INDORE: In a key development in the Raja Raghuvanshi honeymoon murder case, Raj Kushwaha — accused of conspiring with
Sonam
Raghuvanshi — has told Indore police that Sonam not only asked him to kill her husband but also discussed how to cover it up.
As per the Indore police sources, Raj told the cops that he and Sonam discussed all the possibilities in the murder plot.
As per the sources, Sonam contacted Raja on May 16 and made a chilling request: 'We will pretend it was a robbery.' She allegedly went further, asking Raj to eliminate Raja Raghuvanshi and promising, 'I will marry you after becoming a widow, my father would agree.'
To erase traces of communication, Sonam destroyed her mobile phone, police say.
Information provided by Raj Kushwaha is central to the case that has shocked the country — a murder allegedly plotted just days after a traditional marriage ceremony and executed during the couple's honeymoon in Meghalaya.
The plot thickened after Raja's brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, levelled fresh allegations against Sonam.
He accused her of staging her surrender, hiding crucial facts, and maintaining hours-long contact with Raj even after the murder.

Vipin claimed Sonam's mother was aware of the affair and deliberately withheld this from Raja's family, news agency ANI reported.
Further, police say Raj orchestrated the plan from Indore while his three childhood friends — Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi — were allegedly sent to Meghalaya to carry out the murder. All four are now in custody under transit remand.
Investigators are now examining not only the conspiracy but the level of premeditation and complicity among Sonam's immediate circle.

'What Trump wants most is your fealty': Was Gavin Newsom crying while addressing Los Angeles protests? Watch video

Gavin Newsom was seemingly tearing up while addressing LA riots (Photo: X) California Governor Gavin Newsom appeared visibly emotional on Tuesday as he addressed the state for the first time since violent protests erupted in Los Angeles, with social media users speculating he was about to cry. The riots by thousands of people followed federal immigration raids and the deployment of the National Guard. With his voice shaking at times, Newsom pleaded with Californians to resist what he described as US President Donald Trump 's efforts to erode democracy. 'What Donald Trump wants most is your fealty, your silence, to be complicit in this moment,' he said. 'We all need to stand up and be held to a higher level of accountability.' The governor condemned the federal response to protests as illegal and inflammatory. 'These are the men and women trained for foreign combat, not domestic law enforcement,' he said, referring to the National Guard and Marines stationed in Los Angeles. 'Democracy is under assault before our eyes.' In the lead-up to the speech, Newsom had already labelled Trump's actions an 'assault on democracy' and said the militarisation of the city was unlawful. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? IC Markets Đăng ký Undo During his remarks, he doubled down on those claims, accusing the president of triggering chaos through sweeping deportation actions. 'On Saturday morning, when federal agents jumped out of an unmarked van near a Home Depot parking lot, they began grabbing people. A deliberate targeting of a heavily Latino suburb,' Newsom said. 'A U.S. citizen, nine months pregnant, was arrested. A four-year-old girl. Taken. Families separated.' He explained that the initial protests were within the bounds of normal public response. But when federal forces intervened, the situation quickly escalated. 'What then ensued was a use of tear gas, flashbang grenades, rubber bullets. Federal agents detaining people and undermining their due process rights.' Newsom acknowledged that some of the protests turned violent, citing vandalism and attacks on police officers. Over 220 arrests have been made so far, and more are expected. However, he argued that the president decided to involve military forces that 'fanned the flames," of protests. He also said that Trump was trying to dictate academic content and undermining the judicial system. 'What more evidence do we need than January 6th?' he asked. Newsom confirmed that his office sought an emergency court order to halt the deployment of federal forces in Los Angeles. However, a US federal judge denied his plea to block the National Guard from coming to the state.

Raja Raghuvanshi's body was found in a gorge near a waterfall in Sohra area (also known as Cherrapunji) of East Khasi Hills district on June 2, days after he reached Meghalaya with his wife Sonam for their honeymoon. Sonam had allegedly hired killers to get rid of her husband as she reportedly wanted to be with her lover. As per sources, Sonam Raghuvanshi planned the murder with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha just a few days after her May 11 wedding in Indore. The accused first followed the newlyweds to Guwahati on May 21 where they stayed close to their hotel and then to Shillong on May 22. They killed Raja the next day, the sources said. When they reached a deserted place, Sonam allegedly asked the men to kill her husband. The killers, however, refused to kill him, saying they were tired, as per the sources. Sonam Raghuvanshi then allegedly raised her offer to 20 lakh, they said. According to sources, Sonam also helped the accused in throwing Raja's body into the ditch. As per the preliminary autopsy report, Raja Raghuvanshi was hit twice, once each on the back and front of his head. The Meghalaya Police has claimed that all those involved in the conspiracy to kill the man from Indore - including Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan and Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi - have been arrested in the operation that they codenamed 'Operation Honeymoon'.

Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, paid lakhs of rupees to killers to execute the plan, multiple media reports claimed. Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi, who got married in Indore on May 11, arrived in Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 20. According to Raja Raghuvanshi's family, they last spoke to the couple on May 23, after which they were reported missing. A scooter, that the couple had hired on rent, was found abandoned at a spot on May 24, after which the police intensified the search to trace the two. In the early hours of June 9, the police traced Sonam to an eatery in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur. Her location was known after she had called up her brother and informed him about her whereabouts, who later informed the police. As the probe continued, a staffer at the eatery confirmed that Sonam had arrived there during the late hours and was crying. She asked the staffer for a mobile phone and told him she wanted to call her family. Later, the police said Sonam had surrendered in the case. Alongside Sonam, the police also arrested Akash Rajput (19), Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), and one Anand Kurmi. A fourth accused, also alleged to be Sonam Raghuvanshi's lover, Raj Kushwaha, was also arrested from Madhya Pradesh.
