Demi Moore reveals which role left her 'absolutely terrified' years before full-frontal Striptease nudity

Daily Mail24-04-2025

Demi Moore has revealed her most terrifying role years before she shocked fans by going fully naked in Striptease.
The actress, 61, who recently broke her silence on missing out on an Oscar for The Substance, said her breakout role on General Hospital when she was just 19 in 1982 was the first moment she realized her acting dream could come true.
Moore played journalist Jackie Templeton on the show from 1982-1983 and the following year she shot to film fame in Blame It On Rio, followed by acclaimed turns in St. Elmo's Fire and in 1986's About Last Night.
She told People after being named the World's Most Beautiful Person: 'I think the first big moment that kind of gave me a little bit of encouragement of, wow, this could be possible, is when I got General Hospital because it was a real job on a show that was successful for a soap opera.
'In fact, it was at a heightened state because Elizabeth Taylor had just been a guest on a soap opera. And literally it was a month before my 19th birthday. And so it was like a real job where I was going to be paid and have an actual salary. Meaning that I didn't have to have another job. I could actually live by doing this thing that I loved and hoped I could do. So that was like the first moment to really kick it off.'
'You know, I just was so excited for all of it. But if I'm looking at this photo, I think I was probably a little terrified also.'
Moore hasn't shied away from a full frontal nude scene - from playing a dancer in Striptease in 1996 to a 17th century Puritan in The Scarlet Letter in 1995.
She's posed for her fair share of nude magazine covers too.
Moore appeared on the cover of the January 1981 issue of the adult magazine Oui, taken from a photo session in which she had posed completely naked.
In August 1991, Moore appeared nude on the cover of Vanity Fair seven months pregnant with the second of her three daughters.
The following year, Moore again appeared nude on the cover of Vanity Fair, this time modeling under the title Demi's Birthday Suit.
Most recently, she posed nude on the cover of Harper's Bazaar in October 2019.
Speaking on her nude scenes in an interview with Variety on Tuesday she said: 'One of the biggest misconceptions about me is that I loved my body.
'The reality is, so much of it was me calling in certain projects that would give me an opportunity to help me overcome insecurities about my body.
'It was the same with the Vanity Fair covers; it was not that I loved it — it was about trying to free myself from the space of enslavement that I had put myself in.'
Moore recently opened up about her gut-wrenching Best Actress loss — and whether she still believes there's a shot at Oscar gold down the line.
The Hollywood legend, who recently spoke out about ex-husband Bruce Willis ' battle with dementia, was widely expected to take home her first Academy Award for The Substance.
Instead, the honor went to 26-year-old breakout star Mikey Madison for her gripping performance in Anora.
It marked Demi's first real shot at the golden statue after a blockbuster career that saw her rise from Brat Pack royalty to become the highest-paid actress in Hollywood.
Now, just two months after the emotional night, Demi is reflecting on it all — and setting the record straight about how she really feels.
'I really had the pleasure of getting to know Mikey Madison and think that she did an incredible performance,' Demi began in her candid conversation with Time on Wednesday. 'And really, it's an odd thing for there to be a competition anyway. But if I had won, it would've been a completion to what had started.'
As for the possibility of another shot at Oscar glory, Demi didn't rule it out.
'That would be nice,' she quipped.
Later, she added, 'I can't say I would be mad at it. The question is should I have won is really maybe certainly not the perspective of how I hold it because I didn't, and I really do subscribe to this idea that everything in life is happening for me, not to me.
'When I look at it through that lens, it allows me to step back and say, "What is this trying to give me?" And in that moment there was a lot was being projected that I would win, and so of course there's disappointment.
'I also immediately recognize that there is something that is greater that I am to be in service to, even if I don't know what that is, if there is a reason.'
In an earlier interview with Time, Demi c onfessed she had a feeling she'd lose to Mikey — even before the envelopes were opened.
'I don't know why I knew, but I did,' the actress said.

