Former Wisconsin basketball star appeals to Badgers fans with NFL fandom
Tonje, who is on the short list of recent Wisconsin basketball greats despite spending just one year with the program, took to X on Tuesday to share the following: "Never had a football team growing up, but I went to Wisconsin, so I think I'm a Packers fan."
Of course, not all Wisconsin basketball fans are also Green Bay Packers fans. However, given Wisconsin basketball's place in the state's larger sports ecosystem, that dual fandom is quite common. Tonje's play already did the heavy lifting with the fanbase during the season. Now playing in the NBA, he still maintains a connection to Wisconsin and the Badger fanbase.
The All-American wing began his college basketball career at Colorado State back in 2019. He played four years for the Rams, headlined by per-game averages of 14.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists as a senior in 2022-23. The Omaha, Nebraska, native then transferred to Missouri for his fifth year, though he missed nearly the entire season due to injury.
Finally, Tonje joined the Badgers for his final collegiate season in 2024-25. He delivered one of the greatest seasons in program history, averaging 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists and finishing just eight points shy of Frank Kaminsky's single-season scoring record. That record would have been his had the Badgers defeated BYU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Tonje, who recently concluded the NBA Summer League session with the Jazz, is now looking to make his mark at the professional level. His connection to Wisconsin fans was already strong after his record season with the Badgers. Once the NFL season starts, he can also now share the Packer fan experience.

Phil Steele joins Colin Cowherd, explains why he has Cade Klubnik winning the Heisman
Colin Cowherd spent some time studying Cade Klubnik's tape this week, and it left him with a simple question. 'Is it possible that Cade Klubnik is the best quarterback in the sport this year?' Cowherd asked on his brought in college football analyst Phil Steele for the discussion, and Steele made it clear he believes the Clemson star is primed for a huge season. 'I picked him to win the Heisman, Colin, and I'll tell you why,' Steele said. 'Two years ago, people questioned him with 19 touchdowns and nine picks. But last year, after getting back his injured receivers and adding a couple talented freshmen, he jumped to 36 touchdowns with just six interceptions. 'He's behind my No. 2 offensive line, he's throwing to my No. 2 receivers, and I've got Clemson winning all 12 games. I think Klubnik leads the nation in passing and brings home the Heisman this year.' FanDuel currently lists Texas quarterback Arch Manning as the favorite (+750). Klubnik is tied at +900 with LSU's Garrett Nussmeier, who he'll face in Clemson's opener on August 30. Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith follows at +1200. Clemson has never had a Heisman winner, though both Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence finished as runners-up during the program's Playoff run under Dabo Swinney. Betting odds for Sixers' VJ Edgecombe to win 2026 Rookie of the Year
The 2025-26 NBA season continues to inch closer as the schedule has been released and everybody's attention turns to opening night in October. With that being said, now is the time to look at some odds for certain awards concerning the Philadelphia 76ers. While MVP is normally the one to watch for the Sixers due to the presence of Joel Embiid, there is some injury concern there, so this one is focused on Rookie of the Year due to the presence of VJ Edgecombe. FanDuel released their Rookie of the Year odds with Edgecombe ranking fourth in those odds with +1300. He is behind only San Antonio Spurs guard Dylan Harper, Washington Wizards guard Tre Johnson, and Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg. Edgecombe's chances to win Rookie of the Year will depend on how much the ball will be in his hands. The Sixers have a lot of guards they will rely on more than him--notably Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain--and numbers are a big part of the ROY voting. Edgecombe might not have the best chance to take home the award, but that will depend on what role he will have in the 2025-26 season.

Former Notre Dame WR on the verge of starting as a rookie for the New York Giants
While former Notre Dame wide receiver Beaux Collins didn't hear his name getting called during the NFL draft, he's still getting an opportunity to make the New York Giants roster. It's starting to look like he won't just make the team, that he could be a starter. The Big Blue Film Room social media account recently pointed out that not only is Collins getting solid run, he's getting first-team reps. They quoted Jordan Raanan, ESPN's Giants beat reporter, as he said 'you are getting first-team reps, that means something, at this point in the summer.' Part of this development with the Giants is that Malik Nabers has been out with an injury, but Collins is still taking full advantage of the opportunity. It remains to be seen what happens when his teammate returns, but you have to believe the organization is very happy with his emergence during fall camp. It's quite the journey that Collins has taken to get to this point in his career, after playing his first three years at Clemson, before finishing his collegiate eligibility with the Irish. It was a solid last year with Notre Dame, as Collins caught 41 passes for 490 yards and three scores. He'll get another chance later tonight to try and secure a spot with the Giants, as they host the New York Jets in their second preseason game of the year.
