Edinburgh man's touching tribute for best pal after his unexpected death at 38
An Edinburgh man has reached his fundraising target as he prepares to take on a gruelling charity in memory of his friend who passed away almost seven-months-ago.
Joseph Coghill, 40, from Morningside will be embarking on a 200-mile walk to raise funds for charities close to his late friends heart - DJ Jackmaster.
Jack Revill was in an Ibiza hospital for two days before his death at the age of 38 back in October. He suffered an accidental head injury, with his family sharing an emotional post on Instagram.

Seven months later, Joseph described Jack as a man with a 'heart of gold who would do anything to help anyone'.
In 2022, Jack completed the Edinburgh Half Marathon - raising funds for We Are With You - an organisation that helps people affected by drugs, alcohol and mental health problems, as well as Endometriosis UK. Now, Joseph will be raising funds for the same charities in his honour.
Embarking on the journey on June 12, the 40-year-old has gone sober and gave up drugs and alcohol after his friends death.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Joseph said: "Jack was a huge part of my self-belief and my career. When I met him, I was working in Glasgow and jack knew he was always going to be a DJ - he had the confidence, the swagger and the full package really.
"It's been around seven months since he died and it's awfully sad what happened. I am actually sober - I don't drink or do drugs anymore since he died. I still have a sense of anxiety and sadness but I am trying to use that energy to do something positive.
"I am just trying to remember his life and not focus too much on the negative things. He was so fun and charming - he had a real heart of gold.
"He was so generous and if you needed something he would always be there to help you."

With a week to go, Joseph has raised around £13,000 for the charities.
He added: "I am so happy that I have been able to raise a substantial amount of money - I am still fundraising because I haven't left yet.
"It's so incredible, but I think I will be able to raise more. It's definitely been a lot of hard work on my end with the training and things but I am super amazed that I have been able to make this point

"I am excited to get going now because I have been training for six months. I am a bit nervous but I know I am physically ready for this."
Joseph is giving himself around two weeks to get to Glastonbury in Pilton, Somerset.

James Patterson says latest release may be 'the most important book I've done by far'
James Patterson doesn't need any more money. He's the first to admit it. "I really don't," he says. "That's not why I wrote this book." The new book in question from the prolific gagillion-selling author of thrillers (OK, for the record, it's 319 books written and 450 million copies sold worldwide) is in fact not only a labor of love, but also a love letter to fellow fathers. "The #1 Dad Book: Be the Best Dad You Can Be – In 1 Hour!," out May 12 ($25, Little, Brown and Company), sounds a bit like it got its title from a late night infomercial. But there is some truth in that bold advertising. The slim volume actually can be read in about 60 minutes (that's what the "1 Hour" in the title refers to) and features short chapters with titles such as "Be Consistent, Consistently," a litany of dad-experience quotes from friends ("Sometimes you have to let them sink to learn how to swim"), and a breezy voice that eschews hectoring for cajoling ("You've probably figured out that not everyone is in love with the sound of your voice," Patterson writes. "But guess what? Your baby is.") For Patterson, proud father with wife Susan to son, Jack, 27, the book was a way to help guys who "just don't know how to talk about such things with other guys, but they need someone to talk to and I just figured I'd offer some advice, that's all." The Essentials: James Patterson spills his writing must-haves The author's own father might have benefited from this book, Patterson says. "The only time I got a hug from my father was on his death bed," Patterson tells USA TODAY. "That was just the era. He grew up in a poor house, he didn't have a father, didn't know how to be a father. He was a good guy in his own way, but you talk about distance. Anyway, that's still an issue for some dads today; dads who can't say I love you and don't hug." "The #1 Dad Book" tackles hugs, of course. In the chapter "You're Not A Hugger? You Will Be in a Minute," Patterson relates the short story of visiting a friend with two hulking football player sons. When the kids started to head out the door, their father called them back saying, "Where do you think you two are going?" And