Ram Temple
has used 45 kilograms of
pure gold
in its construction, Ram Temple Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Mishra said on Friday. This follows the consecration of the Ram Darbar on the temple's first floor, held a day earlier. The gold, valued at around Rs 50 crore before taxes, is mainly in the temple doors on the ground floor and the throne of Lord Ram. Mishra also mentioned that gold work continues in the Sheshavatar Temple within the complex.

While the main Ram Temple structure is complete, other parts of the complex—including a museum, auditorium, and guest house—are still being built. These facilities are expected to be finished by December 2025.
Mishra said that after the Ram Darbar's consecration, arrangements are underway to allow limited, controlled access for devotees. Entry will require passes, which the trust will issue free of cost.

official clarified that the Ram Darbar is not yet open to the general public. Mishra said the trust will finalise a plan for public access in an upcoming meeting. For now, only a limited number of devotees will be allowed to visit the Ram Darbar, and entry will be regulated through passes, which will be issued free of cost.
Thursday's ceremony was the second major event at the Ram Temple, following the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol on January 22 last year, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries.

Champat Rai, Secretary of the Ram Temple Trust, said the consecration of seven idols was completed on Thursday. The idols placed on the first floor above the sanctum sanctorum include:
Ram Darbar in the middle
Shivalinga in the northeastern corner
Ganapati idol in the southeastern corner
Hanumana idol in the middle of the southern side
Surya in the southwestern corner
Bhagwati in the northwestern corner
Annapurna Mata in the middle of the northern side
Devotees face challenges in summer heat
Many devotees have found it difficult to visit the temple due to the intense summer heat and limited shade on the path. Ramji Mishra, a devotee from Basti district, said, 'The path to the sanctum is very long, and the stones placed on the walkway become scorching hot under the sun. I used to visit Ayodhya before the grand temple was built, and back then the path to see Lord Ram was shorter and more comfortable. Now, the stones are so hot during the day they can cause blisters.'
His companion, Sudhakar Tiwari, added, 'Although the temple trust has placed red mats over parts of the path, many of them have torn and become dangerously hot. It's best to wear thick socks while visiting the temple in this weather.'

444 services unavailable on ‘aaple sarkar' portal despite digital push
1 2 3 4 5 Pune: Even though state govt continues to promote digitisation and time-bound delivery of public services under the Maharashtra Right to Public Service Act, 2015, a significant chunk — over 400 notified facilities — are yet to come on 'aaple sarkar RTS portal', data shows. Of the 1,027 services notified under the Act across 29 departments, only 583 are currently available online. The remaining 444 services continue to operate offline, defeating the very purpose of a seamless, transparent, and paperless system promised to people, officials said. Among the departments that are yet to completely switch to digital mode are animal husbandry, medical education and drugs, education, Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, state excise, and transport. "The deadline to digitise all notified services is Aug 15. However, we have urged all departments to speed up the process and integrate the services with the portal as soon as possible. Otherwise the services delivery cannot be tracked," a senior govt official said. Another official said people can either submit their application sitting at home or use the 40000 seva kendras across the state. MU revokes paid maternity leave for guest faculty and temporary staff
Mangaluru: In a cost-cutting move, Mangalore University (MU) has revoked paid maternity leave for guest faculty and temporary non-teaching staff. The syndicate granted four months of paid leave in July 2022, but the benefit was discontinued last month without alternative provisions. Judith Mendonca, a syndicate member who proposed scrapping the policy, stated that guest faculty working under MU are paid a substantial amount of compensation compared to other state universities in Karnataka. The monthly salary is around Rs 40,000. Despite paying such a huge amount, their workload is minimal. There are guest faculty appointed for courses with fewer than 10 students. They have a maximum of three hours of work per day. In this scenario, it is an absolute financial burden on MU to offer the temporary staff such benefits. Therefore, MU has decided to withdraw and scrap the rule from May 2025 with immediate effect," explained Mendonca. The decision to offer paid maternity leave was taken after former syndicate member Ramesh K tabled the proposal. He informed that one of the guest faculty working in Kodagu district, which was earlier under MU, requested that all women guest lecturers be considered for paid maternity leave. No guest faculty or temporary staff under MU were eligible for the facility, even though many worked for more than a decade.
