made me fall madly in love with it.' Nicole admitted she has 'grown' and 'evolved' as a performer since playing Norma and she is 'proud' of how far she has come. She added: 'I've always had big balls and they are the biggest they have ever been now and I've grown so much because you are completely vulnerable out there. 'You have no sets and costumes to hide behind and you can really connect on a soulful level and I've evolved so much as an actor and I'm very proud and courage.' This year marks Nicole's first Tony Award nod for her role as Norma Desmond in Sunset Blvd. Other nominees include Audra McDonald for Gypsy, Megan Hilty for Death Becomes Her, Jasmine Amy Rogers for Boop! The Musica , and Jennifer Simard for Death Becomes Her, in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical.
