Rea 16th and 18th in Cremona Superbike races
Jonathan Rea's struggles on his return to action after injury continued as the Northern Ireland rider finished 16th and 18th in Sunday's races at the World Superbikes round in Cremona.The six-time world champion was 19th in his first race of the season on Saturday after missing the opening three rounds of the campaign because of foot fractures sustained when crashing during testing at Phillip Island in February.Rea subsequently had surgery in Belfast and had continued his recuperation at home before returning to action in Italy.The Northern Ireland man finished 19.2 seconds behind Nicolo Bulega in Sunday morning's superpole race as the Italian Ducati rider repeated his race one victory over Toprak Razgatlioglu with Alvaro Bautista again completing the podium spots.The top three were unchanged in race two as Bulega secured a dominant 1.826-second victory after moving ahead of Turkey's defending world champion Razgatlioglu on lap four.
Rea was in a points position early on in race two as he was in 14th spot but was down to 16th by lap four and lost further ground over the remaining 19 laps as he finished 44 seconds off the pace in 18th.Bulega's weekend clean sweep in Italy was his seventh victory in the 12 races that have taken place so far during the 2025 campaign.The Ducati rider extended his world championship lead over Razgatlioglu to 34 points with third-placed Bautista already 73 points off the pace.Danilo Petrucci finished fourth in race two with Great Britain's Sam Lowes securing a battling fifth spot in race two as he held off Iker Lecuona despite suffering badly with flu.Rea's Pata Yamaha team-mate Andrea Locatelli was eighth in race two.

His accident marked an underwhelming day for Ferrari which will have done little to lift the gloom around the Italian team with Hamilton 0.530 sec slower than the pace-setting Russell.

Vasseur's position as Ferrari team principal is under scrutiny, with reports in the Italian media suggesting prior to Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix that his job is in danger. Hamilton, who has endured a disappointing start to his Ferrari career, defended Vasseur on Thursday, insisting the Frenchman remains the right man to carry Ferrari back to the top. And, when pressed on his own future, an animated Vasseur, in his third season in charge of the Italian giants, said: 'I have to stay calm otherwise I will be reported to the stewards. 'It is not about me, because I can manage this, but it is about the people of the team and to throw their names like this is disrespectful for them and for their family. 'I don't understand the target? Perhaps it is to give s*** to the team and in this case I don't see the point. Maybe for them it is to exist? But it is clearly hurting the team. 'And when you are fighting for the championship, every detail makes the difference, and since we have arrived here we have just been talking about this (his future). And if that is their target they have reached their goal. 'I knew when I took the position as team principal I would be exposed, but for the people in the team who are working very hard to read that they will be replaced and they are useless, it is very harsh and it should be considered that these people have family, they have wives, they have kids and it is disrespectful. And I don't want to speak about it any more.' Due to the damage to his car sustained in the crash in FP1, Charles Leclerc will not take part in FP2, as the survival cell on his SF-25 needs to be replaced.
