Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei calls Israel ‘dog on a leash' of US, threatens ‘bigger blow' to foes

Mint5 hours ago
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has issued a stark warning to the adversaries of the country, declaring that Iranian regime is capable of delivering a 'bigger blow' to its adversaries than what was seen during the recent Iran-Israel conflict.
Referring to Israel as 'dog on a leash' of the United States, Ali Khamenei said the fight against the United States and Benjamin Netanyahu was praiseworthy.
In a statement published on his website, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Israel's attacks during last month's 12-day war were intended to weaken the Islamic republic's system and spark unrest to topple it.
'The calculation and plan of the aggressors was to weaken the system by targeting certain figures and sensitive centres in Iran,' said Khamenei. He said the move was meant to stir 'unrest and bring people into the streets to overthrow the system.'
Targeting the US for aiding Israel in its attacks on the Iranian soil, Khamenei said America is 'an accomplice to Israel's crimes'. Calling Israel a 'cancerous tumour', Khamenei hinted at Iran's readiness to answer back if struck again.
'Iran is capable to give bigger blow to its adversaries than seen in Iran-Israel war. Iran is ready to respond to any renewed military attack,' the Supreme Leader said.

Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei says Israel launched the war to overthrow him

Tehran, July 16 (UNI) Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has claimed that Israael launched the recent 12-day war specifically to sow unrest in his country and uproot the socio-political system in the Islamic Republic, media reports said today. 'The calculation and plan of the aggressors was to weaken the system by targeting certain figures and sensitive centres in Iran,' Khamenei said, further claiming that the attacks were designed to 'stir' the masses, and 'bring people into the streets, and overthrow the system.' The 86-year-old said that the attack's purpose failed, stating 'God Almighty nullified their scheme ... He brought the people into the field in support of the government and the system," reports Times of Israel. Israel however, has denied that it has any interest in a regime change, stating that the destruction of Iran's nuclear programme was its only interest, claiming that they deliberately 'spared' political leaders, and repeatedly have said that if they wanted, they could have killed Khamenei whenever they wanted. While Iran has claimed that its nuclear programme is not intended for weaponisation and is only meant for peaceful uses, international observers such as the IAEA, NSG, WNA, and military observations from different countries have said that the uranium enrichment levels are far above anything needed for any civilian use, though still below what is needed for a nuclear bomb. Stating that Tehran stands ready to deal with any renewed military aggression, Khamenei said that the Islamic Republic is still open to dialogue regarding its nuclear programme. UNI ANV SSP

Mideast crisis: 'We bombed the hell out of Iran,' says Donald Trump; 'they wanna negotiate badly'

US President on Wednesday said that Iran wanted to "negotiate badly" recounting how the States "bombed the hell" of the middle eastern nations during its war with Israel. "They wanna negotiate badly. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now We're in no rush. They should have made a deal, and then we bombed the HELL out of their various places," he said. Last month, Trump had announced a 'complete and total' ceasefire between Iran and Israel, claiming both sides had agreed to end the 12-day conflict. This came after the US sided with Israel and threatened Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei's life and hold on power. Following this, Iran's top Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi issued a fatwa against Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu. The decree labeled them 'mohareb', enemies of God, for threatening Iran's leadership and Islamic unity. Under Iranian law, mohareb can face severe punishments, including execution or banishment.

Watch: TV anchor runs for life mid-telecast after Israel strikes hit Syria's State television in Suwayda

In a dramatic moment, a female TV anchor of the state media in central Damascus was seen fleeing mid-broadcast following an airstrike on Syria's military headquarters by Israel. The video of the incident went viral on social media after Israel Defence Minister Israel Katz shared it on X, writing, 'The painful blows have begun.' In the video, Katz stated the attack underscores Israel's intent to continue military pressure as long as Syrian forces withdraw from Suwayda – the Druze-majority region in southern Syria. Though a few media outlets claimed that the Israeli strikes targeted a Syrian state-run TV channel, Israel-based ILTV denied it, stating the Syrian TV anchor reacted to strikes on the defence ministry and Syrian army headquarters. Later Israel Katz issued a stern warning on social media. He took to X and wrote, "The warnings in Damascus have ended - now painful blows will come. The IDF will continue to operate forcefully in Suwayda to destroy the forces that attacked the Druze until their complete withdrawal." "Our Druze brothers in Israel, you can rely on the Israel Defense Forces to protect your brothers in Syria. Prime Minister Netanyahu and I, as Minister of Defense, have made a commitment - and we will uphold it," he added. Recently, Israel has started intervening in the ongoing clashes in Suwayda (also called Sweida) after fighting has broken out between the minority Druze community and various armed groups. Katz has assured the Druze community in Israel that the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) will act to protect their counterparts in Syria. Israel had launched a series of powerful strikes on central Damascus, reported Reuters, adding that a thick smoke engulfed the city and a dense plume rose from the defence ministry. The report added that dozens have been killed this week in clashes around the southern city of Suwayda, as Druze fighters are fighting against government forces and Bedouin tribal members. In its response, Israel has launched repeated strikes and stated that it is being done to protect the Druze community.