he gave them hugs. "And that's when that routine became a part of my life, and Jack's, because every night he got a hug," says Patterson, smiling. "Jack's a good kid, he calls us every day." Likely many fathers and fathers-to-be will recognize some familiar themes in the book. A few that Patterson highlights include being truly present (don't talk to your kid while you, or they, are half-looking at a phone) and growing up. Fast. In the chapter called "Tattoo This Behind Your Eyeballs," Patterson is blunt with dads. "We're pals now, right? So you can take it when I give you some bad news," he writes. "It's time to grow ... No more BASE jumping, no more treks to Burning Man, no more swimming with sharks," no more beer league softball tournaments or all-day golf outings (this from Patterson, an avid golfer). "It's just hugely important, because you're taking on a big new responsibility and you have to step up," Patterson says. "And hopefully you're cool with it." Patterson also encourages men to seek out male friends who are willing to talk about dad issues, instead of "just what's going on with the local sports team." He notes that these days, "it's often women that are the primary bread winners, and some guys are just lost as a result, they don't know what their role is, and sometimes there's a lot of anger which is not useful for anyone." So is there any advice he's doling out in "The #1 Dad Book" that he wishes he'd gotten years ago upon entering his first fatherhood years? Patterson mulls a bit. Turns out, for him it was paying closer attention to Jack. "I was always home and around for him, but I could have been more present," he says, noting that while he was writing at home he often was lost in his projects. "I was there, but I wasn't ... I could have done more trips I didn't want to do, like going to the Galapagos, things like that. I'm not big on it, but Jack, he would have liked that." With this book, which Patterson says cryptically he "won't make money on, they way I've structured it," he's hoping that perhaps wives and daughters will pick one up for "husbands and fathers and maybe those two knuckle-headed brothers." Patterson leans back in his office chair. "This honestly could be the most important book I've done by far," he says. "It doesn't matter if someone reads an Alex Cross book. I mean, of course it's nice, but you know." Then almost as a challenge to dads everywhere, he adds: "It's one hour, dude. One hour ... you can't improve your golf game in an hour but here, maybe you can learn a few things in that short amount of time that will make you a little bit better father, or partner. And that's a good thing." This article originally appeared on USA TODAY: 'The #1 Dad Book' is James Patterson's salute and challenge to fathers

Days of our Lives Spoilers June 5: Jennifer and Jack Face a Shocking Reunion
Days of our Lives spoilers for Thursday, June 5, welcome back Jennifer and Jack, while Gabi doesn't feel too welcome back in Ari's life. John's (Drake Hogysten) death triggered many tears, but it also triggered the return of Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and Jack (Matthew Ashford). How will they feel when they learn that their son-in-law and father of their grandchildren, Chad (Billy Flynn), is going out on a date with Cat (AnnaMarie McCord), the woman who lied and pretended to be their late daughter, Abigail (Marci Miller), to the point where she almost married Chad — so she could kill him and inherit his money? Chad has gotten over it. After all, she did it for her mother and her sister and her brother and… well, she has all the excuses. But Jennifer and Jack are likely to be less charmed… or convinced. MORE: Greg Vaughn talks emotional moments on DAYS. Ari (Marissa Reyes) left Salem and her mom to live with her dads as a little girl. Now she's back — and she's all grown up. Or, at least, she thinks she is. She thinks she's old enough to sneak out of the house and spend the night with Doug (Peyton Meyer), whom she picked up in a bar (where she's not enough to drink yet, though the show made a point of reminding us she was 18 and, at least, legal). She also thinks she's too old to have her mom lecture her about it — or about anything, actually. But does Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) seem like the type to give in to her kids' tantrums? Tate (Leo Howard) is sad about his Grandpa John's death. Holly (Ashley Puzemis) comforts him. Which means she isn't there to teach Doug poetry. Doug has other things on his mind, anyway. He still wants to find the necklace he stole from Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes). Maybe Leo (Greg Rikaart) can help him? Leo does think he's a crack investigative reporter.

