Station name mix-up causes confusion in Namma Metro Yellow Line service
At the Electronic City Metro Station, the signage reads Infosys Foundation – Konappana Agrahara, while the actual Konappana Agrahara Metro Station is labeled as Electronic City. This swap of station names is causing significant confusion among passengers who are unsure where to board or alight.
The problem has led to ticketing mix-ups. Passengers bound for Electronic City must buy tickets for Konappana Agrahara, and vice versa. Commuters say the issue is compounded by mismatched names between the Metro stations and nearby BMTC bus stops, further adding to the chaos.
While the Yellow Line has cut travel time between points on the route to just 30 minutes, passengers say the mix-up between Electronic City and Infosys Foundation – Konappana Agrahara should be corrected immediately to prevent long-term inconvenience.
Meanwhile, in Hebbal, Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje has written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking approval for 45 acres of land for BMRCL. She pointed out that the KIADB had earlier issued a notice to a private firm holding the land to compensate the original landowners. This could strengthen the private company's hold on the property, potentially affecting the planned Metro depot, multi-modal hub, parking facilities, and other infrastructure in the area.

Mumbai: Catching a flight from Terminal 2 just got easier. A newly constructed 100-metre Foot Over Bridge (FOB) now links the CSMIA–T2 Metro Station on Line 3 directly to the airport terminal, allowing passengers to skip road traffic and walk straight from the Metro to the check-in counters. Built 23 metres above ground with strong structural steel, the bridge connects Lift Entry/Exit A1 of the Metro station at ground level directly into the terminal building. The 4.3-metre-wide and 3-metre-high structure sits above the ongoing Metro Line 7A station works, ensuring faster, safer, and seamless transfer for air travellers. "100-metre-long FOB to CSMIAirport T2 from underground Metro 3 station is opened. This facilitates much-needed last-mile connectivity to Mumbai Airport from the Metro station. Passengers no longer need to negotiate busy road crossings, and those carrying luggage will find the connection much easier. The spokesperson added that the construction posed significant challenges as the bridge had to be built high above the ongoing underground Metro works. On July 28, senior officials from the BMC, MMRCL, MMRDA, and Indian Railways met at the civic headquarters to discuss ways of improving last-mile connectivity. The discussions centred on integrating pedestrian infrastructure with the city's expanding underground transit system. One of the first integration projects in the pipeline is a 1-km pedestrian subway linking Acharya Atre Chowk Metro station to the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and the Coastal Road's parking facility at Haji Ali. A 160-metre arm is also planned to connect to nearby open spaces. BMC and MMRCL have already been working on the alignment since June. A senior official added that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared in the next four months, with the vision of connecting high-density commercial hubs within a 500-m to 1-km radius. Equipped with escalators and elevators, these will be accessible for all commuters. Metro Line 3, also called the Aqua Line, is Mumbai's first fully underground Metro corridor. Karnataka government allocated Rs 96K crore for guarantees: CM Siddaramaiah
BENGALURU: Expressing concern over 10% of the rich holding 80% of the nation's wealth, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here on Friday said the state government's ambitious five guarantee schemes were envisioned to bridge such disparity. In his Independence Day speech after hoisting the national flag on 79th Independence Day celebrations at Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground here, he said the state has allocated Rs 96,000 crore for Anna Bhagya, Shakti, Gruha Lakshmi, Gruha Jyothi and Yuva Nidhi schemes. 'United Nations General Assembly President Philemon Yang too has praised the schemes,' he said. 'To bridge the wealth gap, guarantees and other welfare programmes were introduced. The schemes have led to an increase in per capita income, and studies have indicated that women's workforce participation has increased by 23%,' he added. The state is spending Rs 1.12 lakh crore on welfare measures, including guarantees. 'Karnataka is 1st in per capita income, and in the past decade, it has achieved a growth of 101%. It is already India's IT capital, and it is now stepping forward to become the world's Capital of Innovation. The state attracts the second highest foreign direct investment in the country,' he pointed out. In all, 44,166 acres in 18 industrial areas have been declared special investment regions, and investors have expressed interest in bringing investments of Rs 10 lakh crore, he said. Rs 65,000 crore has been allocated to the education sector, while steps are being taken to bring a comprehensive State Education Policy, he said. He said, 'The Platform-based Gig Workers Bill which covers 5 lakh gig workers will be implemented. An insurance cover of Rs 4 lakh will be given to these workers.' He said, 'The state has made significant achievements in the services sector, which contributes 66.7% to our Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).'

CM Siddaramaiah to launch infra projects in Belagavi next month: Minister Jarkiholi
Advt District minister Satish Jarkiholi announced that chief minister Siddaramaiah will lay the foundation stone for several key infrastructure projects in Belagavi next month. These include a Rs 200 crore flyover, a Rs 55 crore deputy commissioner's office complex, and a Rs 10 crore Patrika Bhavan for the media media persons on Friday, Jarkiholi detailed the scope of the flyover project, which will span 4.5 km from Sankam Hotel in Gandhi Nagar to Bogarves, passing through Ashok Circle, RTO Circle, Channamma Circle, and College Road. "The new DC's office will preserve heritage structures, while non-heritage buildings will be demolished. Additionally, a three-storey Patrika Bhavan will be constructed at Jadhav Nagar," he commissioner Mohammad Roshan presented detailed plans and maps of the proposed projects to the media. Jarkiholi also highlighted the urgent need for a new district stadium, as the existing facility will soon revert to the KLE Society upon completion of its lease period. "The new stadium will be built near Kanabaragi, with Rs 20 crore sanctioned in the first phase. We aim to have it ready by next Independence Day," he minister confirmed that CM Siddaramaiah will not only launch new projects but also inaugurate several completed ones, including those initiated during his previous tenure. Regarding the development of the Renuka Yallamma temple in Savadatti, Jarkiholi said the state govt has already sanctioned ₹215 crore for its comprehensive development. Tourism minister HK Patil is overseeing the progress of the project.
