All the offenders were men and will be produced before the court. Miyapur recorded the highest number of drunk driving cases, booking 53 individuals followed by Alwal with 43 cases and Jeedimetla with 41. On the other end of the spectrum, Raidurgam reported just 11 cases, while Madhapur, Rajendra Nagar, Gachibowli, and Narsingi each recorded fewer than 20 offenders.
In terms of age distribution, the majority of offenders were in the 21–30 and 31–40 age brackets, with 169 and 168 cases respectively. This was followed by 80 cases in the 41–50 age group, and 26 in the 51–60 range. Only two offenders were aged above 60, and none were reported under 18.
An analysis of Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels revealed that 183 individuals had BAC readings between 51–100 mg per 100 ml of blood, while 99 fell in the 101–150 mg range. A total of 52 had readings between 151–200 mg, and 85 were recorded with BAC below 50 mg. More concerning were the 35 individuals who had BAC levels above 200 mg and 18 between 201–300 mg, and 17 above 300 mg.
The police warned that driving under the influence is a serious offence, warning that if any inebriated motorist causes a fatal accident, they will be charged under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which treats such cases as culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The maximum punishment under this section is ten years' imprisonment along with a fine.

Driver arrested for harassing lady boss in Coimbatore
1 2 Coimbatore: A 27-year-old driver was arrested on Saturday for threatening and harassing a woman, who was his employer. The Kuniyamuthur police identified the arrested person as S Sameer, of Arivozhi Nagar near Kovaipudur in the city. According to a police officer, Sameer was recently hired as a driver by a 39-year-old woman from Kovaipudur who had attached her car to an app-based taxi service. "Two days ago, Sameer did not show up for work. When the car owner called him, he said his phone was not working and requested her to arrange for an alternate phone." The woman gave him her old mobile phone after deleting all personal data, the officer said. "On Friday night, Sameer called the woman and claimed that he had seen private pictures of her on the phone she had given him. Following this, she asked him to return her mobile phone. Sameer visited her house the same night and threatened her by saying that he had seen her private pictures," the officer said. Since her husband was not at home, the woman, with the help of neighbors, informed police about the incident and formally lodged a complaint with the Kuniyamuthur police on Saturday. Police registered a case against Sameer under sections 296 (b), 77 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act and arrested him. Woman molested in road rage, 13 booked
Ahmedabad: A minor road accident in Nikol on Rakshabandhan (Aug 9) night spiralled into violence, with a woman allegedly molested and injured. The incident occurred around 8.30pm near Nikol Raspan Crossroads when a family's car collided with a scooter rider. According to the complaint, the family — a man, his wife, and two children — tried to leave to avoid confrontation, but the scooter riders followed them to Bhakti Circle and began banging on the car. One rider allegedly smashed the windshield, injuring the woman inside, and then tried to pull her T-shirt and in the process tore it. The complainant said more people joined the alleged attackers, assaulting the family despite complainant's brother arriving to help. 4 held for firewood merchant's murder in Hafeezpet
Hyderabad: Four persons have been arrested for their alleged role in the murder of a firewood merchant near the Hafeezpet railway station on Sunday afternoon. The victim, Srinivasulu alias Srinu, 42, was running a firewood outlet near the railway station for the past five years. Police said that Srinivasulu's business was profitable, and neighbouring shopkeeper SK Moiz, 45, was jealous of Srinu's growing business. "Moiz was upset with his relatively low sales and conspired to eliminate Srinivasulu so that he could take over his business and rake in profits," the Miyapur police said.