Fraserburgh Junior Arts Society: The group backed by Judi Dench that 'means so much to so many'

Driven by a unified passion for theatre Fraserburgh Junior Arts Society has been at the heart of the local community for more than 70 years. With the youngest member only six-years-old and the oldest 93, generations combine to bring the magic of stage to the Broch. Supporters of Fraserburgh Junior Arts Society (FJAS) include King Charles, legendary Oscar winning actor Dame Judi Dench and Joanna Lumley. Dame Judi's donation helped fund a sign that shines a beacon for arts and creativity through the streets of Fraserburgh town centre. Their latest production is an ambitious performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Fraserburgh Leisure Centre – complete with stunning glass elevator. Their rendition of the classic Roald Dahl novel also contains unique Oompa-Loompa's. Show producer Lewis Platt said: 'Fraserburgh Junior Arts Society means so much to so many people and we are very proud of the organisation. 'We are fully self-funded and rely on the goodness of people buying tickets for our shows. 'We have support from the King, Dame Judi Dench, Joanna Lumley and the Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire. 'A donation from Dame Judi was used to buy a big Junior Arts logo for our 70th jubilee. 'Our logo sits above the Leisure Centre building and when it is on at night it lights up and shines right up the Broch. 'When you come down from Broadgate you can see our sign which is amazing.' Rising talent Caleb Patterson plays Charlie Bucket who visits the wonderful factory of eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka, played by Craig Roger. First published in 1964 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory focuses on the adventure of 10-year-old Charlie and his grandpa Joe (Joss Duthie). In the irreverent, darkly comic children's novel Charlie wins a golden ticket to tour the magical chocolate factory. Timeless characters also include Augustus Gloop (Joss Maclaren), Veruca Salt (Eden Park), Violet Beauregarde (Zoe Burnett) and Mike Teavee (Ethan Doutre). FJAS's production also has unique Oompa-Loompas that are the result of tireless work from the costume design team. Lewis, who is also president of FJAS, said: 'We have a cast of 48 with our youngest member Caleb Patterson who is 12-years-old and plays Charlie Bucket. 'Caleb had never done anything with junior arts before but came to auditions in January and blew us away. 'He is great to work with and his singing voice is beautiful. 'We purchased a unique glass elevator that has come up from London and glows. 'It will fly about the stage. 'Our Oompa-Loompas are quite unique as they all have specialised costumes made for them. 'All the costumes are made of foam and are boxed out to make them look smaller and dumpier than they are . 'Our costume ladies Wendy Simpson and Doreen Gibson sat for many hours with their team cutting out foam, lining it and putting costumes into it. 'There are four different types of Oompas for different parts of the factory. 'When you see the workers in the chocolate room they are completely different from the ones in the nut room, mixing room and television room.' The origins of the Fraserburgh Junior Arts Society trace back to 1952. A pantomime was staged by Fraserburgh Photographic Society that year to raise funds for equipment. Inspired by the success of the production the following year some of the members formed the Fraserburgh Junior Arts Society. The society represented Aberdeenshire in 2000 at the Millennium Dome, taking 200 youngsters to London to perform 'Our Town Story'. Lewis said: 'We sit 600 people per night with 4,200 people a week coming to see our show. 'We have 548 members that range from the age of six-years-old to 93. 'Our oldest member is Elma Goodlad who is 93 and makes our costumes. 'She has been making costumes for 50 years. 'Everything in Fraserburgh Junior Arts Society is built by us… all the sets, costumes and props. 'The only thing we take in is the script and light and sound where we use a company from Dundee. 'Even though it is amateur we try to make it as professional as we can. 'I have been in junior arts since I was eight and I'm 34 now. 'Many of us have been here for 20, 30 or 40 years. 'Doreen Gibson has been in our society for 50 years. 'Everything we do from the committee to front of house has a passion, from everyone.'

Between 1978 and 1986 he began his role of Dr Rick Webber from originator Michael Gregory on General Hospital. His most notable storylines included a love triangle with his wife Lesley Webber and Monica Quartermaine. Following this, he joined Another World in late 1987, where he played the role of Jason Frame, and was reunited with Denise Alexander, who had played Lesley on General Hospital. He then appeared on another soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful as Jack Hamilton, joining in the early 1990s and leaving after three years. He last appeared in this part in 2005, having made several guest appearances over the years. Robinson returned to General Hospital after a 16-year absence in 2002, only to see his character of Rick killed off in a controversial storyline that altered the back story. In 2013, he appeared in a 50th-anniversary celebration episode as Rick's spirit, making peace with his old rival Alan Quartermaine when they both appeared to Monica and Alan's sister, Tracy.