Days of Our Lives Recap: How Does Cat Know Sami? originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: The Spectator: Chad arrives as Leo works on John Black's obituary. Leo suddenly remembers today is the day of Chad's skydiving date with Cat. He is terrified which sends Leo into one of his stories, which does Chad no good. They discuss the feelings Cat had for Chad and Leo wonders if she's still holding on to hope. He suggests Chad cancel the date for both their sakes. Leo is on the phone with the copy editor talking about the integrity of his work when Jack walks in and gets snarky. Leo says a lot has changed since Jack has been gone. He is now a legitimate journalist. Jack knows and says Leo is doing a good job with his work. Leo is thrilled by the compliment and Jack notes he is quite the asset to the paper. The mood changes when Jack says Leo's mother must be proud. Jack knows Diana has changed so much since she sold him The Spectator. Leo stops him as he remembers Jack blackmailed his mother into the 'sale.' Jack smiles as he knows Leo speaks the truth. He wonders if Diana knows her son is a reporter at the paper which was once hers. Leo thought about going by the prison to tell his mother about John but can't deal with the drama and abuse. Jack recalls Diana making him think John was his father. Leo says he should have known a man like John couldn't have been his father. Jack says they are not defined by their parents. It takes courage to change, and Jack says he has it in droves. Leo thanks Jack for his kind words. Before he leaves, he asks if Jack has heard from Gwen. They both admit they haven't, and Jack seems genuinely pained she is still in the wind. Leo leaves a message for Marlena to say how sorry he is about John's passing. Just then, young Douglas arrives. Leo says he's had no time to track down Julie's necklace. Doug says he's had no luck with Melinda. That being said, the necklace is the least of his problems as his life is imploding. Hernandez House: Gabi finds a distraught Arianna Grace not eating her food. She just can't get over the death of her Grandpa John. She just saw her dad who is not thrilled with her living under the same roof as Leo Stark. Arianna goes on to say how strange and kind of sweet it is that Leo keeps giving her Celine Dion cds, as if she ever owned a cd player. Gabi just thinks he is trying to make an effort. Gabi brings up her daughter's disappearing act and the two begin to fight. Just then, Rafe returns and embraces his niece. Rafe has returned early from FBI training to attend John's funeral. Arianna Grace leaves and Gabi fills Rafe in on her daughter's shenanigans. He thinks she's making a mountain out of a mole hill. Gabi worries she no longer knows her own daughter. With that, Rafe embraces his sister. They switch to talking about Rafe's new job which leads him to mention the stolen memory stick. He reminds his sister that the memory stick would most likely reveal EJ's shooter. Gabi thinks it's obvious Leo is the culprit. Rafe wonders what Leo has to gain from stealing the memory stick. Gabi thinks it's obviously a tool for blackmail. Rafe gets it but wonders why he isn't using it and is still pointing the finger at her. He thinks Leo is actually telling the truth, especially since he now fancies himself an investigative reporter. Gabi admits he probably couldn't pass up revealing the shooter in print. Rafe thinks it's time for him to tell Jada about the memory stick. Gabi worries he's not ready for that confrontation. He says this evidence is way more important than their relationship issues. He asks Gabi if she is 100% certain there is nothing that would incriminate her on the memory stick. Brady Pub: Young Douglas is on the phone with the loan shark goons because he has missed two payments. Just then, Holly arrives followed by Arianna Grace. Doug freaks out and heads back behind the bar. Arianna heads to the bar to get flirty with Doug when Holly approaches and hugs Arianna. Doug freaks out a bit as he realizes the two women in his life are very familiar with one another. Arianna Grace explains she returned home recently which turned out to be good timing as her grandfather just passed away. Holly freaks out when she realizes she's talking about John. Very quickly, she excuses herself and makes her exit. Young Douglas makes the connection in Holly and Arianna Grace's ages and questions how they met in a bar. She says she has a fake idea and then he nervously makes sure she