Delhi CM Rekha Gupta arrives at Kedarnath with her family
Kedarnath (Uttarakhand) [India], June 2 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reached Kedarnath with her family on Monday and offered her prayers.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is on a visit to Uttarakhand with her family following 100 days of the completion of the BJP government in Delhi.
On Sunday, CM Gupta took a holy dip in the River Ganga in Haridwar and vowed to clean Yamuna so that people can take a holy dip in the river.
She met Swami Avdheshanand Giri Maharaj at Harihar Ashram in Haridwar.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said, 'It is a feeling of immense joy. Yesterday, the government completed 100 days of rule in Delhi. Yesterday we did Aarti in Yamuna river and today, after taking a dip in the Ganga, I really feel that the pace of development in Delhi will now pick up more speed. Today, after taking the blessings of Gurujan, I am feeling more powerful within myself. I have a sense of responsibility. Delhi, which has been suffering for many years, now the government, which has come, it is our responsibility to ensure Delhi progresses. I ask for the strength that whatever the aspirations of the people are, I am able to fulfil them.'
'I prayed to God that the way lakhs of devotees come to Haridwar to worship River Ganga, in the same way, River Yamuna can be cleaned so that people can take a holy dip there,' the Delhi CM added.
CM Rekha Gupta, accompanied by her family, visited the Har Ki Pauri ghat in Haridwar and took a holy dip in the Ganga river on Sunday.
After taking a holy dip in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said, 'Taking blessings from Maa Ganga, we will work to make Maa Yamuna clean and beautiful. We will work to speed up the development of Delhi. Taking the blessings of Maa, I feel very satisfied that as the Chief Minister of Delhi, I will be able to do better work for Delhi.'
On Saturday, CM Gupta performed Yamuna Aarti at Vasudev Ghat to mark the completion of 100 days of the BJP government. (ANI)

Year-round action needed to tackle air pollution, says CM
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled an anti-air pollution plan at the Secretariat on Tuesday and underlined the need for continuous, year-round efforts to curb pollution in the national capital. Speaking at a press conference after the launch of the 'Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025', Ms. Gupta said her government is duty-bound to provide clean air to the people of Delhi, emphasising that air pollution has a direct impact on the health and well-being of citizens. 'This plan is not just a document, but a robust road map to protect the health of our citizens in the coming years. It lays the foundation for a clean, green, and healthy Delhi,' she said. Efforts to curb pollution cannot be seasonal and must 'take place all year round, not just for two months', the Chief Minister said while unveiling the plan, promising 'Shuddh hawa sabka adhikar — pradushan par zordar prahar (Clean air everyone's right — decisive strike against pollution)'. Tech-driven approach The multifaceted action plan focuses on eight key areas, combining technological innovation with strict implementation. To combat dust pollution, the government will deploy 200 mechanical road sweepers, 70 electric litter pickers, 38 water tankers, and 20 dump vehicles. Anti-smog guns will be mandatory for all high-rise commercial buildings (above 3,000 sqm). These efforts will be monitoredusing GPS and cameras, with night-time operations planned to avoid traffic disruption. The Chief Minister said that to ensure strict enforcement, an AI-based system will monitor registered construction sites and issue automated notices and penalties for dust violations. SMS alerts will be sent to end-of-life vehicle owners in neighbouringStates to create awareness. EV charging stations To support the shift to electric vehicles (EVs), the government will rapidly expand its EV charging network across commercial hubs, airports, railway stations, bus terminals, and parking sites. Pollution Under Control centres across the city will be upgraded and audited twice a year, Ms. Gupta said. In a push for urban greening, she announced a tree plantation drive under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, as part of which 70 lakh saplings would be planted across the city starting on Wednesday, which marks World Environment Day. From November 1 this year, only BS-VI, CNG, and electric light, medium, and heavy goods vehicles will be permitted entry into Delhi. Ms. Gupta urged citizens to join the campaign and become 'Environment Doots (environment ambassadors)' to make Delhi's air cleaner and healthier. Ms. Gupta clarified that the previousAam Aadmi Party government's odd-even policy would not be implemented as it had caused inconvenience to the public. 'What if a family has only one vehicle at home? We must take decisions keeping in mind the needs and realities of Delhi's citizens,' she said. The government has set a target to completely remove waste at the landfills in Okhla by March 2027, Bhalswa by December 2027, and Ghazipur by September 2028. The existing waste-to-energy plant in Okhla will be expanded from its current capacity of 1,950 tonnes per day (TPD) to 2,950 TPD by March 2027 and a new waste-to-energy plant with a capacity of 3,000 TPD will be set up at Narela-Bawana by November 2028, said the Chief Minister.

‘Hate speech unacceptable': TMC leader Kunal Ghosh after Sharmistha Panoli denied interim bail
Hours after social media influencer Sharmishtha Panoli's interim bail request was denied by the Calcutta high court on Tuesday, Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh said that 'hate speech' of any kind is 'unacceptable'. While speaking about an FIR on Wajahat Khan, the man whose police complaint led to Panoli's arrest, Ghosh clarified his party's stance on the matter. 'This is entirely a legal matter. Our position is very clear — whether it's on social media or in society at large, hate speech of any kind is unacceptable. If anyone engages in it, appropriate legal action must be taken,' he told ANI. Ghosh's remarks come after the Calcutta high court denied interim bail to Sharmistha Panoli citing that freedom of speech does not mean one can hurt some other person's or community's sentiments. 'This video was made on social media, it was heard, and this incident has led to a section of people's sentiments being hurt,' he was quoted as saying by Live Law. Sharmistha Panoli is a social media influencer who was arrested last week over her allegedly communal remarks in a video. The remarks were linked to Operation Sindoor. After facing backlash, Panoli had deleted the post and also issued an apology, however, she was arrested by the West Bengal Police from Haryana's Gurugram last week. Panoli is currently in judicial custody till June 13. Her lawyer, Md Samimuddin, said that the HC has directed the police to produce the case diary so that the "bail hearing can be held on June 5." He added that the high court has directed that no fresh FIR should be filed against Panoli regarding the same case and has also asked authorities to ensure basic amenities are provided to her at the correctional facility.
