Actor Adrija Roy spoke about her experience on Anupamaa sets, addressed controversies, industry challenges like the casting couch, and her bond with Rupali Ganguly.
Anupamaa has remained a fan-favourite since its debut, not just for its compelling narrative but also for the buzz it generates off-screen. While the show continues to grab attention for its plot twists, it has occasionally found itself embroiled in controversies. Adrija Roy, who plays Anupamaa's lead Rupali Ganguly's on-screen daughter, shared her perspective on the chatter surrounding the show, her camaraderie with the latter and also dived into industry challenges such as the casting couch.
Adrija Roy spoke about Anupamaa and revealed whether she had faced any difficulties on the sets of the show. She also reflected on its many controversies, and told Pinkvilla, 'Every set has its ups and downs – it's like a family, right?" She added, 'There can be misunderstandings or stress due to tight schedules, but for me personally, nothing major or controversial. I've always focused on my work and tried to stay away from unnecessary noise. My experience so far has been more of learning and growth."
Having been part of several television shows, including popular Bengali serials, Adrija also spoke about the harsh realities actors face in their early days. On the topic of the casting couch, she didn't shy away from the truth. 'Yes, the journey hasn't been a bed of roses. It's a real issue, and I truly hope the industry continues to evolve into a safer space for everyone," she said.
Despite the tense mother-daughter relationship her character shares with Rupali Ganguly's in Anupamaa, their off-screen dynamic is full of affection. Adrija gushed, 'Oh, she is an absolute gem. She's like my own! From day one, she made me feel so welcome. There's no ego, no senior-junior energy—just warmth and guidance. Over time, our bond has only grown stronger. We laugh, we chat, we even confide in each other. I'm lucky to have her around, both as a co-actor and a friend."
Talking about the pressures of leading a daily soap, Adrija admitted that not every day was smooth sailing. She said there were definitely days when the body felt tired, the mind was overworked, and emotions were all over the place. She shared that during such times, she would talk to her mom, listen to music, or simply take a quiet moment between shots.
Adrija also reiterated that self is was extremely important when one was constantly giving emotionally on-screen, and noted that when it's neglected, the feeling of being overwhelmed often sets in.

Prince Harry Hit This Royal Family Member During An Argument In 2013, Gave Him A Bloody Nose

A new book by Andrew Lownie claimed that Prince Andrew and Harry had a heated argument in 2013 at a family gathering over something "Andrew said behind Harry's back." A new book has revealed that Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, had a heated argument with Prince Harry at a family gathering in 2013 in which 'punches were thrown". The book, called Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, claimed that the two princes got into a physical fight years ago over 'something Andrew said behind Harry's back". The book's author, Andrew Lownie, shed light on the 'problematic" relationship between the Duke of York and his nephews, William and Harry. Excerpts quoted by The Telegraph claimed that Harry 'got the better of Andrew by all accounts" during the alleged fight and left his uncle with a 'bloody nose" before the fight was broken up. Prince Andrew, King Charles' younger brother, who fell from grace over his links to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, is believed to have told Harry that his marriage to Meghan Markle would not 'last more than a month". Furthermore, he allegedly accused his nephew of going 'bonkers" and not doing 'any due diligence into her past" before the pair married in 2018. The source quoted in Lownie's book claimed that Harry later told his brother William that 'he hated Andrew". 'William has long worked behind the scenes to evict his uncle from Royal Lodge, the home he occupies in Windsor Great Park. He thinks Andrew is abusing the property and his privilege there," Lownie wrote. Andrew has been facing the threat of eviction from the 30-room property after the King severed his allowance, estimated to be worth £1m annually, last year, according to The Telegraph. A source in Lownie's book claimed that the Prince of Wales is keen to 'evict" Andrew and his wife from the lavish estate. These revelations came after Harry revealed in his memoir, Spare, that he got into a physical fight with his elder brother over his relationship with Meghan Markle. He claimed that Prince William shoved him to the floor in a physical altercation at Kensington Palace in 2019, when he confronted him over Markle's 'rude" and 'abrasive" behaviour. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