is actually of legal age. He heaves a sigh of relief when he learns they slept together the night of her birthday. She says she would really like to see him again and Doug is totally on board. Outside, someone takes a picture of their encounter. With that, she makes her exit and Doug takes a 30-minute break. Marlena and John's Penthouse: Tate answers the door and doesn't recognize Cat. She introduces herself as Marlena's assistant. He knows all about her as Aaron is his bestie. She tries to explain but Tate says it's water under the bridge. Cat says how wonderful Marlena has been to her and wants to show her support. Just then, she sees a picture of Samantha Gene and notes just how familiar she seems. Cat crosses to the photograph and Tate says she is his Aunt Sami. Cat says maybe she just reminds her of someone else. She then sees a picture of John and she says they were in Poplar Bluff at the same time. She always wanted to thank him for helping with their mother and grandmother's escape. Tate notes he was a hero to a lot of people. Tate gets choked up and excuses himself. Left alone, Cat pulls the picture of John off the mantle and says how sorry she is. Tate is looking at a picture of his grandfather when Holly arrives. She says she just heard and embraces him. Holly wanted to make certain he was ok as she still cares about him. Tate is confused as he thought she was pretty cozy with young Douglas. Holly says they are just friends. He apologizes for what he did to Doug and says he misses her. Holly says his father sort of told her the same. The truth is she really missed him, too. Just then, Tate gets a text from Sophia who is on her way over. Horton House: Julie is ordering flowers or Marlea when Jack and Jennifer Rose arrive home. She embraces them both but wishes they hadn't returned for another sad occasion. Jack notes they have some good news to celebrate, and they discuss Bo's recovery. Jack decides to run over to The Spectator and heads out. Julie and Jennifer Rose take a seat. JRo asks how she's doing. Julie says her grief counseling with Marlena was going well until her wedding anniversary rolled around and Bo was dying and now, they've lost John. She has now begun to feel the grief all over again. JRo wants to support her, and Julie says how grateful she is for their arrival. Julie and JRo catch up on young Douglas and how she kicked him out. Julie says Doug was no angel himself, but he never lied to her. They chat about the necklace and JRo says she is using all of her contacts to try and locate the necklace. Just then, Julie gets a notification and says she promised Marlena she would pick up her dry cleaning before the funeral. She hates to leave JRo and says Chad will be home soon if he survived his skydiving date with Cat. JRo is rightfully surprised and annoyed by this turn of events. Horton Square: Cat and Chad meet up. She doesn't want him to do anything with which he is uncomfortable and is cool if he wants to back out. Chad says he is totally in as he thinks they should do something every day that scares them. They get all kinds of adorably cute with one another as they prepare to make the jump. Kat says after her accident she was in a deep depression and going skydiving made her feel alive again (I had totally forgotten about the accident. I wonder if that's the connection to Sami). Endings Tate apologizes saying they have a labor and delivery tour at the hospital. He asks Holly if they could continue their conversation another time. She agrees and they exchange kind words before she exits. Young Douglas tells Leo everything about Arianna Grace and Holly, as well as the loan shark who continues to harass him. Leo gets real and says he can pursue two women at the same time as long as they don't find out. Further, he needs to find a way to make some quick money as loan sharks are no joke. A photographer watches Arianna Grace and continues to take pictures. Gabi admits to going to the DiMera estate the night of the shooting but promises she didn't even see EJ that night. She only heard him arguing with someone. She wonders if the shooter actually broke into their home and took the evidence. Cat says they should head over to the airfield but Chad is stuck, until she pulls him away. Jennier Rose is furious about the Cat and Chad situation when Jack returns. Keep checking back for the latest Days of Our Lives recaps! This story was originally reported by Daytime Confidential on Jun 6, 2025, where it first appeared.
